The Glitter Band and Shawaddywaddy are responsible for me being a pro drummer haha . Seriously I've made a life out of it playing back up in lots of concerts and festivals . So I say THANK YOU to these days as a kid and all the wonderful music these and years on producer out of this little time island called Great Britian . Stay LUCKY and remember they can't stop you laughing or dancing 😎
Thank you so much for sharing this I saw my Dad with Tina Charles Dr Love doing the special effects - dry ice! It brought back so many memories of being at the show and my Dads work :)
This was one of my favorite shows back then! It was so cool with the confetti, smoke, balloons & bubbles...and great acts! 🎶 loved the theme song, too! I never thought I'd see Supersonic again ⭐
Had no idea Frankie Miller covered Sail Away the same year as Nilsson, and in similar style. Nilsson's version was more a heavy ballad, Miller's a blues. Tina Charles was so pretty.
as we KNOW Trevor H is featured here on bass, i presume the man on keyboards (quick flash of BACK of his head!) is Geoff Downes, both to "buggle" off a few years later with Video killed etc etc.
Wasn't this show performed live? I recall Kiki Dee singing "I've Got the Music In Me" live on this show and she almost took the paint off the walls! Blistering rendition!
I quite liked Supersonic back in the day. But it never really broke the dominance that Top of the Pops had. And without that breakthrough the advertising revenue was never going to skyrocket to the levels it needed to. Chicken and egg sadly.
Their variety of tunes as self-written just didnt gel with the audience at large (though the earlier releases did sell reasonably big, the LPs sold steady and the tours were popular), GG as a showman always blew things away on his stage presence. Later tours there was dispute between one of the drummers and Garry as to who could use The Glitter Band/G Band etc name for touring and recording)
Love me some Tina Charles.
She was the height of cool back then.
Singing live. What stars. It's good to see old pop shows and hear long forgotten songs.
So many great memories
I loved this show especially when the rollers appeared,,absolute pandemonium.

The Manic Street Preachers’ entire career sounds like it’s been based on that first Glitter Band song.
That's a good observation. I do see what you mean !
Double drums - fantastic idea!
This is an amazing show!
Oh man I’m old
No miming on this show, great to see Frankie Miller.
Great to hear Frankie Miller belt it out
Utter shock. singing live
Superb Garry, thanks!
The original silver fox Mike Mansfield 😁

Any more Supersonic uploads, this was very enjoyable?

I was there ..memories happy days John had hurt his foot and had to sit
He got a needle stuck in his big toe and spent 2 days in hospital
Supersonic got one thing right by calling The Glitter Band the G Band.
Everybody now knows that 'glitter dust' leaves a bad taste in your mouth? 🤣
😅
Cliff Richard...''Dream Maker'' sounded good but did it get in the charts?
The song made 27 in the charts, one of Cliff Richard better songs from the 70's
I have just discovered the Glitter Band as I was only 7 or 8 when they about brilliant group .
Better than Gary glitter 😜
You wouldn't have even been safe being into the Bay City Rollers back then as their drummer was into kiddie fiddling as well!
@@MrDegsy69 And to think I had a crush on him! Thankfully, I came to my senses and found someone more worthy of my admiration.
Its a good thing Jim didn't fix it for you? You had a close brush there!
Loved them. You heard their disco song makes you blind! It's different but great
@ 13-50...blimey...John Rossall on bass...but where has all the glitter and sequins gone?
Lovely show, beats watching the now drab and boring jools hollad show any day
Was that Trevor Horn on bass for Tina Charles?
Yes, they were an item at one point.
He was a Buggle too.
Anybody fancy a 'buggle night' because there always the best in town! 🤣🤣🤣
Tina seemed much slimmer compared to a couple of years before.

Bryon ferry doing .love is a drug .seemed it was played a lot on there x
To this day I'm friends with john
Did any performers ever fall off those very high, unsafe sets?
Marc Bolan through his bajoe off.

No one had a chance competing against the publicly funded BBC, very unfair. Loved Supersonic as a kid, seeing it again I can understand why.
Those sets were very dangerous..
Stand by camera four cue camera four zoom in, zoom in action.
How come The Glitter Band didn't do that well in comparison to that other horrible cnt?? They were miles better!!
