I recognize that guy saying "stand by" in all those strings :) That damn timer was my bane for the day.
Regarding the edge hit, remember that this is a visually scored sport. You might hear something, but if a hit is not immediately visible, we have to confirm it. This is why it's so important to paint the edges well between shooters - those are the "just barely got it" hits that make all the difference.
    Congrats on your RFPO win!

Hey Charles - First of all, if I didn't acknowledge your awesomeness in the video - My Bad - Thanks for RO'ing and making the event possible.
Second, thanks for watching the channel, always great when someone I know reaches out here on the Tube.
I shot the 2024 version of this match in April - No video ; but totally had a hit on the side of the plate, like it must have skimmed it. I was so worried because I already had a miss on the stage.... Thankfully we checked and it was a hit...
Take care, and see you at the range soon,
      Cheers,
      Karlos

Eventually, I will learn to notice where Karlos places his camera. Thanks to Karlos for taking the initiative to get this Area 4 Tier III match off the ground. Thanks to the CAPS club members for their hard work and all of the RO's hard work. We had a good squad, which helped to make a match bearable on a cold, windy day.

Ha - Ron, sometimes I move the camera when you aren't looking just to get you into the footage. Great time shooting with you Sir. Happy Holidays & also believe a Happy birthday due by now. Always enjoy shooting with you. Next year, let's do it again!

Great job Karlos! I particularly liked your comments while shooting RFRO on Roundabout. We all know how tough it is to stay mentally focused on the task at hand and how easily one can lose concentration. Great tips throughout the video! Looking forward to seeing you in 2024!

Howdy Harvey, Thanks for comments Sir, This was a tough match mentally, as I new I needed at least 70 to take the overall, Proud of how well I did, and almost made it happen, just had a couple hiccups, but overall a solid day.

Awesome! It is addicting - one of the best times you will have. Every problem in the world fades away when your in the box shooting, total focus is on those five targets. Hopefully the videos provided a realistic view of what to expect, let me know after the match.... Just shoot the targets one at time and you will do fine. If it's cold and your shooting rimfire, keep the ammo out of the cold if you can. If something doesn't go right, just brush it off as learning and enjoy yourself. Get to know a few of the regulars and they tell you even more. Best of luck on a great time. Appreciate the comment, -karlos

Debbie And I had a great time at this match. I was fortunate enough to be able to squad with Karlos and Ron. I learned a lot and look forward to applying what I learned in 2024. CAPS did a fantastic job putting this match on. Excellent match management. I am hoping CAPS puts this one on again next year. Karlos, thanks for your support and advice during this match. I appreciate it.

Hi Karlos, I introduced myself to you at Area 4 in Corpus Christi last April. I just wanted to comment on your RFRO run on Smoke N Hope. Specifically, the 1.82 where they said the timer didn't pick up all of the shots. My opinion is that the timer only has to pick up the last shot, the first four shots don't matter as far as overall time goes. Did the RO think the last shot you fired was the one not picked up? I personally would have given you the 1.82, because theres no way to know which individual shot wasn't accounted for and as the shooter, you deserve the benefit of the doubt. Just my 2 cents.

Hey Bud, I remember you & great to hear from you.
That a great point you make - I am not sure on the official rules - but I believe the RO has the final say. If they say reshoot - only thing to do is reshoot.
Will have to research this - I agree that by looking at the splits - the RO should be able to tell which shots where captured by the timer. Great idea for a new video soon.

Ive encountered this as well. AMG timers have to be set up a specific way in order to pick up draw times umder 0.35s. If they arent, theyll stack the first time into the second shot.
New ROs or ROs that arent used to people being fast on the draw will incorrectly assume the first shot was 0.55s - 0.85s when in reality it is the second shot.
That said, I dont mind reshooting any string. More shooting = more fun and more practice! (But i agree seldom is the makeup run as good as the origional.)
But Ive always found being upbeat and happy to oblige the ROs (and anyone really) pays dividends. Im also the guy usually making dad jokes between strings....LOL

Thanks for sharing. Great shooting! And a realistic look at how stages tend to go. If you're blazing fast, anyway!

Thanks Curtis - Realistic experience of what a match is like for the shooter is point. Appreciate the Blazing fast comment; This was my fastest ever RFPO match, I even had a PB on Showdown. RFRO was off on two stages, & didn't get the GM finish I was looking for. It happens, especially on longer matches. Was the video too Long - always curious how much folks skip & if I should just add the highlights... Thanks for the comment - see you at the range 2024 - until then have awesome New Years.

@@mindinbox I really like this longer-form video. Your normal productions are nice and succinct and there's a great purpose in that - most of them should probably be that way. But they're not entirely realistic, either, because a person tends to talk about how to do something then sort of show their best result. I like a TON of things about this longer video (note, I'm just about half way through), because it shows the course of the day. It's a long day, it's cold sometimes (and you hinted that makes a shooter slower), you showed several strings that were imperfect followed by "gathering yourself" back up and getting back on point, the numerous distractions which may occur, etc. I thought, if I was a new shooter, and if I listened to literally every word you said, I'd learn a lot. As a somewhat more experienced shooter (M in CO), this pretty much all resonated with me. Appreciate your video, once again! Happy New Year and I hope to run into you at the range someday.

@@mindinbox One of the things I am interested in is the mindset and maintaining focus and performance over the longer match, one or two days. Everything that goes into it from rest to hydration to nutrition to mindset. You shot great but those missing couple of seconds were right there for you on that last stage. That sort of situation is absolutely easy to fall into. I have spent a fair amount of time thinking about and considering best practices for performance over the longer-haul, and if you haven't done a presentation on this topic and how you approach it, I think it's a good topic to consider.

Karlos, great shooting as always. Question- is that 4.5 inch Black Mamba your shooting? Thanks for all the videos and training techniques.

    • @mindinbox
      @mindinbox  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Hello Hello, and thanks for watching. Yes, Black Mamba 4.5" although it's closer to 6" with the included comp. With the comp the 6" inch seems closer to 7.5 which seems too long, but really there is not much of a weight different. I own two of the 4.5", gotta have a backup - but I would prefer the 4.5" for optics (open) and a 6" for iron sight division.
