I’m glad someone knowledgeable about the secondary market talked about this. You said it best, samples were never play legal and have been the most desirable cards since the beginning. The old cards are fine. I will also say, don’t underestimate how fast the print runs of the less desirable sets can get absorbed if metazoo 2.0 takes off. In the grand scheme of Metazoo 2.0’s vision, these 50k-100k print runs do not seem like a lot once the demand is there. Bigger TCGS probably sell through that much product on a weekly basis.
i feel sorry for all the people that sold all there metazoo because they listened to certain youtubers saying its dead & worthless and to get rid of whatever they have and try and get back what they can..i dont mean this horribly or to come across as having a dig but those who did that was fools..how can one think that because metazoo was going through Bankruptcy that it made the cards worthless..that in itself made the cards even rarer because they was no longer going to be produced..it was win win for collectors because either way if they died or survived the earlier stuff & stamped/serialized cards is going to be worth serious money someday

Maybe even down the line MetaZoo themselves will acknowledge it and separate the two with official side tournaments for the old cards like Konami started to, but the cards are still there so new people can still be attracted to the old game too
Ya the last 9 months is evidence that there will always be people collecting the old product. If anything, there will be new eyes on the old stuff as the fanbase grows.
Native will be collectible because it’s scarce. Nightfall will probably be somewhat collectible, mostly because of Old Scratch and the lower print run. Samples and shit will likely be collectible. I think kickstarter and the rest of the sets will drop IF the new game is successful. MetaZoo is intentionally trying to differentiate from the old shit and it needs to. For the new game to be successful it needs to not be the same. Most of the old product won’t be worth shit, but some surely will.

Scarcity in native even though a player heavy set will still be very collectible especially for sealed collectors and even set collectors. The only thing I’d disagree with is CN1 1st Ed and Kickstarter, but yea most of the other massively printed sets aren’t seeing rises anytime soon imo. The new MetaZoo needs to differentiate for sure and not have a chance of confusing people with the old cards. Regardless, it’s gonna be a long teaching lesson for new people what’s old and what’s new. But over time if they’re successful it’ll become much easier and better to be as different as possible

The old cards will stay collectible. They're fuggin awesome, so why wouldn't they? If you ever want to get rid of your collection, though, DPD, I will do you the favor of buying them at 1%.
You are 100% correct they will be collectable. They will have no value to players but have some-huge value to collectectors. It's simple supply & demand. When the collectable demand goes up as the world finds metazoo as will collectable card values. It really is simple & logicaly knowing if more ppl want something& supply stays same , the product should not only maintain but increase in value. Only question is will any new supply come outta nowhere
