@@beverlythebird5040 maybe they expected the movie to have cartoony faces. They could be creeped out by the realistic faces because, it's too realistic for a cgi back then. I mean, maybe they think that the faces don't match with the "cartoony" vibe (that evokes a "fun" emotion for them).
@@marxvargas7697 actually, it was technically considered groundbreaking use of CGI motion capture when it was first released, and in the end it was not that well transcended the 3d when it comes to uncanny consideration
@Gaming & Movie Entertainment I understand what they mean. The Polar Express is one of those Christmas films that I start out watching, but by the middle lose interest in it. I always end up falling asleep in the middle of it for some reason. And I can't explain it. The Polar Express may have become a Christmas classic, but it will never be a Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, or A Charlie Brown Christmas, or a Grinch. It just won't.
I think it's an instant classic because it has a basic premise. A boy who wants to believe but has his doubts, and then at the end, his heart is open to understanding the spirit of Christmas. It's not really about believing in Santa, it's about believing in the impossible.
I also really appreciate that it was technologically groundbreaking for it's time. I think it's that dream quality I always appreciated as a child because I used to have strange dreams that wouldn't make sense like this movie does sometimes. I always held a special place for Santa in my heart though even as an adult now because of this movie I think. A classic for the Zoomers maybe. 🎄🧑🎄

I knew he played the conductor, the hobo, Santa, and the father but never did I know that he played the Kid. Amazing see this is why I love Tom Hanks. Big Fan loved the Movie.
He didn't actually play the kids characters , they had actual children play in the movie too and the part where the girl and boy sing is done by the famous singer Meagan Moore and another person named Matthew hall.
What I mean to say was the main kid that tom played

This movie came out when I was 8 years old, actually took a field trip to go see this movie with my entire school. I couldn't stop smiling the whole way there. My teacher actually asked me "my god, why are you smiling so much? Have you never gone to the movies?" One of my fondest memories. Tom Hanks I love you!!!! I didn't know he played some many of the characters, I thought it was just the conductor he played. Such a talented, humble man he is.
Same age. I somehow convinced people in my class it was real and the train would come christmas eve. I had some angry questioning after Christmas break 😂.
They really said, "We've got Tom Hanks cast for the conductor, who else should we hire? Nah, this works. He can just voice everyone."
I love Tom Hanks. He is a fantastic and charismatic actor.

Dude it's crazy to see how it is made. The movie is just a masterpiece; so much so that it's mentioned everywhere and the movie is used in several memes that I enjoy. The visuals are stunning, the character models look good, the movements and physics are realistic. This was surely ahead of its time. Honestly, when I googled this movie, I couldn't believe that it was released in 2004. I was 3 when it came out!
i wasnt even born. i love this movie, and still am amazed they managed to make it look so good. i loved it when my old elementary school would have us gather in the big lunch hall to play this movie and they gave us blankets and hot chocolate during the winter. man the nostalgia, i really wanna see what that place looks like inside if any different. the plastic chocolate bottles instead of the cockroach infested cardboard(?) milk cartons, popcorn chicken, reading cheat code explosion books when we were about to leave... nostalgia

I wish they'd remake this movie with today's technology. The character renderings are either creepy or on the edge of creepy. Still an awesome flick and it's on our top watch list every Christmas

For anyone wondering why Tom hanks played most of the adults in this movie:
The reason is is because the boy is all of them, the conductor is the older boy and wants him to believe which is why he is so worried about getting there on time, and the hobo represents doubt, and if the boy never got on the train or never got there on time, and how the hobo tricks the boy into having doubt, this is also why we see the hobo disappear at the end of the movie because the boy’s doubt has gone away or he has believed and his fate to turn into the hobo is gone, also the conductor and the hobo have the same color eyes and jawline. It shows that the boy could be anyone of them.
This is probably not true and could just be because he wanted to play the characters, but I think it ties into the story pretty well

I’ve got such a love for this move. The Mo-cap was so ahead of its time, Tom hanks totally outdid himself. The animation was made to look like the original book illustration and Alan silvestri’s composition in TPE is my favorite of any movie score of all time.

The Hero Boy's name is Chris Van Allsburg
Chris Van Allsburg was the guy who wrote the original book and we can only assume it was from Chris’ perspective
