I was playing in the orchestra last night for this. I must admit wasn't very familiar with PB and Blue Nile, but i found the music really uplifting and very special. Paul Buchanan was great to work with too, really down to earth and a genuinely nice guy
Thanks Duncan. You should listen to all of their albums. Superb, each and every track. Would be great if he could do a full concert with your amazing orchestra.
You are doing God's work, sir! Thank you for posting. I was lucky enough to be there last night. What a truly emotional evening. Paul's upper register may be diminished but his voice remains incredible. The love in the room for a very special man was clear to see. However, he remains so humble and unassuming, he genuinely doesn't seem to appreciate the regard in which he is held. Special mention to the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and wonderful musicians who accompanied him.
@@Moosecruising I agree. He was just getting warmed up. The inclusion of a new song ("Snow"?) perhaps gives us some hope that a new album is in the pipeline. What we would all give for an extended performance with the SCO. The only thing which would make it truly complete would be PJ on the piano and Robert on the bass guitar.
My god this is bittersweet. So beautiful. But it makes me wish I could have been there, or that there would be a tour. And also... Make a new album already. Do it with the orchestra. And with this new, older voice, that is just as emotive.

Beautiful stuff. PB is a legend. A rare poet and human being. When you hear these songs with orchestral arrangements they sound like modern standards. We must treasure this man while we can. ❤
Peace At Last always brings a lump in my throat and Sadness reminds me so much of holding my mum close as she passed away in arms, and my only friend I ever had who ended his life. God bless you both.
This is my most loved group/singer since I first heard them December 1984. I had been listening to rap a few years and it started to get raunchy so I switched to hard rock and 2 weeks later i needed a change so I switched down the dial to see if there was anything that would catch my ear and I heard "Automobile Noise" and "Walk Across the Rooftops". I fell in love with Blue Nile instantly. I only wish they had done more material. I have their 3 albums plus Paul's solo project but would love more. I am a young 58.
@@christopherastin6800 You are right. I have 3 on CD and one on digital plus the solo. My fave album is Walk Across the Roof Tops. The extended versions were new to me until I saw them on YT. I wish there was more.
Please please please make a new album, Paul Buchanan, with or without The Blue Nile. 'Meanwhile' deserves to be released along with other gems I'm sure you have in your vault - 'Snow'?
hardest working man in showbiz. I do worry that by actually doing a gig like this the next album is now going to be delayed by another ten years but I suspect if that's the case, he'd be okay with it.

What instrument? The entire orchestra was sublime and it was great to hear how you guys elevated songs. I’ve never seen an encore quite like that.
I'm the big bloke playing trombone at the back!
Thanks Duncan. You should listen to all of their albums. Superb, each and every track. Would be great if he could do a full concert with your amazing orchestra.
@@duncanwilson7390Hi Duncan, what was the title of the “snow” track?
@@Geoff_Wright you answered that question yourself; "Snow" 😀
Let's Go Out Tonight reduces me to tears every time. 35 years of it!! Such a beautiful piece of art.

Felt by the encore he actually sounded a lot better. Would’ve been incredible to hear a full set from him with more of the BN back catalogue.

My god get that woman some water
She's not getting any water, she'll ruin the video
Amazing footage. Thank you
Cyanide??
There’s always one 😂@@guymarciand8940
Honestly, I get you don’t want to miss a special night, but coughing like she’s got a deep chest infection is really disrespectful to everyone else.
I've missed his voice and these songs. Amazing!
Truly otherworldly-thank you for sharing for those of us unfortunate enough to miss such an experience
Scotland's greatest singer songwriting genius most underrated performer with his band The Blue Nile god bless Paul Buchanan
Held in high esteem by the music industry, but sadly never had the commercial success that PB and the TBN deserved.
A Scottish treasure, our greatest ever musical artist in my opinion
YOUR SPOT ON
Along with John Martyn defo!!
This needs to be shared with the country via touring and recording in studio. In fact the best of Blue Nile Orchestrated please!!! Wonderful!

Thank you for the arranger who pieced this together So beautifully done What an unexpected treat
What is the arrangers name? that was magnificent. I can’t recall anything better.

Paul's songs were arranged by Kate St John.

Will all the respect with the other singers, Paul's voice is on a different level.

You might have taken some cough syrup before going FFS!🤣
I have loved Pauls work for years but just wish he'd lighten up a bit once in a while
What happened to Downtown Lights?
Sadly ruined by the person coughing who didn't have the care to leave and let the rest of the audience enjoy the experience
Celtic connections or Covid connections. A lot of coughing through this.
What’s the track at 10:14?

So in Scotland do people say Celtic with a hard or soft C? Or both?
This is the good one..pronounced with a hard c as in "kell"......the other one is best forgotten about...

Sell ticks refers to the basketball team. How else do they expect to fill the stadium?
Holy coughing
Couldn't watch it because of the Charlie Uniform November Tango coughing
THE MAN DESREVES TO BE PLAYING WITH THIS KINDA QUALITY
SHHHH
I wish Paul had delivered a stronger vocal performance. He seemed to be holding back
I find the orchestra a bit syrupy. Still though, living legend.
Whats with all the bloody coughing, lay of the ciggies ffs😢
Really, I almost quit watching
This is why I stopped going to concerts years ago. Cough, cough, cough, cough.
