Uematsu is a literal genius. He taught himself music and not only that.. but he brought the world amazing music such as this (which is, to me, some of his best work). I've listened to his music played out in many ways and arrangements, and if I could meet the man myself I would bow deeply and offer many thanks. This particular song is, to me, a masterpiece. Breathtaking.
He's one of those artists that is so personally important to me that I should really send the guy a letter thanking him. I got on board when I was 9 and beat FF4 for the first time. The music at the end of that game absolutely blew me away and still does. You probably know this, but "Theme of Love" from FF4 became part of the Japanese grade school musical curriculum.
Amazing, simply amazing! This is pure nostalgia for me; I bought this game for $99.99 (119.99 w/taxes in Newfoundland, Canada at the time) using my own hard earned money, and spent so much of my youth soaking up this masterpiece. My shock when kefka succeeded in destroying the world remains with me to this day. I remember looking at my step brothers, and all of our mouths were hanging open. So to hear this piece brought to life so beautifully has been an emotional rollercoaster. Thank you, sincerely, for the awesome performance and sharing this!
I love that the left the laugh in the exact way it sounded in the original game. It's just so warped and distorted due to 16-bit limitations, but it still suits Kefka perfectly.
@@martinsmith5520 *laughs* I absolutely *[LOVE]* that everything's upscaled to real instruments, real insanity, and we STILL get 16 bit Kefka laugh. Somehow that brings the whole damn thing together in a way that I know WE appreciate, but Kefka appreciates even more.
Fantastic job orchestrating the entire part of Dancing Mad. It's a pretty long one and has a lot of elements. Last tier is always my favorite -- we get to see the dramatic flair of Kafka and the fall of a god once his realizes his reign is crumbling beneath him.
Love that you didn't mess with the transitions between movements 3 and 4 like many of the other arrangements do. It's at just the right speed too, with the exception of some tempo issues near the beginning. Wonderful job!
This is my new favorite version Anything orchestrad. Didn't finish the song yet but I already just heard this orchestrad group for J-E-N-O-V-A , One Winged Angel. I love these versions ! Great Job
Grew up with FF7 and still have yet to play FF6 I 100% agree that this beats One Winged Angel (though Sephiroth's real theme is also really freakin good.)
First, major props for keeping in the rock percussion while still re-orchestrating the songs in the first three movements. I watched a cover of this whole piece on an organ which was performed with great virtuosity, but the lack of the percussion which is in the original really killed it for me--no amount of virtuosity cures my love for the drums. Keeping that fact in mind, you cannot imagine my surprise and excitement when I heard that the fourth movement had been transformed into a jazzy big-band cover! Why, it's the most delightful treat I never knew I wanted until it was given to me. This is one of the best covers of Dancing Mad I've ever listened to, so thank you very kindly for this.
Really good arrangement, mostly enjoyed. It's unfortunate that one of the clarinets had a reed crack or break on them (at least that's my guess as to what happened).
It totally sucks when you’re playing the higher notes (3rd-4th octave) on clarinet or oboe- higher chance of breaking a reed. I actually like the clashing between the oboe notes. More of a 3rd minor scale notes.
Inspired arrangement and spirited performance that captures the energy of the original very well. Even the occasional off notes mostly seem to fit the character of the piece. Still, any chance of another, improved recording?
Rhythm and phrasing is a little whack from the percussion section in some parts between the two guys. And in some of the runs between instruments like organ and flute during the little prog jazz riff. Otherwise this is such a great realization of this piece.
It's a brilliant arrangement, don't get me wrong, but without the choir and organ it's just lacking that... Something... You simulated it well, but it's just not quite the same...
This is probably the best orchestrated version of Dancing Mad I've heard. Definitely better than the Distant Worlds version imo. Where can I buy or download this track in high quality?
Distant world is trash, it's just a rearranged version of it, with little real work on it. I'm very annoying when people compare Distant World which is using the original songs for their guidance with an orchestra that is doing it from A to Z. Unfortunately I think this one could've been better, but not because they're not capturing what dancing mad should be, but because it feels lackluster on some department, still much better than distant trash. I mean even N. Uematsu said they were too shy with their interpretations.
Like the arrangement in general but as others have mentioned, there are some serious rhythm issues here and they seemed to get worse as the piece went on.
Imagine sitting in live for this one, oh man what a treat!
This is a challenging and difficult piece for the percussion section. Let’s give it up to percussion for this awesome rendition of “Dancing Mad!” 👏
Xylophone guy really earning his pay here

Jeremy Jahns said it best. Composing this song on the SNES soundchip is like using crayons to paint the Sistine Chapel.

No one's talking about Wario in the orchestra? Okay...
Or that link was there playing something other than a flute or ocarina. Bruh could've used his windwaker to conduct the music.
I was thinking more about the odd prince??
How about Jesus just smack dab in the middle?
I see em
Wario??
Nice touch with the Kefka-laugh :D
how was it pop up? like it's from nowhere!
@@nobody9580 Look at 8:55 The girl on the left next to the piano will launch it from a computer (i had to rewatch 3 times to sneak it)
Kefka's laugh actually took all four beats of the bar that it was cued in, which adds a cleaner syncopation to it. It was great, though. :)
@John J. Apanovitch
Thats funny now that you mention it, they’re actually noticeably more in time after that.

That section right after the vocal singing stuff had some tempo issues, but damn was the entire thing really well performed.
