I love kayaking, the outdoors and adventures. I’m out here enjoying life and having fun.
9 days in Costa Rica with G Adventures
August 2024 - Another fun adventure! This time, in a different country. This was the 9 day Adventure tour with G Adventures. We had a blast. We opted for tons of extras and didn't regret it...except the Catamaran... it did not go well with my severe motion sickness...lol.
Saw tons of wildlife, got to see several different ecosystems, spent time inland, in the mountains, in the jungle and by the ocean. Loved every minute of it!
We were very lucky to have a fellow traveler who was also a photographer! All the beautiful images were captured by Luis Miguel. The individual photo's are credited and he can be found on Facebook at luismiguel.gutierrezperez.1

We have an additional paddler this year: Laurent R., 73 years old who has done this river a few times. This was planned as an 8 day trip but we combined 2 days to shorten the trip. Our gang had two kayaks and two canoes. Our journ...

Missinaibi 2022 - Mattice to Moosonee - 322 km
มุมมอง 2.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Three of us took on this 322 km adventure with two kayaks and a canoe. It was planned for 14 days, and we finished it in 11 due to lack of campsites further along the journey. This was by far the most mentally challenging trip so far. Between the poor weather (rained 8/11 days), the temperatures dropping to 6 C in July, the bugs (sand flies, black flies, mosquitos, deer flies and horse flies), ...

Tatachikapika - June 2021
มุมมอง 4373 ปีที่แล้ว
4 day trip cut down to 3 due to really low water levels, lots of rocks, too many pelvic thrusts and too much walking. This was a 60 km paddle down the Tatachikapika River in Northern Ontario. We completed 15 sets of rapids, 2 portages. Please check Mike’s video for a different perspective on the same trip at “In the Woods Crafting” - th-cam.com/video/EfU3hko2mcg/w-d-xo.html

This was a near 60 km paddle down the Tatachikapika River in Northern Ontario. 17 sets of rapids, 3 you have to portage, the others are runnable.
LOVE THIS! I literally thought about you both the other day! Great job 👏🏾. FOR my next trip, I’m going to try and capture as much as I can for a vlog and see where it goes haha, sounds like an epic fail in my head, but hey I’m going to try. I’m headed to London for Christmas and NYE! Thanks for sharing 🥰
Anytime!! So happy I got to share this adventure with the group! It was an amazing group!! Have fun and London and if you end up making the vlog, send me the link so I can watch!!
@@marieandree33will do! May not be as nice as yours but you know I’m a beginner haha 😂!
I never heard of this river, and it looked amazing! To get out and rip it for 160 k down all those rapids must have been a blast. I would have wiped out in a similar style to Mike down that chute. Now I've got to look more into this route. Way to rock it!
You would love it. The starting point is about 40 minutes west of Timmins down hwy 101. The rapids were pretty great. 6 mile rapids was literally 10 km long. It was crazy awesome.
Did you you Missinaibi outfitters or another option? Thanks in advance!
We did not. See my answer on your other question. I lumped it all there :)
Thanks for the play by play of the rapids and river condition. Planing to do this river mid sept, will have to check all the data and water levels,
Enjoy!! It was a lot of fun. We didn’t use an outfitter. We did it on our own. Our friend Laurent had done the river before so we used his knowledge on this one. There was a few mistakes made as you saw in the video but overall we were ok. I also couldn’t get a good river map of the Groundhog. That was disappointing. Hope it goes well for you. Let me know if you film any of it. :)
I went on a 30 day trip almost 10 years ago that started on the Groundhog and went up to Moosonee. I haven’t been able to find good footage of the Groundhog until now and it’s brining back so many memories!! The 10 mile rapids were a personal favorite, but the water was a bit higher when I was there so less bumping and scraping 😂 thank you for sharing!!!
OMG I love this!!!! Thank you for sharing!!! That sounds like an amazing adventure!! I did make it all the way to Moosonee 2 years ago but I left from Mattice. We split the trip into two seperate journeys. The provincial park to Mattice and then Mattice to Moosonee all on the Missinaibi River. The kayaks don’t hold more than 14 days worth of food.
awesome video, I should have given you my SD card to incorporate into your amazing footage.
Thanks buddy!! Next year we’ll do that!!
Mabs. Wicked video buddy
Thanks buddy 😁
Such a nice and fun journey, thanks for sharing about your travel
Thanks for watching!! ☺️
That was a fun adventure! Ha, rocky start, bummer about the rain, looked like a fun paddle, way to rock the rapid at the end!
Thanks!! I’m working on a new video. We finished the Groundhod River last month. Great rapids in that one!!
@@marieandree33 sounds great! We had fun on the Steel River Loop a few weeks ago, lots of fun CI's and a few CII's. Off to Bark lake next week. I'll have the check out Groundhog when it comes out.
@@brothersdunneI just went and watched your vid!! It was great and funny. What camera do you use??
@@marieandree33 sweet, thanks!!! I use a Panasonic GH5 for most of it...and then in faster moving water, or underwater shots I used a Go Pro 7 Black. What camera do you use?
@@brothersdunneright now it’s GoPro10 only which is great for all the fast moving water and underwater stuff but terrible at long distance anything. Lol.
❤ Amazing trip
They put that big sign at thunder house because on the American maps. The portage is show on right of the river. Every year canoeist would drown.
Ya, it’s pretty nuts! It’s also really far from the actual portage. But at least it gets you ready.
consider going back into the trees and cutting a tent site- warmer back there out of the wind- maybe; more protection from rain and wind?
Unfortunately you can’t do that. Both sides of the river are a provincial park with designated camp sites. You gotta take what you can get. No chopping new sites.
never been in a kayak; can one carry it like a canoe rather than dragging- might go easier?
Oh gosh no. I store a lot of waterproof items, loosely. And I don’t have a big bag to put everything in. I’m also stubborn and only want to do one trip 😂. Even though I’m slower, I end up finishing first from those that do multiple portage trips.
Looked like such a fun section of the river!
Cool to see you guys rocking the upper portion of the river!!! Looked like a lot of fun rapids to play in! We are hoping to get on it next summer. This will help out with planning. Finally got our upper vid up. Water was warm when we swam in August. Looked like a lot of great fishing action at the falls! Keep rocking it!
We’ve done the upper twice now. Definitely our favourite. Check the other vid too from 2021 because we stayed at some different campsites. You’ll have a lot of options. Are you guys using Hap Wilson’s book or just the map or both? Some sites are listed on the map but not in the book and vice versa. We also found a couple sites that are not listed in either places. I’m going to check your vid now! Can’t wait.
Hey good to know its your favourite, I've heard that from others too! Going to give the prior one a go too! We use the map, I'm a visual learner, so I watch vids on any canoe route we do...looking for cool campsites (like you mentioned), or portage exits..etc..any unique landmarks. Hope you have a rocking weekend!@@marieandree33
Just looking to plan our trip, who did you use to shuttle your vehicle from Missinaibi to Mattice? Thanks, hope you have some great trips planned for the summer.
@21Swayzee we had Mike’s daughter drive us out and Mike’s wife picked us up when we were done. When are you guys going??
Very good, I like it, very good presentation
Thank you!! I appreciate your feedback! ❤️
Good work!
Thanks!
Awesome editing, great video.
Thank you!
Great video.❤❤
Thank you!
This was great, we used it to help plan our trip down the lower missinaibi with our kids...as we couldn't find much info on the paddle. Keep on rocking it!
That’s amazing!! So glad I could help! How did your trip turn out?
It was great, its been on my list for years! Kids loved it too! Water was a little low at times, but we wanted less bugs, and new that be the case...made it easier for the kids too. Lots of fish, moose, bear and good times.@@marieandree33
Hi friend 🙏 very good 👍 i Like video 💕 greetings from Palu city Central Sulawesi Indonesia 🇮🇩😊🙏
Thank you!!
@@marieandree33 yes my dear friend beautiful and sweet ❤️🌹😘
i wish water levels were higher i would redo this trip.
What an amazing experience, cheers to you both.
What time of year did you do this?
Sorry for the delay. I somehow missed your comment. We did this first trip in later July. July 24 to August 2, 2021. We just redid it this year, July 1-9 and the water was higher.
@@marieandree33 we did it July 1-9 as well this year!! Great level
@@RileyOutside that’s awesome!! Yes, the water levels were so much better this year!!
I’m so looking forward to your longer version, great job Buddy
Great video
Once yours is up, I’ll add the link to this one.
Looked amazing should have pack a telescopic fishing rod to take a few cast on the way 😎
I’m heading out on an 11 day kayak trip soon!! I will definitely be bringing my telescopic rod on that one!! Hopefully I’ll get some footage of the giant fish I will catch 😆
@@marieandree33 I look forward to the footage my friend !
Really nice video! Thanks for sharing this
Thank you!!
@@marieandree33 no problem! We have a good time filming our hikes as well. Haven't done anything long-distance yet though
