Review of Kipling Art Backpack M

Just like all the Kipling bags I've owned and loved, this is designed, manufactured and finished to the highest standard and made from high quality materials.
The bag is an combination of stylish, practical and comfortable. Made from a tough and durable nylon outer with an equally tough but lighter gauge liner, it is strong, lightweight and pleasingly weather resistant for use in wet weather.
It is surprisingly roomy with ample pockets: the main 19l capacity compartment measures approx 35W x 40H x 12cm deep, with a large 20x20cm open front pocket on which is a 18x12cm zipped pocket bearing a rubberised Kipling logo. Above this hangs the traditional Kipling keychain and monkey (Ray - for interested collectors). Personally I'm not keen on the monkey gimmick and always remove them - much to the horror of other Kipling fans.
To the rear of the bag is a zipped 25x25cm security pocket which is hidden when the bag is worn as a backpack so is ideal for holding a purse, tablet, Kindle or other valuables out of sight and out of reach of any potential pickpockets in busy or crowded areas. Deep 13x20cm open pockets to each side are ideal for carrying a water bottle or umbrella.
Via its drawstring top, the bag opens wide giving full and easy access to its contents. It is lined throughout with Kipling-branded nylon lining and features a large 25x21cm security pocket plus a small organiser section with pouches to hold a small phone (up to 6cm), larger phone (up to about 10cm width) plus a pen slot and a key strap will hold a keyring securely.
The bag is versatile enough to use for daily commuting to the office and will easily carry the day's supplies including even discreetly carrying a laptop. While in the office, it can be hung on the back of a chair via the carrying handles or placed on the floor where it stands well due to its lightly foam-padded base. It is equally at home for a day trip too whether a picnic in a park, day on the beach (sand brushes off the fabric), trip to a zoo or a walk with ample space to carry lunch, additional clothing, brolly, supplies for family members, baby nappies or accessories and all the paraphernalia often considered essential for a day's outing.
The bag can either be carried via its robust 4cm webbing handles, worn as a backpack via its two fully-adjustable webbing straps or slung over just one shoulder. It is comfortable even when carrying a reasonable weight of +6kg. The bag itself weighs just 620g which is very light for a 19-litre capacity bag.
These Kipling bags are not the cheapest but they are worth their price. They're strong, well made, durable and highly unlikely to wear out or suffer much wear and tear even with daily use over several years. The bag will withstand a shower, can be slung around without risk of damage (should anyone would want to treat a treasured Kipling bag this way...) and should last for years, outliving most other cheaper bags making it a value for money purchase over many years.

I just brought this back from Kipling Uk site, I love the back (medium size). Larger than I expected, my only gripe is the main handle isn't long enough to go over my shoulders. Which I think they should also have made adjustable handles. But if that doesn't bother you it's a great bag, strong, versatile and spacious. I would still buy it again in a next colour.

No, I wore the bag with just a t-shirt and it was tight. It's the main reason i fell in love with this bag, i always want a backpack bag with a longer adjustable handle. But a great bag nonetheless.
