    My first MPM and it’s the best one! My favorite Deception from the movie, he looks perfect here!
    And I didn’t expect a waist swivel with a robot mode this complicated, but it’s great we got one! The vehicle mode is flawless and having Scorponok store in the rear door of the helicopter is so cool!

    Great representation of the character I’m also excited for the MPM Revenger Starscream which has the tattoos I’m actually going to pre order that one.

      The KO? I used to have it! It was great but I sold it off since I didn't really need it, but I wanna help support the MPM line so I'll get the official one lmao. I ha ve the oversized KO in both the 2007 and ROTF/DOTM colors and both of those are great.

    Nice review! Definitely agree with all your opinions. The two small things that the wei jiang does better are things that bug me too but overall this is definitely a superior figure, especially proportionally. One of the best MPMs in terms of quality, design accessories and paint. OH! And it sucks that there isn't any storage for the rotor weapon in robot mode besides having him hold it, as you metioned. But how cool is it that it actually integrates into the vehicle mode in the proper place??

    • @Talon_Productions
      @Talon_Productions  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      100% agree. This is such a fantastic figure! easily one of my favorites of the year and it is a ton of fun to mess with. It is super cool that the weapon integrates the way that it does, it is so simple but so clever.

    Also fully agree with your critiques. One issue I have that 3:49 reminded me of is something I think MPM should learn from Takara MPs. If Takara MPs do one thing better than MPM it's the instructions. I love how they will not just show thw instructions but also several images of both modes of the figure from different angles so for example my MP Nightbird showed front, side and behind. This is great because for those like me who don't actually use instructions much and like to look at final alt mode images to get an idea of which part goes where, it really surprised me mpm blackout didn't have this because like you bring up, not everyone is gonna remember the back part of the figure in robot mode's transformation

  • @ilikepigeons6101
    @ilikepigeons6101 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I despise how blackout's propellor blades weapon is a mistake in the design of the entire character as it's just the 6 blades kibble on his back but shrunken down to make his weapon in the movie instead of the 4 blades smaller propellor that his pavelow heli had at the back, but in this toy it is smart how they handled that despite its flaw as a design. Also kinda wish scorponok was bigger but still a great figure

    • @Talon_Productions
      @Talon_Productions  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah I remember being very confused finding out that the weapon is meant to be the main rotor instead of the tail rotor. It is very cool how they managed to make it work though!

    • @RingoLoadagain
      @RingoLoadagain ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Maybe it worked in the film in the same way it works on the toy! That's the only explanation I can think of haha

    • @Talon_Productions
      @Talon_Productions  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lesterantenor1026 He explained it pretty well. In the movie, Blackout's hand held propeller weapon looks like a miniature version of the main rotor instead of being the smaller tail rotor. The weapon even has the same details as the bit of the main rotor that ends up behind Blackout's head and even has 6 rotors, matching up with the main rotor, compared to the 4 that the tail rotor has..

    I just got it from a toy fair because i saved up for mpm brawl only to find out he wasnt out yet so i had a spare 150 left, I was skeptical to get this because i own studio grindor which felt like an mp to me but after actually buying mpm blackout I'm planning to sell or give to a relative my studio grindor, mp blackout is that good.
    Being a fan of the 2007 film, he's just a had to get and man he's perfect.

    Yeah I'm still not feeling it. The figure is accurate yes but proportions are just absurdly off. They're so off that the Studio Series arguably did it better. The limbs of course are by far the weakest aspects of this figure, and the torso is also too wide and round. Some of the folded up paneling on the back could have definitely been used/incorportarated into the limbs and feet to bulken them up and produce a more streamlined figure. It could also use more paint and a larger chest cannon. Vehicle mode is the highlight of this figure for sure. Seriously what a gorgeous helicopter mode.
    This figure is way too overhyped imo. I frankly don't understand how some people overlook it's very apparent/obvious flaws and claim this is near perfect. Especially for something called a "masterpiece", this is just painfully mediocre. It's not like HasTak are incapable of producing a figure with great proportions either, since MPM Starscream, Megatron, Barricade, Jazz, Ironhide, and Bee are proof they can. It's obvious HasTak just got lazy and called it a day with this because I refuse to believe that they genuinely thought this deserved the "masterpiece" title.

    • @Talon_Productions
      @Talon_Productions  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Very interesting! I'm honestly the opposite, I feel the proportions are pretty good for the most part, and that even if the back paneling could have been distributed better, which is a neat idea, it still folds up very nicely and isn't an issue. As is I find this figure very streamlined, although more paint is never a bad thing and Iat least commend them for giving us a transforming chest cannon even if it is a bit small. Others may complain about parts forming, but I don't mind a plug-in piece!
      I find it to be pretty underrated to be honest, it does so much right and, for me at least, the flaws it does have don't negate the positives that it does have. With what they were able to do with the transformation, including an entire bottom covering of the helicopter, and still have it be as accurate, articulated and intricate as it is I believe it fits the "masterpiece" name.
      But hey obviously if the figure doesn't work for you thats all good! Its just really struck a chord with me in a good way.

    • @MissMartianDCAU
      @MissMartianDCAU ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Talon_Productions
      Yeah the backpack itself is actually decently engineered and probably tucked away the best it could be, but we could have had a smaller backpack altogether and bulkier feet/arms if some of it was distributed to the limbs. It's a win-win situation that was unforunately missed. I will give them props for including the chest cannon at all, and tbh the size doesn't _really_ bother me, at least not to the extent of the blatantly horrid proportions. I also agree with you that if it really came to it I woudln't have minded a plug-in piece for the chest cannon either.
      Fair enough. Like I said, the helicopter mode is definitely excellent, but I just feel like the "movie masterpiece" line is nowhere near the potential it could and should be. 3P companies are running circles around HasTak when it comes to the design, engineering, and execution of Bayverse figures. Now I know that there are vast differences in what HasTak and 3P companies can/can't do with laws, regulations, standards, etc., but at some point it does just boil down to HasTak not putting in the effort that this line deserves. Like I said before in the tfw2005 forums, I'd gladly pay 300-400 dollars for an official MPM figure of the same quality, design, and engineering as say, a figure from Unique Toys or Mechanical Alliance.
      Blackout just doesn't feel like a masterpiece at all to me. It looks like a leader class toy from 2010. In fact this really feels like the leader class Blackout/Grindor toy we never got back during the ROTF run. In my opinion, an MPM figure should look a lot closer to those model shop customs you see on Instagram rather than a mass-produced toy. 3P companies get pretty close to looking like non-transformable customs (UT Desperado is practically indistinguishable from a Boda Studio DOTM Megatron custom) yet they still _can_ transform but look just as good. Why can't HasTak do the same?
      Sorry for the rant. I'm not knocking on you or anybody who likes the figure at all. More power to them. I just genuinely don't see how this could be seen as "near perfect" with so many flaws. I'd go so far as to say that so far, only one MPM figure has been truly nailed from the get-go, and that's Jazz. Megatron comes close but the lack of paint (and inaccurate head sculpt) holds him back.
