@@JS-ln4ns You’re just playing semantics now. What the author meant, or, at least, what I think the author meant, is that perfection in classical music doesn’t exist, because it’s much at the interpretation of the player. But still, ABM played in a fantastical way.
Michelangeli is one of my favourite pianists. I watch him all the time and he was my role model when I was learning Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum. Thank you for sharing.
This particular suite always remind me of Mozart in some ways. Not for its style of course, but for its exigency. Without being technically the most difficult pieces ever, I consider them to be tremendously tough to make sound as effortless and soft as ABM does for example. A bit like Mozart's sonatas ! Really, to me it requires the very best pianists to get it right
Surely you don't think this is on par with most of Mozart's sonatas... I can picture a 12yo playing this perfectly and without further need for maturity, but I just can't see the same for Mozart. I mean, if we're talking about playing beyond just precision and right notes/pedaling. Can you imagine a child understanding, just as an example, Mozart's A minor?
@@ulengrau6357 you need to overcome every difficulties to understand simplicity. It’s probably the highest level of musical maturity. There is no child who can play children’s corner with that simplicity. Children’s corner are definitely not a technical challenge but a musical one.
Thank you for posting this masterful performance of Debussy. Can it get any better than this? That recording studio must have been sweltering! I could almost feel the heat from just watching him. His playing was exquisite.

great recording and interpretation. Only part I don`t like is the little Shepherd. To me his version feels quite rushed. I listened to several version of this piece since I'm, working on it myself right now. I liek the slower versions with more feeling to it a lot more for the Shepherd. But otherweise absolutly wonderful and almost flawless.
Michelangeli had an aristocratic bearing at the piano---along with a subtle mastery of phrasing, dynamics, and pedaling that few pianists ever achieve. And he managed to do it without the histrionics, the fake acting, and false expression that cheapen today's crop of pianists like Lang Lang and Yuja Wang. This is Debussy at the highest level.
One of the finest interpretations to find here, flowing and sparkling.....
Frankly, it is almost perfect..We see Michelangeli loved to play Debussy
Almost?

Wow, I really love your thoughts on this. Very well said and absolutely correct
Beautiful playing, lovely sounds, I love these pieces. I played them a lifetime ago. Wish the internet had been around then!
In the ‘snow is dancing’ listen to the tone of the notes! Mimicking the sound of snow!! His tonality range is amazing!!!
The authority on Debussy❤
Actually the Debussy authority par excellence is Walter Gieseking, not Michelangeli
@@jasonhurd4379I love them both, but only Benedetti Michelangeli give us that delicious atmospheres entre deux siècles

No, non ti spieghi. Esistono solo interpretazioni, credimi. Saluti.
