@@marialopez-ql9ec, That’s just speculation. It has never been hinted at in the movies, comics or stated during interviews with the creators. It’s a theory.
That has to be the cleanest Transformers alt mode I've ever seen. You can display him on a shelf and people would just think you're into scale models of military vehicles.
same with MPM Barricade. Put him with some other police vehicles, can’t even tell.
The 2 hinged blades are done that way, just to confuse you, that was the sole reasoning for it.

I belive they had to do that for moulding purposes, they most likely didn't have enough space to make the whole blade on one mould
I think the two blades fold in to make it look like the tail rotor, since that end up inside the robot mode.
Jokes aside, I legitimately think the hinges are just there so that the weapon can fit in the box (the weapon comes packed in a paper bag with the accessories taped to the side of the box, so the weapon cannot be wider than the side/depth of the box).

I don’t know about y’all but I love the way the main rotor comes together in vehicle mode. I always appreciate the weapons being involved in the vehicle mode. I’d rather that over a gun on the roof of a car mode or something like that tbh.

@@murilog.p.1383 Original 2007 Blackout Voyager-class figure had the ENTIRE helicopter rotor + tail assembly hanging from his back. It was just an enormous amount of kibble. Designers probably knew it looked trash, so the figure came with a large square peg that would detach the rotor assembly from his back, for him to hold it as his blade weapon, and it also had a plunger in the tail to make the rotor rotate. But the immense amount of kibble just makes the figure just ugly to look at. Not to mention his legs weren't accurate at all to the movie. And just for shits and giggles, Hasbro took the same bad design and used it for Grindor, Evac and Whirl

At first I thought, he looked exactly the same as SS blackout, just bigger. But he’s super detailed, there’s enough new parts and a different transformation the change my mind
It's definitely an elaboration on the Studio Series but I'd say that's more a compliment to how impressive that leader class toy was!

In the first 07 film, they had 60% of the combaticons. I like to imagine that was the original plan. They had a tank, a helicopter, a military truck, the cop car could have been a jeep, all they needed was a space shuttle.

I'm no Bayverse collector but this is super badass! I think blackout was the first on-screen transformer. It made me realize how scary Transformers would be in real life. They would suck!
I know this is funny coming from me, but the Decepticons would flatten you.

After having the figure for a few days, I can confirm it’s the best MPM so far. It’s arguably one of the top 5 movieverse figures of all time. I love it, they did such a good job
MPM-5 Barricade is a close second for me, with my only real complaint with that figure being the same complaint I've had with pretty much every Barricade figure that uses the 2007 movie design, that being his weapon. Seriously Hasbro, how hard is it to stick a bendy wire on MPM Barricade's weapon so he can have his flail back?
@@thehighwayman3122 Barricade is tied with Starscream for second place for me. All three are excellent figures. I think Blackout has the best engineering, to achieve both modes looking spot on; Starscream’s F-22 objectively looks inaccurate underneath (though I personally don’t mind)
Oh boy, it's Masterpiece Blackout! OH... MY... G O D, he's better than I expected from the promo shots! And holy guacamole, the underside of his MH-53 Pave Low mode is one of the cleanest kibble management I've ever seen in an alternate mode. Overall, definitely a lovely figure IMO

I got super lucky with this figure. Grew up with bay film transformers and fell in love with blackout from that first transformation in 07. Couldn’t get this figure when I was much younger and still couldn’t afford it when they released it like this lol. Needless to say I got lucky and it went on insane clearance at my target. Scored it for $45!! Inner child healed:)

I think the two folding blades are to make packing the accessory into the box easier. Mine came wrapped up in a paper packet with the blades folded in a way to make it fit into the box easier.
Incredible sculpt and scale for this guy. My main gripe is the paint scheme. I prefer darker, more gunmetal coloring for better film accuracy. This bright color on their Studio Series and MPM I'm not fond of. KO's will likely give that alternate paint job I'm looking for. Apart from that, excellent piece!
I’m so excited to see the KO versions paint deco and how they might fix some things. And I hope if they do an MPM Grindor that they actually do the accurate helicopter and give him 7 blades like the CH-53 helicopters have
Is in scale with the others 1/35 but with Barricade and others 1/28 doesn't work like with all. Also is shoulder pieces in robot are too small
I have this guy, and he’s actually a lot darker in person than he looks on camera! I think you’d like him!
I think he only looks bright because of emgo’s lighting because I’ve seen photos of him and he looks darker in comparison
Been thinking a lot on whatever 3rd parties could really change on MPM13 without making the transformation worse, and the only thing I could really think of is making the chest cannon have a larger mold
3rd parties always find a way to upgrade mpm toys.

@@ProtoXenoGen This thing makes the SS look like a baby toy for babies. The size and mass difference is huge. I think Blackout is heavier than MPM Megs but I cannot say for sure without weighing them. The paint apps are incredible.

1: this figure is very different from the studio series, especially where joints and the vehicle mode are concerned
2: It would actually be cheaper to buy this figure because the original studio series is selling for a ridiculous price now

I think the coolest points r the helicopter blades that click into eachother. Such a sick looking idea. Wish with the tail rotors they could’ve done something similar after u twist them into place
The slight panic in emgos voice when blackout rolls just a little too well 🤣🤣🤣 this figure is way better in person and fir me has the funnest transformation
my guess for the moving rotor blades in the hand-held weapon is to save space in the molding process. That way you could optimize space in the molding with putting the 4 blades all near together, rather than doing a single big, circular piece.
The two blades where on hinges for storage to make it fit into the rectangular packaging better I think

The buzzsaw blades being made partially and not completely out of the main rotor blades is a nice lil compromise for the movie model just scaling down the rotors
I am fairly in love with this mpm! When I first saw it, I thought it was gonna be a slight remold of the studio series, but oh boy was I wrong! This figure is so awesome!
I just wish he was a little taller and hope we don’t get yellowing like we got from Wei Jiang 3yrs down the road. He looks awesome!
I am actually impressed with this figure, especially how the two rotors combine in vehicle form. Talk about engineering.
if i had to guess, I'd say the positional rotor blades are so you can place his helecopter form on a narrow shelf by folding a blade away from where it would hit the wall.

@@emgo316 Ah fair enough. Another kool little detail someone else noticed, the mini guns are molded in as details on the sides of the arm like its shown in the movie before they are deployed. cool little detail.
I just bought my copy of this figure, my first official masterpiece figure I’m so excited!
The chest cannon is actually a camera that blackout adapted from Epps’s camera, if you rewatch that scene where blackout destroys the military base you’ll know what I’m talking about

The reason that the rotor weapon has two joints only is for packaging purposes. In the instructions, it actually explains to attach the blades onto the weapon. So it looks like they had originally planned to package them apart, but didn’t

Well it took like 5 molds, but Blackout finally has hands.

I know the engineering is probably impossible,but I always wanted a Blackout figure that A. Incorporates Scorponok into the Helicopter mode like Primus and Michael Bay's design team intended, and B. Launches Scorponok out of Blackout's backout (see what I did there) like in the movie. Regardless this is an excellent figure and Emgo is the host with the most as always.
That upscaled SS figure would work great for Grindor until they retool this guy to make an official one. They might even pull a Tigatron on us again considering how much bigger Grindor is than Blackout?

I really thought my weijiang blackout was going to be my definitive blackout but he might get relegated to being grindor now, that blade integration is genius, and I like the machine guns. That scorponok is definitely an upscaled diecast version of the studio series one which really says a lot about how good the studio series is

I'm surprised that your weijiang blackout is still grey, albeit it's already showing signs of discoloration. Mine already looks like he's rusted, so i just put him on my ss shelf and call him grindor
This is so much nicer than studio series always had a problem with the pieces connecting around the engine I did get this figure

The masterpiece blackout looks amazing. Reminds me a lot of the SS Blackout just with better detail and a few extra steps to transform. Still a great figure.
The mini helicopter bladed head peice on mine was veey stubborn to turn

none of my plastic on my hide shadow has discolored at all. He's kept in a detolf in my man cave which is in my basement. There's no windows so there's no sunlight. I wonder why so many peoples discolor like that?
My hide shadow has never been touched by sunlight and it still discolored. You're just lucky I guess.
Not sure.... Mine is also still perfect. Not sure what amount of time should pass before discoloring.... I've got mine for quite some time now

This isn’t actually Blackout - this figure is Grindor from ROTF.
They have the same robot mode but different vehicle modes. This vehicle is a Sikorsky ch 53e Super Stallion, which was Grindor’s alt mode! Small detail which is a funny misconception actually but awesome video anyways👍🔥

I'm just curious, at this scale, what is there to distinguish between an MH-53 and CH-53e on this particular toy? I'm not an expert, but comparing the two this appears to be a Pave Low to me. A CH-53e has that skewed tail rotor, and the MH-53 has it on the vertical fin like this does. Otherwise they appear identical, although it would appear that CH-53e would be a bit larger (11 feet longer and a couple feet difference from rotor to wheel high?)

This model is incredibly better than the Studio Series version! I got the Studio Series a few year ago and didn't like some details. The Marterpiece solved almost all that annoying things from the Studio Series one
