What saddens me most, as a Brit who once lived in the US and mostly enjoyed my time there, is knowing that in the years to come many poorer white, black and brown people across the USA are going to be disappointed when they realize that a second Trump presidency has not improved their circumstances. In fact, for many life is likely to become a lot harder.
Whatever one thinks of Trump, neither he nor any other president can now defy the true powers behind the throne. The financiers (Blackrock, Vanguard etc), the permanent (deep) state, the tech barons and major party donors like AIPAC run the show. Presidents today - even if well intentioned - are effectively little more than figureheads. Project 25 will impose further restrictions on the liberties of Americans, and further Constitutional safeguards will be eroded or abolished, but living standards for the majority will not improve.
