    Hey Coaches,
    Do you use any Pass Pass Screens? If so, what are they?

      Coach McKie I use two. The one you just shared and a slow Rb screen with a tunnel screen as a bail out in case they tackle the Rb.

      Hey coach, trying to get back into it. Had another addition to the family so I don't have as much time.

    Could do the same concept with a fast screen and bubble on one side and a rb slow screen to the other. Love double screens. U ever run corner and/or stick to one side then a screen to the other. I often like to run double hitches to one side and a screen to the other to protect the hitches.

    What software are you using to create those plays?

    Love your offensive mind and ideas! How do you go about naming plays? Do you use signals or bands?

      Thank you for the kind words coach. I come up with the play and let the players think of a name. 80 percent of the time they come up with the name. If not then I come up with them. Usually they are super hero names. We signal everything in. Don't like bands.

    Coach
    Do you ever keep running Y-Stick but add the Tunnel screen backside as a counter?

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. The thought process is: can I throw the stick route? Yes? Do not. No? Throw the tunnel backside

    This was being done by OC's in VA as early as 2009 with effectiveness. I think DC's have caught on today. In these clips, the poor footwork by the DB cannot be overlooked.

      Hey coach, we are a little behind the times in South Carolina. Not that many offenses in South Carolina don't run this screen so hopefully we will be good for a year. As for the DB, we are working on it. Any pointers would be appreciated.

      Coach McKie Have the DBs work plant drive out of a back pedal. They will eat the hitch route up. Advise them to chest the slant that is to say when they see slant get their chest into that WR. The DB coach should have your guys pedaling until they can't stand it and that is good because they should have their chest slightly bent over their knees. I teach a walk pedal so at the snap in off coverage the first three DB steps are a simple backward walk. This time is used to read WR demeanor QB action and whether you got run or pass. A pedal should follow the third step? If the WR is breaking your cushion your pedal should be at its max and you should prepare to turn and go. You want tp stay in your pedal as long as possible. This helps your read react time. Most WRs declare at 7 yards so if you see hitch stick your foot (plant) and drive to the ball. Not a fan of the T step after hearing Deon Sanders say that slows you down? Keep those toes pointed up field toward the goal line when you plant. Your DB coach should have the kids saying and thinking plant drive in their sleep. Now mix in some trap DB technique out of cover 2 and all of a sudden playing DB is fun again. Hope this helps. Coach Whaley.
