I was just wondering about how minimalists made it! Thanks for this information. We live very rurally so I have the prepper stuff. I laughed when you said you don’t want to deal with it cuz I don’t either, but feel I must. The saying is beans, bullets, and bandages in some order. Antibiotics and a sprouting jar with sprouting seeds are lifesaving and don’t take up much space.
Wow, you did a great job holding things together! Your boys are lucky to have such faithful parents. Thankful you felt a sense of community and are with power again.
Thank you for sharing your family’s experiences regarding this journey and your thoughtful comments . Yes, everyone’s experiences are unique and not to be compared but we can learn from each other with God’s grace. Love how you share your Christian faith in action unashamedly. Praying for you and everyone impacted by the storms of life.
Thank you, Mary Beth. Such a great video. I so look forward to watching your videos so I’m delighted that there are more coming our way. Glad you and your family are safe and sound.
Thank you Mary Beth for sharing your survival story. I have been thinking about my expectations and how those effect my mood and life. I have been sick almost 2 weeks, flue and low fever rising in the evenings. Last week I was thinking every morning that tomorrow I am healthy and I can do normal things and meet people. And in the evening I have felt sick again. When I lowered my expectations I feel much better. I can enjoy my life just way it is. And count my blessings. I learn to rest without quilt and without feeling that I should do something. I live in the area where are no tropical storms but we share long border with Russia. Many of us have prepared for war. Even my son (21 year old) said that can we do dry wood enough for winter at my rural cottage. I case of war I could live in the cottage and he would go to fight in the war. We have mandatory military service and my son was last year in the military service and now he is going to practice more one weekend. He is studing in the university but going to military practice camp at the weekend once a year. I am praying peace and hoping we could live peace. But at the same time I am thinking how to be prepared. My father has experienced war as a child when Russia attacked to our country. We are living in a crazy world. I have prayed that I could focus on the things that matter most. And be the light in this world no matter what. I am interested about how to be prepared as a minimalist. God bless you and your family!
FYI for Hamburger Helper or your own skillet meal: you can use canned black beans as substitute for hamburger and mix up a pitcher (or measuring cup) of the powder instant milk.
Praising God for your protection! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and tips on the storm. I'm in New England and I forget the essentials. Happy to see and hear that Ranger did well too!! ❤
My son has epilepsy due to a brain deformity called polymicrogyria. He was born with that defect but didn’t start having seizures until he was 6. He is on the asd spectrum we are pretty sure, as he is non verbal so it’s hard to quantify. Y’all might look into a good MRI for your kiddos if you haven’t already. Thankfully our son’s seizures are very well controlled with medication. I know it’s scary, but y’all got this!
I’m so glad you and your family are safe. I’ll be honest I giggled when you got to the laundry portion bc I too have a need for pretty and have a canister of clothes pins above my laundry room cabinets. And have rope in our 72 hr bags. I do also keep a couple drying racks inside my house- one for my hobby of quilting and one for laundry day. All would have worked in my favor had I needed them.
wow girlfriend you have had quite a month! I didn't realize you was in that area! So glad your family is ok and getting back into the swing of things again. You will be in my prayers!!!
Great advice! It is amazing how much this stuff doesn’t matter. God started preparing you for this time years ago when you started your minimalistic lifestyle 🙌🏼. I couldn’t imagine what everyone has gone through during these storms. 🌀
I think so too! And yes, so many are facing so many challenges. It’s been a tough hurricane season! Especially for those who are not accustomed to it. 💕
That which doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. That’s the saying and it’s so true. So many things are sent our way during our lifetime and at times we wonder how we will get through them. If I had known when I was young what was yet to come my fear would have been enormous. Thankfully with courage and faith we get through these challenges.❤️🙏
Praying!! I have dealt with seizures with my youngest for 22 years. His medical case is now published on cerebral folate deficiency and seizures. If seizures gets worse at puberty often is related to mito. If I can ever help or if need to talk. Please message.
After hurricane María, in Puerto Rico, my mom and brother spend little more than 6 months without electricity, living in 2 different areas of the island. I was lucky, just 45 days.
Ou are undoubtedly familiar with these resources, I share anyway… “Making Mindy Mom” puts together meal kits that can be made by kids on their cooking night, given to neighbors or just used. Another resource is “Dad Budget Adventures” He makes MREs that don’t need cooking. He often uses a “truckers lunchbox” to warm / Cook meals.
Are there people near you who need somewhere to stay? We live about 1200km from where hurricanes typically hit in Australia, so it's not something we can offer. The closest threats to us have been bushfires an hour west of us, many years ago that claimed many lives and hundreds of properties. Makes me realise how much we have to share, esp our church.
I do not know of a literary agent but when I was attempting the novelist path (long story), I purchased a used copy of Writer's Market and just started the query process through that. 0:00 partially completed manuscript). There is a ton of information in the book and you do not have to get the most recent one. I wish you all the best in your endeavors. I love to write, but have not been able to settle on a nonfiction subject matter. Maybe when I retire :)
"Hard is hard no matter how you slice it." Thank you for that. ❤
Thanks so much for watching! 💕

So sorry you had to go through all this. Could you give us a tour of your home to show us where things were and how its set up as minimalist.
Yes! It’s on my list for some upcoming content.

I think you would like Leanna Crawford songs. ☺
I will check her out! Thanks!
Thank you, so practical like the 5 wise virgins & stewards in Matthew 24 & 25 in Christian Bible
