The EPA is a bit wacky with their fuel ratings sometimes, so I could see this car getting better gas mileage than Mercedes claims. Audi interiors on the upper models are much nicer, but the A4 interior never really impressed me. I haven't driven an older C-class in a while so I couldn't comment on that interior, but this 2012 one was nice to me. The A4 steering wheel seemed a bit numb to me. The Mercedes was light but still had good feel for me. Thanks for your comments Guido!
I drove one of these on loan from John Sisson last month and it grew on me. Wasn't trilled with it at first, but after a day I really got used to it. The one thing that drove me nuts though was the steering wheel completely blocks out the speedo between 40 and 120 mph. I tried adjusting the seat and/or wheel, but couldn't find a comfortable position that allowed me a clear view of the speedometer without contorting my neck to look around the wheel. Prob solved by using the digital speedo tho.
I find the controls on the door better, for example, when my wife is driving, she moves the seat high and forward, but i need it back and down. it's great to be able to adjust the seat to what you want without cramming myself into a small space, or crouching down next to the car before getting in, and with the memory of where you have your seat adjusted, it's even better. i can adjust it to where i need without even bending over.
im planning to get this mercedes c300 as my first car as a teen, i found one on facebook marketplace with 150k miles on it. Any advice for a teen like myself i should look out for when buying the car?
Nice review! I own this car and for some reason there are two things I absolutely hate about it. First of all, I think the suspension is extremely stiff. Going over small humps creates a lot of discomfort and the car is just really bumpy on badly paved roads. Mine has the 17 inch rims but I also own an S class with 20 inch AMG rims but the ride is so much better on the s class so I cant say the wheels are the culprit. Another major annoyance is the throttle lag. Why would such a car even have a delayed response to gas pedal input at all times? It's not a turbocharged engine so it seems totally unacceptable to have such a thing in a 2012 C class. Other than that, the car is a joy to drive in bad weather and on twisty mountain roads. Could you please give me your opinion on that?
Funny you mentioned throttle lag... I've driven this car and absolutely loved it's all-around driving dynamics, design, and creature comforts (p.s., I agree ride could be just a tad bit jarring at times), but the one thing that was blatantly obvious and truly frustrating was the extreme delay in throttle response. Initially, I thought it was just me because every review (including this one) praises this car and makes not a peep about the throttle response. Glad I'm not the only one to have noticed it lol
+behemothinferno I have the same concern as well. The throttle lag is horrible below 55mph or city driving. I feel like i have to slam the gas peddle to get the car to take off. This is the most frustrating part of the car. I thought for a while that there was some issue with it. My belief is that the engine is controlled by computers and that takes away from the classic, normal feel you get from an engine.
I am about to purchase a used Mercedes like this one, dealer asking $17,000 with 42,000 miles, 2012. Wondering if this is a good deal? Great review btw.
reviews are never going to please everyone, but it's nice to hear other's opinions about stuff. I would suggest cleaning the car before a review, especially vacuuming the interior and trunk, gives the video a more polished look. I'm assuming this is someone's actual car? Looks like a dent on the rear left fender near the door. I think the Audio interior is a built much nicer but once again, an opinion. Thanks for expanding your reviews to other brands.
I have driven well over 10.000 miles including a long term tire test with different C-Classes...Fuel economy was always excellent with these cars...Your comment about the interior of the Audi being more 'plasticy ' is odd. The first W204s had a really badly made centerconsole until they changed it in 2011. Still no match to Audi for me. @3:50 : You prefer the C-Class' steering to the A4s ? I never liked it, way too light and it doesn not feel very connected to the road. Anyway: Well done,Matt
Nice review! I enjoyed it! I'm thinking about doing a review of the Prius and then the Honda Odyssey while trying to sort of model from your videos. Do some more!
looked at a 300 then a 250 took out a bmw for the same price and it had 240hp and better gas milage another eww was the cruise control arm in the way of the turn signal
The car here has a star on the hood; I assume the luxury model. If you tested the sport model (distinguished by a star on grille), the suspension is tauter and steering rack quickened. It is much sportier. As for fuel consumption, Mercedes tends to overstate their mileage. My C350 4matic (Canada) takes 10l/100km on 70%city and 30%highway. Compared to my Mitsubishi Outlander V6 AWD that has less power and only averages 13.7l/100km on the same route despite similar mileage on official figures.
Pc Welby he drives small sport coupes with stiff suspensions. He doesn't know how a luxury car feels. I could see the car taking bumps worse than a honda accord in this video
I enjoyed your review! I’m currently in the process of making my own, but I implore you to make sure all your information lines up before making videos - small details, like 2012 being the last year, are simply not true! I’m just nitpicking though, your videos have improved by leaps in bounds in the last several years, and I do thoroughly enjoy them

You should have tested out the c300 sport edition instead of the luxury edition
Great review: Thorough without being overly geeky, just the right length, covered everything I cared about quickly and intelligently. Thanks.
these are awesome, my grandma just got a 2011 one and it drives amazing!

Mine is a 2012, with 100k on the dash and it doesn’t squeak inside or anything

For those comments about EPA, my new 2012 C250 is estimated at 31 highway, but my two highway trips have been 32.7 and 33.1mpg.
this probably the best designed styled Mercedes. so happy to have a 2014 sport

I agree with this. Turbo lag is horrible at times , and I live in Colorado roads are horrible and I’ve driven Camrys that are smoother over bumps.

Dante Legacy Gaming My dad bought me a 2011 c300 4matic sports edition for about 10k with 90k miles

excellent video but dent at 1:09 on the wheel arch.door
Very true.

Just one question, how do you mount the cameras in the car? lol
Do any C classes come with paddle shifters

Nice review mate! It gives a really good impression of the car!
Uh, 27 MPG is not poor gas mileage for a luxury sedan, dude.
this is just a really nice review
You should test a benz c63 or a audi rs5
Great review Matt! Might need to tag along with you if you do a S4 review or something haha :)
I counted 112 'nice'
I have the sport version of this car I love it
You’re referring to the c300? Can you give me your thoughts as for is it roomy enough?? I’m 5’10 & love the c300’s but worried it’s a little tight
@@Alex-jp3ek I don't have it anymore it became and endless money pit. But it was very small inside
@@LukeO-1234 what happened to it? I own a C280 haven’t had many issues. I use rockauto.com good part prices

looked at a 300 then a 250 took out a bmw for the same price and it had 240hp and better gas milage another eww was the cruise control arm in the way of the turn signal
Awesome review
Very nice review. You can soon be the next Kyle! You look nice to :)
My wife has the red one.. they're nice.
Is this Malificent?
Amazing review i really like it!
+1
i prefer the look of the sport version rather than the luxury version
228 hp it went to 248 in 2013
This is way way way reliable as compared to the 3 series and the a4
It's really nice.
7 Speeds, but permanent 4Matic all wheel drive will drag down fuel economy.
Mr nice!!!! All Nie!!! Really nice!!! Nice!!!

Well the wrx Sti has worse fuel economy and it has a 4 cylinder
You should tell the viewers you don't know anything about cars
you comparing the ride of a luxury car to a cracker boxes
Pc Welby he drives small sport coupes with stiff suspensions. He doesn't know how a luxury car feels. I could see the car taking bumps worse than a honda accord in this video
“Nice”
Nice
This chap needs chris harris to exolain seat position and steering wheel height. The wheel is up by his nose.
I'd have a BMW335i over this anyday! Not saying this car is bad but.......
Too many words, dude :) I had no time time to translate it all :)
