I've seen a lot of productions from the Wiz that used some of the elements of the film (most commonly using "You Cant Win") But I've NEVER seen a production adopt so much of the dialogue, and movie score, sets and props. As someone whose a huge fan of the movie, I'm impressed!
I actually thought they were playing Michael Jackson's track. The scarecrow sounded just like Michael. But kudos to them for them somehow using the sound track from the movie but muteing the singers.
This is the first time ive ever cried watching a high school production of the " THE WIZ" all of the participants did such an awesome job on their parts the scarecrow sounds exactly like Michael Jackson and the lion did a great job as well Dorothy and the tin man really did great as well and i hope these students will pursue a career in performing arts if they choose to do so these students are super talented!!!!
I'm legit curious how they were able to issolate the music from the soundtrack, from the original singers. Must've had someone whose very good in the studio.
I've been in three musicals so far, and from experience, I believe you pay for scripts and music to memorize. So, they are given voice-free music to sing and practice, straight from the creators... so it's just the tracks. I don't know if they did the same for the movie's music, but there are lots of ways to mute the vocals while keeping the music overall intact.
Ok. i know its high school so im not expecting tony winners… but come on… Dorothy is phoning in her lines. Did they rehearse at all? LOL Where is the emotional energy?

These TEEN can handle a strangers opinion on social media. - I didn’t say they were terrible. I didn’t even comment on their talents. All I said was that someone was lacking emotional energy. That is ACTING. If you can’t deliver emotional depth then they needed to work harder. That’s how you improve… DO…. STFU.
@@heatherrohde4399 yes, I have. It takes HARD WORK which these kids clearly did not put that much effort in if they’re lacking the emotional concepts. Don’t make excuses for excellence. They’re not kids. They’re in HIGH SCOOL. Which means they’re TEENS…. They can handle a little hard work….. I have seen younger age groups excel in the arts whether it was dance, singing, acting. Have a damn backbone. 🙄 If Michael Jackson at age 11 can be up at 2am performing at adult night clubs, these modern kids and work a little harder after school. 🤨
