These decisions are based on metrit. Understanding the bias that has impeded people in the military should be addresses. Ex. Every MOH honoree of the Navy are all white males. Those who wrote the awards ensured they got them. But many people have met the criteria BY MERIT and have been overlooked by the service.
Here's what people must be aware of: The increase in division and lack of effect that DEI initiatives have is not a result of misguided policy. DEI is working exactly as their proponents intend.
As the spouse of a military aviator I can tell you you put a person in a position they are NOT qualified for( because you have lowered standards for them ) regardless of sex and skin color it doesn’t end well for others that depend on that person to do their job! DEI is a failing policy hence why so many people are OUT ! Would you put your life on the line when you have zero confidence in the person sitting next to you ? No you would not . Best man / woman for the job should be the standard not this babysitting garbage.
That should include when I have to sit next to racists in the service. There are criteria people have to meet to fly and for other positions, no one is just putting people in planes.
Equity initiatives are a back door for introducing Marxism and Communism. What I see here by the Democrats is a motte-and-bailey strategy. They say that people overwhelmingly approve of diversity and I believe that, but they're using the "motte" definition, just have a variety of people, backgrounds, ethnicities, experiences, personal values, etc. And of course no one can disagree with that. But in private they revert to the "bailey" definition, which is "White man = bad, everyone else = good." DO NOT FALL FOR THIS, PEOPLE.
I noticed a trend where someone will reply but then block me so I am never able to see their reply. My comment to this tactic like just above is liars love to hide. So keep hiding liar.
@Mark O'Connell I don't know it is weird. There is a reply there, but we just can't see it for some reason. If he was banned, nothing would show. Maybe we are both blocked by the same person.
The panel forgets that several years ago we had to address the extremism in the ranks. Just because some panel members didn't experience it doesn't mean they shouldn't be talking about it. Pretending it doesn't happen helps no one.
Some of you in the comments are so small minded. You are why people like SCJ Brown, who is more qualified than several on the bench, kept facing the question of "qualified" but those criticizing her couldn't state what those qualifications were. It is clear that many in the comments section don't understand there are significant challenges. I have been blessed to know wonderful leaders in the military. I have worked with 3 of the services and serve my self. It is disheartening to see talented and qualified people overlooked because they aren't being mentored, aren't being sent to schools that will add to their growth, etc. We have seen racism in the organization, to include the hair policy. Ignoring those issues and pretending America doesn't have a problem of race and bias, to include the military, is ignorant. Understand how barriers work in the system first before you assume equity is a way to avoid merit. It isn't.
@Nagefa good point. Cohesive units with a unity of effort are a hard thing to measure. I do know that DEI leads people to separate in different groups, and we don't have an identity that unites us anymore. When I first joined, we all considered ourselves as American. That we were on the same team. It was a mindset of joining an organization instead of the organization joining us if that makes sense. We had to prove ourselves as having what it takes to join the team. Now, it seems like the team is constantly morphing and changing its standards, and there isn't a clear unifying identity with a clear goal. There isn't a we anymore only multiple groups with their own motivations and standards. When my PSG looks at me and assumes I have unearned privilege because of my skin color, he is going to try to rectify that unjustice to bring equity. His focus is no longer killing the enemy, but to punish the enemy in his ranks for the illicit privilege they allegedly enjoyed.
It’s weird that’s ALL democrats can focus on, like the Biden administration is proving hiring someone based on skin color alone hurts everyone. Best person for the job should have nothing to do with skin color ! Hiring someone based solely on skin color is the definition of racism.
ALL of these people are clueless about what's really happening DAILY in the military!!!
MERIT, MERIT. Not skin color, not sex, not religion and not political affilitation. MERIT. That is all that matters.
According to DEI initiatives merit is a false consciousness and we need equity instead.

Replace “white” with “black” in the original tweet and the entire world would have a melt down.
It would implode on itself

Equity is a horrible word. It means received the same for less productivity. It is anti-incentive in practice. It rewards the one who was laziest.

@@markoconnell804 I can't see the reply either.

OMG! This is so embarrassing. No wonder they can't get people in this military.
Follow the money trail! All that money and man hours poured into DEI initiatives, rather than military pay and ROTC programs.
Based beyond belief.
Socks, that's ridiculous, if you join the armed forces over socks... I'm guessing we don't need you.
The numbers speak for themselves. People will always vote with their feet.
all of you do not deserve the positions you hold in any form of perceived authority. You thought our recruiting numbers were bad now? just wait...

It is weird that the Republicans seemed to focus on DEI and CRT in relation to recruiting instead of the divisiveness and racism it causes.
i think part of it is because they can get real data with recruitment numbers. It's hard to quantify racism and divisiveness
