    I know this video is old but yeah the newer Cayennes and Porsches didn't use steering locks. I forget the reason they said to us in training.

    One thing I learned before condemning a starter is to spin the engine manually to make sure it isn’t seized. Learned that the hard way Lol good video Mario

      A Sized engine will make the starter goes *CLUNK* dead starter will be dead silent

    Great video as usual! I agree that was bizarre there was no steering lock on this vehicle! I can't say I've ever run across that either! Especially since the Cayenne is the cousin of the Touareg and I'd expect a steering lock on that vehicle for this era as well. Cool to see you talk out the process on camera! Keep it going :)

    great one! I liked that the module for ignition was very close to the ingition key :)
    maybe american cayenne models are without steering lock ?

      That made for easy testing! One of my favorite features. Some say the electric rack is the steering lock, but if it is, it did a poor job because i could move that steering wheel easily

    Hi, awesome channel bro! question for my 2008 Cayenne S 4.8 non-turbo won't start not even a crank dash light shows PRESS BRAKE PEDAL. I already fixed the common issues of corroded wires in the driver side floor. Brake lights turns on when you step on brake pedal, It has brand new battery (i also tried with jumpstart), replaced starter, new starter relay, new ECU relay. Any other tips to get this thing running is highly appreciated. Thanks!

    Great vid Mario! My ‘13 Cayenne with 80k miles right now is in the same situation, which btw my steering does not lock either. Replaced battery about 2 months ago. One day, no start or crank. Going off a forum, replaced the starter relay..didn’t fix the issue. Tried jump starting the car, and after numerous, many many, attempts and letting it charge for minutes, it finally started. However…few weeks later, same situation, and again jumped it. And now back in the same situation, except this time jumping is not working. Noticed every no start situation, the dash showed voltage of 12.0, sometimes 11.9 or lower. I’m starting to wonder if maybe I have a bad battery, or a slow drain. But not sure why it wouldn’t start now. Hesitant to make the painful effort in replacing the starter, but also not sure if it is the starter…at a loss here.

      I’m in this exact situation you are now i have a 13 cayenne S no start tried jumping it and nothing, voltage also showing 12.0 and 11.9. What ended up being your solution?

      @@mikescayenne ended up replacing the starter. Was a decent amount of work. If you’re going DIY, I’d recommend replacing other components while the manifold is not, thermostat, water pump, coolant lines, etc

      Labor for starter alone, think 2-3hrs. Getting all the parts took the longest. I ended up going with Bosch starter, way cheaper vs Porsche “branded”. I’ll try to recall any helpful info and respond to the thread in rennlist

    Was up Mario , good quick diag . Reminds me to K.I.S.S. Sometimes we can over complicate things by getting caught up on scanner pids that don't apply to a vehicle like the steering lock position pid . Keep it up brother , you looked drained on that vid .

    Hey Mario! Love the content, so interesting :) I wonder if you can help me? I have a Cayenne 2005 3.2 that cut out whilst driving and now cranks but won't start. Turns out the Front Bank 1 02 sensor wires melted and shorted against the exhaust. This has been repaired, but no start. Could it be the ECU got damaged from the wiring short? Or a fuse / relay?

    Hi Mario. Have got a Porsche Cayenne 2011. No crank no start. Checked terminal 50 input and output checks fine. Got the 12v on the load side of the starter relay. Ground checked out fine and 2.5 v on the other load side and when you are about to crank it gives 12v. One thing that amazes me is I see no immobilizer light flashing unlike before I use to. The small red light by the right side of the steering wheel. When I insert the key the steering lock unlocks by releasing the steering. No code relating to no crank no start. Can I feed the loaded side of the relay a 12v to have the starter spin. Also when you central lock the doors from the remote the hazard light begins to flash. Any pointer to this

    Steering lock is performed by way of electronic steering rack. Benz does the same and I’m sure others.

      @@SuperMarioDiagnostics i learned hard way once. If you un plug the steering gear it will be a no start with esl or ezl or whatever faults. So I’m not sure for all of them but if I’m unsure, i look for electro steering then i have something to work with. Fun job i promise lol

    Excellant diagnostics. I have an ignition lock fault showing in my 09 Cayenne but good crank. Could this be no signal from the diag output relay 433 or a broken diag cable. Durametric reports open circuit code

    I know you fixed this already but I didn’t see you mention anything about voltage dropping the starter or spinning the motor over to verify it isn’t locked. I work primarily on BMWs and seen a lot of people get bent over from this ie(s65)

    what if you had a bad engine to chassis main ground ? did you check that also because I personally see this a lot on BMW AND MINI cars especially thoses with the bare braded style earth cables they get salt and water from the road and they just suddenly fail I not try to put a large load like a old school battery tester from the positive side to the engine block to see if the engine ground are ok and if the ground is bad I use a set of jumper cable from the body to some were on the engine and try to start it like that especially if the car is still in the parking lot and it would prevent me from pushing it to the repair bay .

      Yes, i didn't include it in the video unfortunately. I've seen those with bmw as well. They usually end up with no comms to the dme. I check that usually by putting a grounded test light to the block and seeing if it lights up like i did in my Audi video

    Before you took it apart, I thought you weren't 100% on condemning the starter. But once you got in there, you were sure. What went out on the starter?

      Sure i was confident that it was the starter before taking it apart, but we don't truly know that until we check for power at the starter. There's ALWAYS the doubt when we are unable to test at the component, because it could easily be voltage drop across the harness. Unlikely, but still a possibility. I can also speculate on what failed within the starter. My reasoning is that since we have continuity to ground, but zero solenoid activation, that we have very high resistance within the coil side of the starter solenoid

    can you tell me where the coolant temperature sensor location is at? i change the one in the front by the radiator but still saying 250 on the display even when car has been siting over night? 2010 Porsche Panamera. I change the one in the front but still having the “ overheating” but car is not overheating been check was told it was the coolant temperature having a big problem finding it

    Hello Mario, I arrived here looking for help to repair my Cayenne 2012, a few days ago it started to run out of battery, in the fuse box there is a relay number 614 which sounds like a clock, the car doesn't want to turn on, it only turns on the lights on the dashboard but it doesn't start, it doesn't try either, just open the switch, I would appreciate it if you could help me

    Hello. My son have a 2017 Porsche Macan Turbo. When use the key fob it will not open the doors. So we put the fob into the into the ignition switch and turn and we get nothing. We checked the battery and the battery is good. In the rear panel we have a ticking or clicking in the rear bcm box. So we are stuck. We can’t even hook our scan tool because we get no power. Can you maybe put us in the right direction

      Diagram states that there is (amongst other things 🤣) but i looked for it with the manifold out and could not locate it. I'd love to know exactly where it is! 😆

    Did all of this, starter spinning on the bench test 🤔. Awaiting the new starter for install but is it possible it's bad and bench tested fine?

      It does happen since there's no longer a load being placed on the starter. So you had good command to the relay but no starter activation?

    So I just changed 2 solenoid and starter for a 2008 porsche cayenne s it's cranks but won't start up but sounds like it really wants to I called porsche dealer and tech said we need to register the new solenoid with the old ones anyone got at info ?

      @@SuperMarioDiagnostics damn I’m in nyc fml still love to send you the video and ask your thoughts been having this issue for a year car on a lift and can’t come off due turning on but click when I turn the key we bypass the pyro fuse already to get on the lift when it was in the now the new battery new 433 relays etc but just turn I think it need to be jump very strong not a start cause click. Then I turn the key but also

    what would be the issue if youre not getting power and ground the pins that are parallel? On my car, im not getting anything from those 2 pins, and pin 30 on the relay doesnt have constant power, so either a bad ecu or bad module that sends out the signal to the ecm and from ecm to relay?

      I'd check live data to make sure that there's nothing else inhibiting crank command

      @@SuperMarioDiagnostics couldn’t find much live data except just one that says “terminal 50” and nothing else and that goes to “ON” only one time when ignition is all the way off then turn on and turn to the end to try and start, it doesn’t show ON again if I try to crank it again from the position 3 to position 4 on the switch, has to go all the way off and back to crank to show ON again, but nothing coming up on the parallel pins, connection from parallel pins to ecu is good, I checked that wiring and they have continuity to ecu, 2016 Mercedes GLC300 4matic

      That's a completely different car with everything completely different. When you put in the key, does the dash say "don't forget your key" ? Does the steering wheel unlock? Live data will be in the drive authorization, scattered between the ecm, the eis, the esl, and tcm

      15 is always accessory, and 50 is always cranking, no matter the vehicle

    I have similar issue on 09 but terminal 50 is missing from kessy, key in brake pedal pressed, key turn to start position, no relay activation, no crank. Starter works. Any help?

      My issue now is, key in ignition, steering luck and trans lever release but no start. Brake pedal press but no brake light. Starter works if crank direct from starter solenoid. After engine run for some time, it doesn't start until it cool down like 1hour, then start again from solenoid. Kessy not providing any ground to the starter relay

    My husband have a Porsche Cayenne he didn’t use it for almost 3yrs now and we try to use it it won’t start . We already brought it to a maintenance shop but they don’t know how to fix it . It will cost us more if we bring it to a porsche shop to fix that’s why we decided not to use it anymore 😫
