    Maybe attach two pull ropes in that small space between the top of the cabinet doors and the underside of the top’s overhang. If you use paracord, it will be super thin and strong. Easy to tuck out of the way when not in use and will last. There would be multiple ways to implement this concept. I would probably go with making two handles, each would be anchored to the cabinet by threading the cord through two holes you drill (about a little more than a hands width apart). The back would have knots at each end preventing it from pulling out, those knots could have a counter weight attached so the handle always lays flat and tucked away when not in use, and you could braid the front part to add the desired surface area balancing the need to not have the cord dig into your hand but also be thin enough to retract fully out of the way.

      Also, if you didn’t want to use the braided idea, it could easily be substituted by adding some kind of sleeve (leather, wood, metal, etc)

    Excellent job, sir. A couple ideas that might have been mentioned already: Another way to make the rabbets for the door panel inserts is to glue the frames up, then use a router to make the rabbet - chisel out the corners square. Most drawer slides have metal tabs that can take up to about 1/4" of space, so if the drawers are slightly narrow, no need to use spacers.

    Great job on that cabinet Adam! It’s like the stuff in my shop. Wouldn’t put it in the kitchen but for a shop it’s top notch!👍🏻I think you’ve got plenty of room for pull out handles. I’d put a couple C bolts up high and out flush with the edge of the top. Put them down just far enough you can hook your fingers in them. Just an idea. Take care!

    You have a router table you’ve used for your ship lap wall boards. Put your door frames together and then use the router to cut your rabbets for the panels to drop into. You’ll just have to chisel the corners out or trim the corners of the plywood.

    If you want to keep the portable table saw, build your self a set of folding out feed supports for ripping down sheet goods, or use your track saw. I dont ever rip sheet goods on my table saw any more. The track saw is better, just as accurate, less dust much better dust collection. Plus i built a set of parallel guides for my rails. Set the measurement, put the rail down and cut. As long as you have a true edge it cuts within 1/32

    enjoyable content as always. id suggest looking up some " new yankee workshop videos" they are all on youtube now( so cool! ) but norm made an amazing work bench on wheels that can pop up, when resting, its the exact same height as th table saw, so its also a run off table.
    One thing I noticed was your wood popping up as you were cutting the recess, he woud use a lot of featherboards, keeps the wood moving in one direction and stops it from popping up. you can easily make them with some scrap wood and keep them around as needed. VERY helpful when cutting small wood.
    Just ideas to help you out. Thumbs up.

    The cabinet came out great with thought out integration. For the handle idea, you can extend the white top replacement and just add a few oblong cutouts that work as handles. Gives you more overhang in the front to clamp things too as well, downside is you need a new top if there isn’t enough clearance to mount directly to it as it stands

    Nice job on the roll out cabinet. I built a smaller version using old kitchen cabinets with drawers on casters for mobility like yours. Loaded my drawers with many hand tools. I created a massive heavy rollout cabinet that was way too heavy. Mobility was nearly impossible cause of weight. In fact heavy enough to distort the casters.
    Lesson Learned - Be careful not to overload so your mobility isn’t lost. Having six casters a major plus for you. Use heavy duty handles.
    Also, your rollout when moving in and out will rub against the angle supports. Might consider adding a slick surface protection versus wood against wood. Like Formica.

    You could also put 3 1/2 in pull handles on the top front center of each drawer (vertically ) so you never touch the wood, to help keep it clean. I think it looks and works great. For pulling it out, put an indentation under the edge of the top about 18 inches apart, pretty much where you grab with the doors open.

    If you ever decided you wanted cabinets above the bench, you could always install drop down hinges. There are some that support alot of weight and even spring or hydraulic assist is needed. look for commercial or industrial hinges.

    Large plywood cut up trick. Get a 2" thick 4x8 sheet of foam insulation and put it on two saw horses to make a "table". Set your circular saw to 1/8" deeper than thickness of plywood. Cut the plywood on the foam table,

    • @JCWren
      @JCWren ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I learned that same trick from watching some tracksaw videos, although I do it on the shop floor. 1" works as well, and is a little less expensive, and a sheet will last half of forever.

  • @thereplacementfordisplacement
    @thereplacementfordisplacement ปีที่แล้ว

    You might consider a track saw or a janky jig to turn a circular saw into a substitute for ripping. It's a good complement to a small tablesaw. Small table saw is much less likely to throw stuff at you by overpowering your grip on the material.

    Duuuude! That turned out awesome. Very nice workmanship. I would like to offer one safety suggestion. It looked like when you were using the pin nailer, you had your fingers inline with the nailer head. Pin nails can deflect as they're going in and break out through the top or bottom. If your finger is there, it's gonna hurt. Adam Savage (Mythbusters) had a video about where he shot one into his finger. It wasn't pretty.
