- Merry Christmas! While this is a very sad day for all of us George Michael fans, I think it should also be seen as a day to celebrate George's life and everything he accomplished. One of these accomplishments was Wham!'s Last Christmas which is seen here in a rare post-Wham! Performance.

Like Elvis,Freddy Mercury Michael Jackson, Prince, David Bowie and so many “one of a kind” artists that have passed, George Michael will never be replaced. When I first saw Wham on MTV, I remember thinking how generous George was. Andrew, wasn’t so bad either. George was the entire package and every female knew it. No one cared if he was gay. All we knew, he was a fanatic singer and songwriter. RIP sweet man. You left us way too soon. Thanks for the memories and the music you left behind. We forever miss you.
His death was and remains a tragedy. It was a shock to wake up to the news on Christmas Day 2016. You could not make up the irony on a number of levels, including the sentiments and significance of this song. I am still struck by the muted reaction to his death in the UK media. I think it was due to homophobia and the fact that he had been targeted by the tabloids previously. Tall poppy syndrome is a real problem in Britain as well, building people up to knock them down. Elements of the British media does not like it when someone like George Michael stands up for themselves and is unapologetic about who they are.
I had a huge crush on Michael in college when Wham first made it big in the US.
