    As a trans guy 11 months on T I keep struggling with lower abdomen pain. It feels like the pain you get when your period is about to start but the pain is often really damn strong. I haven't had my period in a solid year because of progesteron pills I still continue taking to this day as contraception. I'm scared of going to the gynaecologist and with top surgery right around the corner (literally) I'm just very anxious about everything rn, being a nervous wreck so I feel like I'm overthinking things

    I am nearly a year out on testosterone and loving it. I do have some atrophy and other negative changes as mentioned here, but at my next appointment I will be asking about topical estrogen to manage those symptoms. Some trans women also take topical testosterone to keep genital atrophy at a minimum, so it isn't crazy for me to hear that the reverse is also a common option taken.

    great video! I'm surprised that topical estrogen only has effects in the area applied. wouldn't a hormone have to get into the blood stream to have an effect and then once in blood stream, could have effects everywhere. it's absorbed in through the skin and gets to the relevant tissues but not via blood? any thoughts?

    • @lionhearted_ben
      @lionhearted_ben  ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Good question! Estrogen gel is a specific formulation to act on the specific sites it's applied to. It doesn't travel very far in the bloodstream and acts on the receptors around the tissues they are closest to. Hope that helps!

    • @lionhearted_ben

      Dysphoria is not a need for someone to be trans. It is entirely someone's personal decision on whether they want to pursue medical interventions in their transition. I see gender diversity from the lens of my ancestors in South Asia.

    i understand we have a risk, trans or otherwise for cervical cancer.
    i, and probably many other trans guys dont see myself getting tested cause its too much anxiety and dysphoria. especially where im from, being trans is extremely uncommon. so, with that being said as a trans guy and doctor yourself whats your experience ? do you get tested regularly ? and would you recommend something like a hysterectomy and trachelectomy to remove the cervix and uterus altogether to prevent cancer in the future ?

      I feel like I've been put in the wrong body a lot somstime; I wish I looked more like a boy and was seen as a I boy but even if I could, I wouldn't take testosterone right now. I'm very sure I will when I'm older, but as you said it's a life changing decision that I don't think is safe to make at my age.
      EDIT:
      Okay, after some thought and talking to people about this. If someone is suffering from dysphoria I think they should get gender affirming care (testosterone/estrogen and hormone blockers). It's not as bad for me but for some people being in their bodies is hell and they deserve to feel better. Also, I don't think taking hormones is as permanent as you say it is.

      The best rec I have may be to get topical testosterone cream for bottom growth specifically, but if you also want the fat redistribution/muscles it's gonna be harder to get without getting some facial hair and voice changes- you would probably have to take injections or gel topical for that. The good news is, electrolysis and laser hair removal are a thing, as is voice training. There are ways around some changes but it does take work, and has more expenses.

    Im not trans anything but i used to be a CMA, & a CPT. This topic is very interesting tho-regardless of my profession or preference. As a Mom (my kids are in their 30s tho, so maybe im now n exmom, like the cma & cpt titles?? 😆Lol n ! i no thats not true, im jk) i imagine raising a child dealing w this ... We all no how blunt kids can be. Sometimes (actually --most times) theyre so blunt. Alot of times they can really scar us deeply! So often r issues as adults, come from the stuff done to us when we were kids. Id probably have such a hard time rearing a child who faced trangender. I was a lil bit crazy protective over my kids. Smh somebody messin' w my kid?!!? 🤯💔😖 Not a good idea! Id probably end up in trouble smh not good. More than that issue tho would likely be feeling like Id failed my child. Mommys wear an exceptionally cool cape! We fix everything! Everything!! We always make r child's life easier or at least more manageable... From kissin' booboos to changing bicycle tires and gluing tea sets back together-- we fix it all!! Not being able to "fix" the issues going in hormonally and physically would just kill me inside. Sure-id utilize the doctor, and hopefully shed treat my child successfully but... It's not the same as Mommy'jng the situation.
