Just wanna reiterate what everyone's saying. Dave Bautista's acting is top-class here. The guy's clearly been taking his studies seriously.
We're complimenting the guy because he's a former wrestler who's developed some genuine acting ability, which is quite rare. That's not "dick riding", it's called "saying something nice", which, believe it or not, sometimes happens on the internet.
David Marshall shit like that happens all the time, I'm just confused as to why people choose to to adore and admire him so much. I've just never seen this happen before and I'm confused. His acting his pretty good, but nothing special.
@@communitywatch1687 His acting is spectacular
@@communitywatch1687 people are admiring it because he was a wrestler before...
@@DavidM_10 someone deleted their comment lol
I'm so glad Bautista got to do this short film; his appearance in the movie was much too brief.
Even Jared Leto was not in the movie that much, i now get why they made these prequel short movies that mainly focused on Leto's and Dave Batista's characters
@@tovolume Jared Leto's character could very well not even have been in the film at all
@@MadAtreides1 David Bowie was supposed to play him
@@MadAtreides1 lol. Why do people hate on Jared Leto so much?
@@sirleo5103 Exactly. People have been obsessed with hating him since Suicide Squad. He's a great actor though.
Wow...who would have thought that Dave Bautista can act? He's legitimately really good in this. I'm very impressed by these short films!
Justin Zarian You need to check out other of his films, he's legitimately great
He said he practically cried like a baby when he got cast as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy. And then he dug in, studying on acting as well as the character's story. He takes the work very seriously, no matter the role.
Poor Sapper. Without seeing this even we already knew that he had a heart. He placed the flowers over the grave and kept the little girl's sock.
Sapper Morton is officially now one of my favorite characters in the Blade Runner universe
Boy don't watch Blade Runner 2049
@@Heidegaff Nah, it's fine. I watched this first so I wasn't expecting the plot of BR49. But it's good in either order.
@@Fuchsia_tude I think Heidegaff was just joking about what happens to Sapper in BR 2049
@@Fuchsia_tude Well the whole point of Sapper's character is that despite being a kill bot he has an extremely kind nature that hinders his ability hide his strength and blend in with society.
@@maineman5757 But he was doing fine being good-natured and blending in with society until he started killbotting these guys?
These short films are fantastic.
The Daily Dan what's dave saying around 3:20-3:30?
Captain Sweeney i think Dave said:
“Come on”
“???”
“Four Thousand”
i agree. really builds the suspense for the film.
...and these shorts are a smart way to guild interest in the main movie.
Can you imagine what ticket prices are going to be?
The Daily Dan indeed and I'm advising everone to watch them beacuse these one does a great job of leading into the movie as do the other two.
I feel like a proud parent seeing how well Batista has been doing in Hollywood.
wow... you are REALLY too attached to fictional characters!!
And you got that from a simple comment like this where i sai dI'm glad he's doing well, okay.
I can remember watching him as Leviathan in OVW and thinking this guy is gonna be a big star one day!
Me too- I think it really helped him that he took it seriously and went to some acting classes and stuff.
Dave Batista is actually a real person! Not a fictional character.
Please, hollywood, give this man more good roles. Dude has acting talent.
He's developed into a fantastic actor. He's also very humble.
Humility- I like it...
and he has got famously big turds
Can't be that humble, he's ditching Marvel now that they've made him a star.
@@krashd He's ditching marvel because he's stated he isn't able to stay in the sort of shape drax is supposed to be.
Fantastic actor I don't think so slightly better than The Rock
Looking forward to seeing Dave in Dune. He's wonderful in this.
@Dana William I glad (as I'm sure he is too) that Drax is makeup heavy so he can still take these dramatic roles
His role in blade runner was barely five minutes though, I wish he'd had a bigger role like Rutger hauer did in the original. Other than that I really enjoyed the film.
Too bad he got killed early in the movie, but then again who does
Overall I think the movie was quite enjoyable, my one criticism is that Dave Bautista had such a relatively small role. I sure wouldve loved a lot more of sapper Morton. If one day there is a sequel, he could come back as a clone of his replicant self in this film.
@@jamesamick2945 there's an official short film about sapper if you haven't seen that
" What you want ta fight"
He says to the slightly taller man built like a tank
yeah like anyone would mess with him lol
JAXTAROO there's like 4 of them and one of him
Still a weird guy to pick a fight with though
Right? What a pleb.
Happens in movies a lot. I remember watching the remake of Halloween and every guy in the film being an asshole and fucking with Mike Myers, who absolutely towers over everybody.
Poor Sapper..
I am going to watch this movie so hard.
You're going to pop some Viagra before the show? You know they say if it lasts more than two hours it can cause serious medical complications.
bwwwwhahahah... it's an obviously dead giveaway that he's a 'skin job'...

This explains how K found this guy.
K.
@@Mii.2.0 lol
What is basicly the motivation for this short...
@@hazoevo3390 A Nexus-9 having to kill a Nexus-8 because the latter was found out, because he dropped his papers whist saving the girl and her mother.
"The Power and the Glory" is a classic novel by Graham Greene which depicts the ordeals of an "outlaw" priest in Mexico.
K had to retire Sapper Morton at the beginning of "Blade Runner 2049", even though K did not want to. Sapper Morton had dropped his papers, and some A-holes reported him to the Blade Runner Division.
@@hazoevo3390 Sapper Morton also has PTSD.
Dave Bautista’s acting this short film is better than every film The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) made.
*SPOILER WARNING*
It’s sad that defending the young girl and her mother ended up getting Sapper Morton killed. If he never saved them, Officer K (masterfully played by Ryan Gosling) would’ve never found him and killed him. What seems to kill replicants is humanity. And what I mean by that is once Replicants start exhibiting human emotions and feelings it’s essentially their downfall. Roy Batty and his gang from the original Blade Runner began to feel arguably the strongest human emotion aside from love, the fear of death. And that causes Leon and Priss to be killed. Sapper Morton felt empathy and compassion which caused him to show up on Officer K’s radar, which got him killed. And Officer K began to view himself as not a thing, but as something alive; and felt love for his holographic girlfriend Joi. With these emotions and feelings he developed, he chose to sacrifice himself to save Deckard and reunite him with his daughter. When replicants begin to feel, they sign their death certificate.
wood chucker would you be surprised? What makes people human is their imperfection.
That's why the terms "to err is human" and "making mistakes are what makes us human" exists.
well said, i always found it funny how the replicants in these films are always more "human" than the humans.
Slapping And Clapping
Well, the humans in focus in Bladerunner are pretty human in terms.
Wallace and Tyrell are both humans that has a god-like complex because humans long to be god.
Deckard's humanity is what causes him to save Rachel and J.F. Sebastian's humanity is what causes him to take in Pris to his home and show her shelter.
I mean, most of the Nexus 6 Replicants in the first movie, while showing human-like qualities still fall prey to their artificial human nature.
These aren't the ladies you're looking for.
Spoiler here as well.
This mother and daughter are friends of Sapper Morton. The duo that's the reason for involving Agent K is Rachel (who died in child birth) and said child.
Big man with feathery nice acting.
So this is why K came for him in the first place?
2049 was a masterpiece and Bautista is a great actor.
The fact that THIS is how he gets caught is... Insane.... This adds a whole new layer of complexity while just reinforcing the themes of the movie, i didn't expect this short to complement the movie this well, is so good wtf
I’m so glad I found this - didn’t even know it existed!! We need a Blade Runner 2137 or at this point @WarnerBros ‼️‼️🙏🏽🙏🏽💯💯💯💯🙏🏽🍿🎥
Yes. So sad that he dropped his papers.

Batista is getting fucking good at acting man shit!!
Skooma better actor unlike cringey john cena and baywatch the rock XD
Finally some decent character for him. IMO, Drax on GOTG is awful.
Check out HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN. It was a pretty good movie with him.
He features in "Bushwick". He was good in it.
This movie deserved WAY more praise and box office return than it got. Bautista just killing this character, so good.
This movie is masterpiece, thats why IT bombed
There aren't many actors out there with the range of Dave Bautista right now. He's so unbelievably natural. He understands the concept of "Don't act like a character; be a character."
3:09 - guy on the right, that's *Adam Savage* form "Mythbusters" and Tested
Nurpus Thanks I Was Looking For WHERE He Was
KKay 000 right on! I totally couldn’t find him this whole time

oh My God. it feels Like you watching a movie From the Golden Age of Cinema, The atmosphere is well done ....... LOVE BLADE RUNNER ...
The 50's?
Great film to watch and re-watch for understanding more of the details.
not even fucking out yet
epSos.de I
By who directing it should be good but how is the ending ? Did they leave it open for another film or close it with a mystery like the first one ?
Dan Reese they left it open for another film. By open i mean there are more stories to tell but the movie can be standalone
I never wear a watch, I use my mobile phone.
love how those tiny glasses make him look so much bigger/imposing than he already is lol
(while also giving off gentle nerd vibes somehow? great wardrobe choice)
Bautista's small scene in the movie was so immense. Not only is he doing a one on one scene with a lifelong actor and holding his own, he actual steals the scene the hardest way possible--through pure emotional gravitas. It was immediately impressive to watch. I seriously put it up there with that Christoph Waltz scene that's so impressive in Inglorious Basterds
The movie isn't even out yet and the characterization for Jared Leto and Bautista's characters are already looking great....This movie is gonna be way too good lol
Tokoya hopefully it destroys disneys crap movies
Early reviews are coming out and theyve said its an almost 3 hour gritty crime drama, which has me so excited. Getting Denis was the best idea. I could only imagine what this movie would have been like if they tried to make it a blockbuster.
Early reviews are saying it's extremely positive
I aint hyping myself up at all until I see the movie and judge it myself
It's excellent. I just saw it.
Dave Bautista is improving as an actor, nice to see him working for both Disney & WB companies
I agree, first noticed him in bond, just so good to see a big guy like that get roles other than villain nr 1
Wait! This guy is the one playing Drax!?
Kuroblack Yup
Meanwhile Dwayne Johnson is still a horrible and degenerate if an actor.
Don't think disney will cast him for another role than Drax now, because of the whole Gunn drama !
My God. Batista killed it. That's the magic of working with a great director.
Poor Sapper I really feel bad for him. He's a great guy and his life ended like shit!!!!
Hakuna matata Sapper was a good guy
But he's seen a miracle!
Shit that's how it is though man
He was just a robot.
bubbleLoppicus Do you even hear what you said, you sound more like a robot to me.
Those tiny glasses add so much personality to the character, and Dave is awesome as Sapper.
Dave Bautista has really grown as an actor, already having roles in 3 big franchises, excited to seeing this movie now.
I'm so here for Dave being the versatile actor he was probably dreaming to become.
+Benjamin Rood Haven't seen the movie you mentioned. Let's hope he learned from critiques to improve his performances. That's how progress works.
Dave Batista did a fantastic job here, the baddies who was pretty terrible the last guy he is referring to is Jared Leto
+Benjamin Rood what is your problem with Leto ?
Megumi Hayashida i saw him for the first time in smallville season 6 i liked him in that episode you stole my FOOD he said that to clark kent
Damn, Batista getting into really good movies!
ElRadioDJ913 Batista is fucking awesome
Truly one of the best wrestlers turned actor. A natural. Doesnt have a big resume of films, but has worked with well accomplished-award winning directors. Yet, can play the 2nd or 3rd lead of a film without stealing the spotlight, but rather capturing the audience with his characters performance.
I just realized--how fucking awesome is it that Denis had key expositional events turned into their OWN films, rather than cheaply/lazily jammed into 2049 for the audience's sake? A man who truly cares about his craft, so awesome!!
I really hope Dave Bautista's character has a decent role in the film.
The Daily Dan Definitely
im almost sure he dies in the beggining of the movie, killed by K
He's not going to have a big role. He's just a replicant farmer.
Exactly my thought. killed before the opening credits
That's kinda depressing, but maybe this was filming around the time of GOTG2.
Just watched the movie last night and came back to rewatch this. Bautista is so good as this character. He's only in a small portion of the film, but he left such a big impact. Sapper seems like a tough guy, but one who would really prefer a life of peace. A gentle giant.
Funny how someone you generally wouldnt give two cents for like this ex Wrestler came out to be SUCH AN OUTSTANDING ACTOR!!.... Great short film...... Great performance!.
Sapper was definitely experiencing some PTSD symptoms at the beginning of the video. I know that feeling all too well, unfortunately.
Hang in their 👍
I think it was a very sensitive and tasteful depiction of PTSD
Hope you're doing well friend
that's gotta be tough my dude. You got this 🤙🏼
😲 Fr!? Dave Bautista is a freaking revelation! A thespian who showed range in acting. He commands the screen no matter how minute his appearance, so strong yet so vulnerable. It's not farfetched, DB is a future Oscar Winner!
Shit, if I saw this I wouldn't think "Replicant!"
I'd think "Dave Bautista is slamming fools and throwing people around? Must be Tuesday."
Underrated commentary!
The movie lacked and needed this kind of thing. Lots of great aerial shots of the city, not much on the ground with the crowd and the noodles.
i agree. needed more noodles
More noodles would have made it achieve greatness
agreed
+Brupcat
They did have such places in 2049, its just that they made it too neat, clean and sanitised that it failed to achieve that cyberpunk look of high tech low life ..
Well he didn't just want it to be Blade Runner nostalgia. It's an evolution of BR.
I love the warmth in his voice, when he talks to the little girl. You can just hear the love. You can tell Dave spent time thinking about how the character would talk to that girl, and what it said about him (the character). Awesome job.
Dave's talent is undeniable! He deserves more top tier parts in movies.
Excellent film, Blade Runner 2049. It deserves more than what it received.
Unfortunately we are seeing a new cult film being born again. A really great film that doesn't make money.
In a weird way, Im sort of glad the main stream norms of dubious minds dont get this film. Something for a small group of thinkers. Biff and Muffy are not worthy.

These shorts are by Luke Scott, director of the Alien Covenant shorts, and Morgan.
But, yeah, the actual film itself looks amazing as well. Denis is a God among filmmakers. Hopefully he does get the nod for it.
At least his movie was already nominated, and it was scifi, which rarely happens, if this is somehow really good, i could see him being nominated.
Oh he as his hands full with the remake of Dune.
I couldn't care less about Oscars. Mostly political within the industry., and now the addition of anti-Trump (actually pro-big State).
Batista such a natural badass!! cant wait to see this
I felt incredible how Bautista expressed feeling and sadness in this scene. An excellent actor, no doubt.
I would love to see a Sapper Morton story with Dave Bautista in every single scene. He's amazing.
TV series spinoff
NO one messes with Drax's wife and kid.
It would be a cool easter egg if Marvel cast the same actresses for a flashback cameo as Drax's family.
because they are dead
That's the guy who played Drax!??? Fuckckck

So this is the story:
Blade Runner
-Blade Runner Black Out 2022
-Blade Runner 2036: Nexus Dawn
-Blade Runner 2048: Nowhere to Run
Blade Runner 2049
You missed 3 books, Blade Runner 2: Edge of Human, Blade Runner 3: Replicant Night, Blade Runner 4: Eye of Talon.
All of these including the films are based on the book "Do Androids Dream Electronic Sheep?".
Just because you don't like reading doesn't mean they aren't apart of the continuity.
Poly Frank
niether Blade Runner 2: Edge of Human, Blade Runner 3: Replicant Night, Blade Runner or 4: Eye of Talon. are considered canon since a dead character comes back being contradictory with 2049 and others present diferent nature. they are part of the expanded universe but not canon to the blade runner (cinematographically) just secuels of "Do Androids Dream Electronic Sheep?."
oh yeah? no shit.

There’s also the 1997 video game, which takes place at the same time as the original film, and was just recently re-released online.
Dave Bautista is a great dramatic actor and should be in demand by many more directors. This guy has a lot of potential, and his participation in the short film "blade runner 2048" is brilliant. His 10 minutes on screen in blade runner 2049 are even more brilliant!!!. He must be able to play in many other films.... I hope his talent will one day be recognized for its true worth.
I never was a BLADE RUNNER FAN but this movie drew me in. It's one of those movies that you keep watching and it never gets boring.
So, that's how they found Sapper Morton. Awesome back story to this!
Blade Runner came out four years before I was born yet I've watched it almost twenty times now. Literally my favorite movie ever. BR spawned my favorite genre, dystopian sci fi noir. 2049 better not disappoint.
I love this short film. It shows the sheer, beautiful humanity of the man/replicant.
It's really fantastic seeing Dave Bautista becoming a great actor and being in awesome material. Smart dresser, and moreover, beneath the exterior, he seems like a real genuine and humble man, which adds a tremendous amount of appeal .
I keep coming back to this. Dave has always been one of my favorite wrestlers. He actually has great acting chops when he's given more to do with a character.
Dave Batista is turning out to be a really good actor!
Sorry Bautista ... My bad
Truly unexpected things ever: Bautista becoming one of my favourite actors.
Starting off with Dave freaking Bautista crying in front of a mirror, finished with him RUINING some people's shit. WOW.
You can see Adam Savage (of Mythbusters and Tested fame) from 3:10, in back wearing black fur-lined hoodie making a questionable side deal...Adam's very proud of being part of the Blade Runner world and for good reason - an excellent short film, of deep meaning and content.
i've never respect dave batista as an actor, but after blade runner 2049. i change my mind
Dave Bautista's rocks this !
Dave is AMAZING as this character! I really hope he gets a ton of offers for new types of roles from this movie.
I would watch a series of Action/Suspense movies starring Dave Bautista, the man has surely learned how to command presence on camera without making him look menacing, or overly aggressive.
Dave’s performance in blade runner is by far his best performance yet, it’s such a shame we didn’t get to see more of this character.
I'm so glad to see more Sapper, this short was excellent.
I'm really glad to see Bautista getting more work with great directors.
that is some crazy good acting. even managed to capture the look that leon had in his eyes during the VK test. Looking forward to this movie.
This should of been the Original opening of the new Movie.
I love Dave Bautista on serious role, so good!
All 3 of these shorts compliment the movie perfectly, loved them all
Sapper deserves his own movie
I so much would love to see a prequel or a Blade Runner Stand Alone Story in which Dave Bautista's Replicant's story is told. Such a unique and interesting character
Glad to see Pay Phones made a comeback in the future. I miss those damn things.

This is it. filmed in conjunction with the main film. Will be in the extended footage and bonus material in the DVD.
Dave Bautista is suuuuuuch a great actor, really really underrated
The Power and the Glory. Boy leading a horse. Pale Fire. So many hidden gems,
Batista is becoming a great actor! He wowed me in this short!
Me too, Dave Batista is fantastic in this
Bautista looks like Virgil from Fallout lol
I am SO heartbroken over Sapper Morton :'((((
@yagbos thanks for sharing mate.
I'd love a full film of just this character's story, which I assume based on the quality of this short and how tremendously well Dave Bautista did in his portrayal, is a sentiment shared by many others who've watched this.
Glad to see post Blade Runner 2049, Dennis has cast him in dune. Hope he becomes a regular in his movies.
Glad I didn't know about this short until after I watched 2049 a bunch of times. Knowing that this is how Sapper was ID'd after understanding the aftermath this caused, means more to me
How this didnt make it into the final film I'll never know. Fantastic 5 mins that give a small but valuable back story to his character. Love the film but this would have been the perfect intro in my opinion.
He needs more roles, he's a good actor
I could watch a thousand of these films.
Man what a performance by Batista!
Now THAT WAS DAMN STUNNING...
Bravo!
Adam savage at 3:09
Peter Jensen whoa dude now why is he in this?!
I know he's a huge fan of blade runner but how did he get into this?
He has connections throughout Hollywood so probably pulled some strings.
As part of Tested.com he went behind the scenes on the actual movie, and got a hookup through Tony to be in this.
He talks about it in his podcast from 9/26/17! Supercool!
(slight) Spoiler Warning
Too bad we didn't get more of these street-level scenes in the final movie. Lots of overhead flying and barren wastelands
I honestly thought we were gonna see off-world colonies. The abandoned city where deckard was hiding looked like Mars.
The way this played into the main feature was just so, so solid. And Dave Bautista is ace. Totally ace.
You can tell the man put in the work.
And work, he did.
