Rock vs DDP during the Scorpion King era would been MONEY considering how massively over Rock was at the time. No doubt in my mind the match would’ve become a PPV classic but it would’ve set records just on the strength of the buildup. And Dally shining the Rock woulda put him over huge the same way it did Hogan after fighting Rock at Mania. Think of the post match POP the night after DDP did the job.

No. Taker gets respect bc he has always handled business, professionally and respectfully. How can y’all blame him for what Vince and creative wanted? We all know he’s the type to roll with the punches and what he’s given. DDP should’ve never taken that trash offer of a storyline.
Vince botched every single money match he could have made when it came to WCW guys in WWE. Simply out of hubris. But what did he care he had literally just bought his way into a monopoly.
No wonder they hated him with a passion. Demonstrable ego and fantasy. I 100000000000000000000% understand Taker now. Hands down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every time I see ppl rewrite history and blow Taker, I just reply "DDP". Go watch that debut promo from Page. He literally cut the promo of his life on the Undertaker, and maybe the best promo anyone's ever given to Taker PERIOD. As soon as DDP said "I stalked your wife just to get inside your head", that shouldve been it. A month later, Sara is pinning WCW champion Diamond Dallas Page in the middle of the ring. Dont tell me "The judge of wrestlers court" never buried anyone, was always selfless, etc. He was just McMahon's muscle. I'm not saying he's any worse than any other top guy, but he damn sure ain't a saint, and he damn sure ain't DDP, who's spent the last decade+ saving lives.
Taker was also said to have flushed René Dupré's French Flag in the toilet because he wouldn't drink with the boys when he was legally underaged in the U.S at the time. People working on a worker's visa have to be careful to respect the law because these can be revoked very quickly.
Then they did it to Sting as well when he finally made it there they kept saying what’s best for business was their motto, and they always screwed what was best for business like Cushing DDP, pushing sting, pushing so many great talents from WCW ruined good moments that we could have had
People’s champion vs People’s champion wrote itself and should have happened. Typical WWE they screwed up every WCW wrestler that came over during the Invasion or after that point. It’s a shame DDP didn’t get to be the same DDP from WCW. Don’t fix what ain’t broken.
If he hadn't buried the WCW talent, he could have signed up Sting who had several years left in his career. There could have been matches with HBK, Randy Orton, Edge, Taker, Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle. The Invasion angle would have been a lot better with Sting and Goldberg involved.

The guys from WCW deserved better, they were amazing talents & they were part of some of the greatest times in Wrestling History. the mid 90's up until they sold WCW was some of the best times I had watching wrestling. & to watch Vince McMahons ego get in the way of what could have been, was something I'll never get over. Its a shame Vince thinks more of himself than his wrestlers, cause without his wrestlers, he is nothing, without Austin, without Taker, Nash, Hall, Hogan, Bret, Shawn, & all the guys that made that era great, Vince would be on 5th avenue begging for change. I will remember the great times & pretend like that WWE bullcrap never even happened. Love ya DDP, thanks for the Self High Five, BANG!
So WWE talent couldn’t win at all?
The wcw guys that came in during the first wave, the invasion, were not good. That’s the bottom line. They sucked, that’s why they didn’t get over. If mcmahon could have developed those characters and made millions on them, trust me, he would have.
@@upandaway5238that's pretty much what I get from these smark mark comments they hate Vince more than they do Eric Bischoff who actually k!lled wcw off.
They're mad WWE didn't shove their own talent out of the door for WCW guys, they want WWE to make same mistakes WCW did.
It simply the same as preventing a coup d'etat. Vince did not want the WCW stars to shine, otherwise they will have the politics for a real invasion angle. He bought them out to show the world they were not better
Peoples champ v people champ would’ve been a fantastic angle
DDP was one on the greatest & most underrated WCW Heavyweight Champions
Ahh DDP was one of my favourites ❤
DDP IS SO AMAZING RESPECT 🧡🧡
DDP is the definition of turning lemons into lemonade
DDP is such a good human. Seems like a legend
Peoples champ vs People champ would’ve been legendary!
DDP pitched a great idea to Vince. However, DDP should of known that Vince won`t allow any catchphrases that were fan favorites in WCW to be used on his TV. In Vince`s mind, whatever DDP did in WCW didn`t mean much in his company.
There were lawsuits against WCW for racism and the deal that Vince made to purchase WCW's tapes may not have included the intellectual property of some of those catchphrases. He made sure that what he was buying wouldn't come with the liability of that lawsuit. It's the only reason I can think of where he would do this otherwise it would be like RC Cola purchasing Coke and then stop producing Coke when it's the more valuable brand of the two.
5 time sucka!!!!!
I think DDP assumed that a man as successful as Vince would prioritize business over petty self-masturbation.
DDP was my favorite back then in WCW
DDP: "Hey Goku who is the real super saiyan " BANG 💥💥💥
Back then, the Rock was the People's Champ to me. But these days? DDP is the Champion the People deserve and need!
Cool the rock will always be the people's champ wrestling or acting
Rock is Oprah’s Champ of the Week
always see ddp's wwe career as something you probably don't want to remember. gave him a creepy stalker story, and then gave him the worst feud of his career. that taker feud was the most one sided affair I have ever seen. ddp had like 1 clean hit on the undertaker and thats when he hit him with the clothesline in their cage match, everything else is ddp getting manhandled.
I agree i feel like DDp should of fought back or at least have undertaker a challenge
DDP just does great stuff for people. DDP still looks like DDP. He's a good guy.
We all wanted that angle Diamond. We all did.
What a story. Is storytelling just a skill you pick up when you've wrestled for decades because the legends all seem to possess it. The Undertaker told stories for 45 mins at his hall of fame induction and the crowd live and at home hung on every word.
it helps being asked often and repeating your stories and thinking abou them. When I started to apply for jobs it was just a here's stuff I did. At the end I had my bio and introduction crafted in a cohesive way that made it clearly more engaging for me and my listeners
It's ludicrous that this guy's pushing 70, he looks early to mid 50s to me. He's gonna have that William Shatner longevity and be lucid and energetic into his 90s, mark my word
Bro this angle from DDP woukd have been GOLD. Then the rock returns 😳. Jesus... Man FUCK VINCE
WWE Emperor Vince McMahon just wanted to bury WCW talent like DDP and Sting
Yeah they should have brought nailz with them. Kept vince in line.
Funny how you don’t talk about Benoit or Guerrero because it doesn’t fit your narrative
Just like Aew buried Jeff Hardy, Hobbs, Andrade.
@@kamfisher1714he buried them too, they were mid carders until like 4 years before each of them passed away respectively… I see u forgot about Dean Malenko and Terry Saturn… cuz they were buried first😂 ONLY talent from WCW vince didnt bury was Goldberg
@@blizzavelliWrong, clearly you didn’t watch WWE 2000-2005. Benoit was in the main event scene until his neck injury in 2002
The stalker angle was so stupid. They should've just made DDP the leader of the Alliance. I mean, they were short on top WCW guys anyway. DDP could've had a much more significant role, especially at that time
WCW is and will always be the best hands down.
Wish and Rock DDP would've had a feud
The promos that could have been had between the Rock and DDP is something we all needed to see. They are both great on the mic and had a charisma that fans loved and they could have really played up that people's champ angle starting with making them feud over it and then later teamed them up as the people's champs to feud with whoever the bad guys were at that time as a tag team duo fighting say the NWO guys if the timing was right let whoever it was at that time.
That whole debut he describes that he wanted to have and The Rock vs DDP sounded a whole lot of a way better idea than what we wound up getting.
Dallas got put 6 feet under. Also he had to pay for a shag in storyline with the help of The Godfather. When he reality he had a hot wife
DDP is the real winner! He truly is. Such an amazing outlook - turning rejection into positive
True champion of the people
Is he though?
@@pinkribbonskies5731 yeah. Thanks for asking.
DDP should’ve been a main player in the invasion and should’ve been in the SS match. He was awesome even in the stalker angle the pop he got when he unmasked was sick especially when the crowd threw up the diamond
The Rock never once said that doesn't work for me and DDP never said it too. That is what makes them the peoples champion. Rock was over big and was #1 draw in the business what do you mean I got to put Austin over... Austin walked out because he had to put Brock over. Rock said no problem Vince I'm your man just here to entertain the people. DDP I need to drop the title to Sting on Nitro, no problem I love STING. Your going to win it back the same night.. WHAT? OKAY I MEAN WHATEVER DUDE.. I got you.. These guys are loved by fans because the business comes before them. On the Austin thing I don't blame Austin matter of fact it the right thing to do. YOUR STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN your not a jobber for Brock Lesnar.
Austin had no problem putting Brock over. He just wanted to do it on PPV, especially because they weren't competing with Nitro anymore.
@@MrM-u3h Austin didn’t want to work with Jeff Jarrett he didn’t want to work with Marc Mero and didn’t want to drop the title for Triple H and he was insecure and paranoid of The Rock’s rise to stardom and didn’t want him to take his spot.
@chuckbuskeeAustin was one the props to help raise the rock anyway.
@chuckbuskee also he buried Kane’s momentum when he beat him for the WWF title just one night after dropping it to him.
DDP and Sting were screwed over by whoever for whatever reasons.. the thing is though they didn’t deserve that disrespect, we didn’t deserve that disrespect and their legacy didn’t deserve that disrespect…and that’s only two from the other company I’ve mentioned, how many others were screwed over
Vince was never gonna book Rock v DDP as he entered the company.
He had Jericho come in right away with the rock in a promo, and some matches but yeah that's before the war was over.
You know what's so funny is how happy everybody was to just see DDP in the WWF. Nobody cared about the stupid angle. The second people realize the angle people were like oh no DDP is being buried. That's the actual factual history of the angle
Love Taker he's arguably the GOAT but like Solomonster said he doesnt get enough credit for burrying DDP..
Undertaker is supposed to bury people

I mean, if you wanna blame him lol. He’s just doing what Vince and creative wanted, at the end of day. And we all know Taker has always went with what they threw in front of him, given the many storylines and rivals that went sour.
At end the day, the only one who deserves credit for burying established wcw stars is Vince McMahon, because look how he treated Sting years later

I think you mean the "Ring Master."
I was wondering if anyone else noticed that 😂😂😂. I'm just imagining Steve Austin as the Lord of the Rings now

DDP was great.
His debut was epic. He did really well as the stalker guy....and he did it for the WcW so it made sense to be the bad clever guy. To be honest his acting was brilliant. The POP was amazibg and he pulled it off. It was after the Invasion when he went down.
Unfortunately back then Vince was more concerned about destroying legacies of WCW/ECW guys than he was in creating compelling storylines.
Good Story DDP , Great Advice..!
People give undertaker give too much credit because he didn't make guys look good if he didn't want to. Ddp, kronik, etc.
Brian Adams was a friend of Taker's, he didn't bury Kronik. Kronik just couldn't work.
No. Taker gets respect bc he has always handled business, professionally and respectfully. How can y’all blame him for what Vince and creative wanted? We all know he’s the type to roll with the punches and what he’s given. DDP should’ve never taken that trash offer of a storyline.

Taker was also said to have flushed René Dupré's French Flag in the toilet because he wouldn't drink with the boys when he was legally underaged in the U.S at the time. People working on a worker's visa have to be careful to respect the law because these can be revoked very quickly.

Was totally hardcore WWE since before the first Wrestlemania, but thought WCW had the better storylines during the Monday Night Wars.... up until the "Finger Poke of Doom" which essentially killed WCW in one night. But I digress (hehe)... there's one thing that made DDP stand above Rock for me (and I was a Day 1 Rock fan) The Rock called HIMSELF the People's Champion. DDP was the Champion of the PEOPLE.
