The sort of thing that one doesn't want to see happen, but so pleased that everyone is safe. I have the utmost respect for airline pilots!! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for the footage. My daughter and Son-in-law were flying off on their honeymoon on that flight! Very shaken up but safe thank goodness.
I was on that flight yesterday. It was a bit scary but felt that the crew and flight deck acted brilliantly. And even better, TUI managed to scramble another dreamliner and crew from Gatwick within 90 mins, the pilot that eventually flew us out was on annual leave and flew us out and returned straight away in the jump seat. Total respect to this travel company, you wouldn't get that with Ryanair that's for sure, so remember that cheap flights come at a cost.
Have seen Ryanair forced to do an emergency landing and had another plane ready within 30 minutes so not necessarily the case. Not that flying Ryanair to Punta Cana is an option anyway.
She must of been so heavy on landing, 12 hours of fuel and 300+ passengers, just goes to show how well these are built for the rare occasion issues occur.
It is always good to see a prompt and professional emergency response even when, thankfully, it was only precautionary. Great work and coverage from Matt there as always.
Yeah even if a tyre blows (usually because of the brake heat I'd assume, is why reverse thrust is used for the most part as well as there's temp senors as well as I believe pressure ones I forget exactly) they'll get the fire engine(s), there's usually at least one just as a precaution. When a brake gets hot it can at least sometimes heat up the tyre and cause the air to expand blowing the tyre up, as the brakes arent used when its reversing its to reduce the risk of that happening not to shorten the distance the plane goes down the runway on landing.
Missed your show today Matty as was visiting Rel’s. Great capture and you handled it so professionally. Respect to you and all involved in the safe landing of this plane👏👏
Glad you caught this. I was wondering what the issue was. Also noticed a Ryanair, EasyJet and Virgin Atlantic aircraft that landed and held at the end of 23L while the tower dealt with departures that had been kept waiting while the inbound traffic was redirected to land on 23L. Can't say I've seen that happen at Manchester before. They seem to have handled it flawlessly.
Great job Matt. Watched it live on the show. Love Airliners live. Great community. Professional vlogs. Well done also to TUI and Manchester ground crew
Matt's a pro! I was already so impressed by him doing a multi-cam stream with commentary all by himself. And now this emergency out of the blue, and he never lost his cool.
@@mattsmith7301 small delay to start holiday, I have a flight back at 11pm now. Last year I flew from Manchester to punta cana and had to go out from the plane twice and get my bags on arrivals 😂 and eventually departure was next day
That decel on the runway with all of that fuel on board, yeesh reversers out for almost 40 seconds, thats a big bird. Glad everyone made it back safely.
Did a fab job on streaming. We got to watch and hear the live. Info provided was great. I can't watch the type that scream and shout or those with 5 camera angles. Even as this drama 👆 unfolded it wasn't talk for sake of it. Top job! 👍
Great video Matt.Ambulance station I was at got call to Airport at least once a month, our RVP,Was on the apron close to fire station, engine switched off until plane landed.
Why do they stop on the runway and cause major problems for other aircraft when they could easily just turn onto a taxiway? If there's no actual fire in the cockpit or cabin I just don't understand this procedure of stopping on a live runway.
Cpt’ Mark explained during the live show.. that the reason for this is simply because of room around the aircraft for the emergency appliances to operate/inspect etc
Even the 787 fuselage has been built wrong for using the wrong materials someone said the 787 fuselage will break apart due to using the wrong materials to meet deadlines who use to work for Boeing and quality control is very poor standards
@@AirlinersLive Don't worry, I'm not a hypocrite, would of pressed it a hundred times if I could 😄 It's not often anyone gets to see something like that, so well done you, great camera work too.
The whistleblower’s thoughts have finally come to life after testifying in court. He did say that all 787s 777s should be grounded and should be examined 😢😢😢
Thank you to the leadership over at Boeing for providing the world with a plentiful supply of shoddy built airplanes passengers can't trust to get them to their destination safely. I'm sure this will do nothing to ease the madness we see regularly at major airports now. It can only make flying more an adventure and a gamble for those who do a lot of it. What a comfort...
....was only reading yesterday that whistleblowers of company been reporting literally Dreamliner is a liability...oh dear, but great that everyone safe.....
TUI planes look so scruffy. Been advised they are bad inside too. I sure wouldn’t fly with them . Been worst charter airline 2 years running . But then wouldn’t book a TUI holiday either . But glad this flight turned out ok

Mattcam did an amazing job commenting on this emergency. Hats off to the emergency crew and the atc for dealing with this so professionally
Thank you so much for the footage. My daughter and Son-in-law were flying off on their honeymoon on that flight! Very shaken up but safe thank goodness.
What happened then, did they move the flight back a day or so?
I was on that flight yesterday. It was a bit scary but felt that the crew and flight deck acted brilliantly. Very pleased all was ok.. I agree both flight crew, tower, emergency & ground ops performed impeccably! Enjoy your trip 👍🏻
Did you land heavy or did they do a fuel dump,,,, thanks
@@andrewlidgett3521 in this case the crew wouldn’t have had time to dump fuel . Also due to the altitude it would have been un applicable 👍🏻

After going to Dominican with TUI over the New Year, I'd never book with them ever again.
Amazing wing flex on the Dreamliner landing with all that weight - great catch !

Very tactful professional coverage of the situation as it unfolded and thanks to the man above all's well that ends well.

Celebration in how safe air travel is and how well they respond to an emergency, the response was brilliant.
Thank you for the report and congrats to the pilots for an amazing landing especially knowing it was not supposed to land with such a weight.
Great to see all is good and safe...all procedures executed perfectly, great footage guys thanks.
Well done Matt. Glad all are safe thats the main thing 😊 well done to the pilots!
Good call by the crew, everyone safe and hope they managed to get out eventually!

Landed safety, training plans executed as required , a good outcome 👍✈️💙
Great footage
Thanks for posting!
So glad everyone was ok

Great catch. Does anyone know if they replaced the aircraft or did it go out again and how much delayed
A replacement aircraft has/is being sent from Gatwick I believe 👍🏻
Bravo 💯💯🔥🔥

Way to go.
Great work by the flight crew. Given the distance of the destination, did they not dump fuel to lighten the plan for landing?
They didn’t have time in the situation.👍🏻
@@mattsmith7301 Thanks Matt.
All that spray kicked up on landing would help keeping the brakes from over heating.
As a Propulsion Engineer this is not something new in aviation. Usually caused by an engine with oil system issues.
I was tracking this plane in flight radar
Thanks for the video. I am abroad and we were waiting for the aircraft to come home and looks like will be delayed now
A replacement aircraft has/is being sent from Gatwick I believe 👍🏻
saw it take off from my school.
Has TUI said what the issue was?
With Boeing having a rough time at the minute with regards to maintenance and build quality I'd like to know.
Was it water on the runway or smoke from the plane?
Water
