Very nice restore of the Hoist Jon. Nice restore of the Prayer Wheel, both jobs well done. Coffing Hoist were our many hoist we used on the ships. I fixed up many a hoist. They are the best hoist around. Thanks for sharing the great restore.
Right On Randy! 🙌 That’s cool to hear that you had them on the ships. This is one of the best chain hoists I’ve owned. I’ve got some other old school ones. Maybe I’ll do some restoration on those!
thxs for sharing...Glad to see, "The Inspector" is earning her keep and you sharing your love with her by giving her a forever home...as for this current project I can only say, "wish there was more to watch"...your videos are marinated in your 60's style of humor that add to your excellent content compounded by superior editing & camera work...Right On Jon (YOUR BEST TOTAL VIDEO TO DATE)
Jon, this is another example of the deluxe restorations that we’ve come to expect from you. Beautiful result and satisfying to watch your process. Right on!👍
Right On! 🙌Thanks! That’s nice to hear! I’m glad you enjoyed the restoration. I had a fun time working on it. I’ll have to do some more restoration videos.
Jon, ive used those type of hoists hundreds of times and always wondered how they worked. This was a great video to show how they worked and how many parts are inside. Right on Jon and thanks for the education! 👏📽🇺🇸
Right On Roger! 🙌 Same here! I haven’t taken one apart and was excited to see all the inner workings as I took it apart. It’s a great mechanism. Perhaps I’ll do some more videos like this. It is quite satisfying!
Fantastic Restoration, looked worse on the inside than I was expecting, definitely must've spent time outside. I don't think I ever got over my amazement of chain hoists no matter how many times we used them. To be raising a steel beam that weighed 10x or even 20x more than a man by oneself is magical.
Right On Raw Bacon! 🙌 Yeah I could see that this hoist was holding some water inside. I didn’t put any gaskets back in when I assembled it. Maybe I’ll do that a some point. So many projects I’ve got. Probably won’t happen. 😄😂
Right On Roadking! 🙌 Thanks for the comment! Hopefully Fred is smiling down seeing the hoist restored. I’m really glad to have it restored myself. I put it right back into use. No tool collecting around here. I know that hoist wants to lift things. 💪😄
Right On! 🙌Thanks John! I thought you and the restoration gang would enjoy that one! You are the king of before and after videos! They are really fun! I’m sure you have some hoists laying around your place!
Right On Tony! 🙌 Thanks! Yeah I thought it was going to be a quick restoration but it did have lots of parts and so many things to clean up. I’m glad to have it back in good shape.
Turned out nice. When I was growing up these would be in one of three places, the driveway of a corncrib, on the limb of a big oak tree or in the shop. It all depended on what you had available.
Jon, I had the same curiosity of taking everthing I had and things around the house, many I NEVER got back together, so much my mother called me a litte destructive, NOT so nice BASTURD. So when this take apart working plastic clock ( TICK TOY CLOCK) she bought it for me, and I tore it apart and put it together a hundred times LOL
Ha! Nice! I’ve still got a bunch of projects in pieces around my shop that need to be put back together! I’ve got that old Champion post drill that I took apart years ago on TH-cam and never finished! Probably good to have the video of me taking it apart so I can put it back together! 😄
I will reveal a trade secret, that even some expert riggers do not know. If you look at the FACE of the chain hoist (with the hoists hand pull side FACING you), The chain on the RIGHt is always UP and the one on the left is always DOWN. :)
It looks like that one screw holding the hook on the end of the chain is the weakest part of the entire unit. I am surprised that it was not designed with some sort of backup. I guess if it has lasted this long,..
Great episode! That hoist has a really interesting mechanism.
Right On MagDad! 🙌 I appreciate that! And thanks for the card, I’d vote for Chuck any day! 🐦
@@RightOnJonCraneI think Chuck was hoping you would Flitz the outer case instead of painting it. Still turned out beautifully...

what Jon calls the brake pad isn't the clutch?

@@RightOnJonCrane Right On Jon.

Right On Tom! 🙌 That’s one of the best comments I’ve read! Thank ye kindly! Mama shop cat says hello! 🐾

It's been a while since I've seen a video with so many useful tips and tricks that I hadn't seen or thought of before
Right On! 🙌 Thanks for that comment. This video did cover a lot of details and tools! Glad you liked the video!
I have a 3 ton hoist thats sitting out in the yard in the weather, just WAITING for this video to inspire me.!! Thanks for the upload
Hey Right On! 🙌 that’s cool to hear. 3 ton is a nice size. Well worth the restoration!
I couldn’t wait for this video to drop and Jon you did not disappoint! Superbly done! 😃👍

Just a great video...really liked the step by step how and why...your videos are so worth the time spent...A++...🖖
Right On! 🙌Thanks! That’s nice to hear! I appreciate the compliment!!
A couple of coats of clear does wonders to protect your paint. Great job. 👍
Right On! 🙌 I probably will give it a shot of clear. Thanks for the nice comment!
Excellent video. Amazing how many parts are in that hoist. Impressive design and you did an excellent restoration. Thanks
Right On Tony! 🙌 Thanks! Yeah I thought it was going to be a quick restoration but it did have lots of parts and so many things to clean up. I’m glad to have it back in good shape.

Sounds like it was in all the right spots! My friend had pigs and had lots of corn in the corn crib! I haven’t thought about that in a while. 🐷 🌽

wonderful
Right On! 🙌Thanks!
I have rigged up and hoisted with hand operated chain hoists that had a 25 ton capacity!
Right On! 🙌 25 ton is a big one! I’ve got a 3 Ton electric chain hoist that is huge. Must weigh 350 lbs.
I will reveal a trade secret, that even some expert riggers do not know.
If you look at the FACE of the chain hoist (with the hoists hand pull side FACING you), The chain on the RIGHt is always UP and the one on the left is always DOWN. :)
Right On! 🙌 That’s a good tip. Nice to get oriented with a tool. Got to be precise with that chain sometimes.
It looks like that one screw holding the hook on the end of the chain is the weakest part of the entire unit. I am surprised that it was not designed with some sort of backup.
I guess if it has lasted this long,..
FYI- YOUR SHOP EFFFFFFFFFFIN' RUUUUUUUUUULES!!!!
Hey! Right On! 🙌 I like that comment! Thanks!
