It's not even slightly too bassy. This is by far the best cover version of this I've heard anywhere. Anyone who doesn't like it can unplug their subwoofer. I'm sick of hearing this covered like a pop song; it's basically the funereal dirge of an entire people and it's meant to sound like one.
I know this one... His version has the right speed, but the wrong tone in which he sings. Also the "woman" voice annoys the frikken hell out of me. Overall not too bad, i reckon, just not my thing. Thank you for suggestion.
I put this video on loudspeakers as part of a joke during my art class at uni and subsequently started to sing. Ones I got pass the hum the professor (the biggest nerd you could ever meet), without missing a beat, got up and started to sing with me. Before I knew it half the class was singing. The professor was so charmed by the event he gave us all a free pass on our next art project. Needless to say, it was worth it.
I'm always a sucker for a cappella, but this... this is amazing. One of the best a cappellas I've ever heard. Not only due to the sound of these guys' voices, but the fact that they just capture the feeling of the song so well. Superb job, gents.
Thank you for doing this with the book's lyrics! Watching the movie I got chills when they started singing this (it was just as I had imagined it would be) but I was so disappointed when they only did a fraction of the song. Fantastic job guys, will be sharing this.
When I read THE HOBBIT, I always imagined a deep, masculine, Gregorian chant sort of thing whenever the dwarves sang. You just pretty much took this right out of my head. Superb job!!!
Learned comment from retired English professor: wow! I just got out of the hospital with a nasty infection which included my jaw -- and sitting here open-mouthed has made it ache again. Worth every flinch! This is marvelous. More, more!
Oh... my... I'm speechless. That was far and away the best version I've heard, dare I say better than the movie version. Absolutely captured the mournful, reminiscent tone of the lyrics. And besides, Adam Chance is a bass cannon... Wow.
They put their own spin on it. Seems to me they wonderfully captured all the melancholliness of the dwarves and their lost homeland. And while the burger dude just kills everything they set out to accomplish in terms of somberness...that.....just makes it all the more epic. Well done.
I'm not kidding, I'm listening this awesome version all time, ALL TIME. And it means more than 10 times each hour, since days ago, so I could say 200 times minimus, I've shared this song with people, and some of them dont apreciatte the magnificence of the song. Really really amazing, better than real one, congratulations and thanks too much for sharing. I dont comment almost never youtube videos but this one deserved it, I really had to thanks for sharing: is my perfect song to do many things
Ever since I heard the dwarves sing part of the Misty Mountains Cold in the theater I was hoping for the day a talented group would do the rest of the song in the same style. Thank you so much for making my hope come true for $1.29. Best money I've ever spent.
I remember myself reading Hobbit for the first time (in Polish translation) when I was 8 years old... I was so impressed I could not sleep whole night... The Dwarvish song rang into my ears for hours, though I didn't know a melody for it. "Far over the misty mountains dim, to dungeons old and caverns dim" - I still remember this stanza, in Polish it goes: "Ponad gór omglony szczyt Lećmy, zanim wstanie świt Aby wyrwać lochom, grotom Nasze harfy, nasze złoto" The performance of the song is AMAZING
We so love the tale of Tolkien, that we hear his song in his poetry, that even when someone else makes a different tune of it, we feel the same dark, starry cold sky in our hearts, and burn with the dwarves' love of their hearth and home. We will follow the tale, and all those who follow it. Beautiful.
2:35 I fell on the floor laughing. He's eating a burger!! LOL. It beats the other two: the nerf axe at the beginning and the long hair guy squinting. :D
I have yet to find a full version with all verses. Well at least one, that is sung like the song in the movie. But while I keep looking and stumble across a video like that, I just have to say, it actually is freaking mind blowing how good this was. I will subscribe to you hoping, that maybe some day you may do a full version of the song.
Everyone needs to remember that the version they did in the first movie was not the original rendition. The original version from the book, was set in 70 BPM, which is exactly how fast this is.
Very cool rendition. I think the increase in tempo makes it seems more like a quest song, where the slower version seems more like a lament. The tone here seems more like the dwarves are sharpening their axes in preparation for war, with the emphasis on avenging their losses, where the slower versions are almost like a dirge and relate more to longing. Also about that cheeseburger. Dwarf needs food, man.
grr.. this is a great sound but why does every on youtube (almost) think they need to speed up the song? Part of the epic-ness was the drawn out somberness of the song.
awesome! Your voices are magnificent. its a little faster than the original, but I think the only reason that throws me off is, that I know the original so well. anyway, it is really good. I love it.
Wtfff... after literally and no exaggeration on this, literally watching this video for so so many times, I've just now realized this dude is eating a cheesburg? 2:30. What the fkk?!?! Someone really needs to explain this to me, did they have fking cheesburgers in TLOTR universe?
Nate Addy No Strav9 is thinking of "To seek the pale enchanted gold." The book version is MUCH longer than the movie version. The first stanza/paragraph of the song in the book does end with "To seek the pale enchanted gold." The movie version actually starts about half way through the song, with the stanza that ends with "To claim our long, forgotten gold."(Though for some reason in the movie I think they say "find" instead of "claim." the only reason I can think of for this is later on in the book when Bilbo hears Thorin singing this to himself he says "find" instead of "claim.")
It's dwarves who sing the song in the movie and their music is supposed to be like that. That's what dwarven music is known for. It's supposed to move others in such a way that the bass stirs up.
David Follett How the hell can you know what Dwarven music is known for? They're mythical creatures. From a real life perspective, this song has faulty EQing because the bass is overbearing. Your last sentence also makes no sense whatsoever. How does a song emotionally moving others "stir the bass up"?
I am well aware that dwarves aren't real. If you knew anything about the hobbit's background reasons, Bilbo NEVER wanted to go on an adventure UNTIL he heard that song. That's what I meant by the bass "stirring up emotions"! I never said "stir the bass" at all.
You know what, I don't need to get into this anymore than I have already. I was simply critiquing the song from a production perspective. The song writing and composition itself were not in question. I meant that the exorbitant "boomy-ness" you feel in your ears (here in this video/cover) is very distracting, and would be completely overbearing if played with a professional audio setup. But no, the first reply I get is some "LoTard" who completely misses the point I was making. I mean, where did I make a reference to the story in my original comment?
No, I understood the point, it's just that without that much bass, Bilbo wouldn't have been changed and that's why they had that "boomy-ness" without that, the song just isn't the same
Still too fast. Lacks the soul. They're trying, I agree, but I feel like it should be sung slower and less in a rushed way like this is. Just stating my opinion so please don't bitch at me.
Playing at 0.75 speed makes this perfect. Literally
Thank you forgot I could do this!
Thx
that distorts the shit out of the frequencies but if you can't hear that then okay lol
ITS so cool too
Yep.. no kidding.. good call
It's not even slightly too bassy. This is by far the best cover version of this I've heard anywhere. Anyone who doesn't like it can unplug their subwoofer. I'm sick of hearing this covered like a pop song; it's basically the funereal dirge of an entire people and it's meant to sound like one.
Could have been sung slower, to add the grim feeling.
Thoughts?
check out the peter hollens cover
I know this one...
His version has the right speed, but the wrong tone in which he sings.
Also the "woman" voice annoys the frikken hell out of me.

Petter hollens is really bad
This one is A LOT better
Agreed!

this is like velvet rumblings of glaciers in my earbuds... so GOOD.
THANK YOU!!! That's what I'm talking about! No high pitched voices, no techno shit, no beat. GREAT!! I love you guys. Love you!
So many awesome covers of this song, shows how powerful the song itself is to have this much of a following.
Learned comment from retired English professor: wow! I just got out of the hospital with a nasty infection which included my jaw -- and sitting here open-mouthed has made it ache again. Worth every flinch! This is marvelous. More, more!
Brilliant. These guys can pull off the tongue in cheek uniforms because it's such an awesome cover. Best I've heard!
Oh... my... I'm speechless. That was far and away the best version I've heard, dare I say better than the movie version. Absolutely captured the mournful, reminiscent tone of the lyrics. And besides, Adam Chance is a bass cannon... Wow.
I got the chills. Definitely the best cover/a capella I've heard of this.
The perfectness of the sound more than makes up for that fact.
Seriously this is the best version of mist mountains I've ever heard, perfect guys
They put their own spin on it. Seems to me they wonderfully captured all the melancholliness of the dwarves and their lost homeland. And while the burger dude just kills everything they set out to accomplish in terms of somberness...that.....just makes it all the more epic. Well done.
The cheeseburger. He didn't finish his cheeseburger. BLASPHEMY!
MaLynne Harrill BLASPHEMY INDEED
Hes probably being bombur
They stuck to the original version. Absolutely amazing.
I love that in the begining of the song the guy in the hood has a nerf axe. That and how awesome they did. Great job!
This is an enveloping song. I sat with my headphones and received an audio ear-massage. It was glorious.
I'm not kidding, I'm listening this awesome version all time, ALL TIME. And it means more than 10 times each hour, since days ago, so I could say 200 times minimus,

Full HD, eargasm!
What a joy to hear deep, gutsy bass notes. Love the melancholy tune, the deep harmonies in the underscore, this is a gem.
Love it. Especially the sandwich.
Personally, I think this is the most badass cover I have found of this song yet.
I remember myself reading Hobbit for the first time (in Polish translation) when I was 8 years old... I was so impressed I could not sleep whole night... Simply the best version of the song. The dark and deep voices are just as the title demands it.
Brilliant performance. Thanks for sharing.
Why this doesn't have more views than Peter Hollens' version is beyond me.
I love the deep resonance, haunting, and oddness...
"Adam Chance: Bass, Baritone and Burger"
lol

We will follow the tale, and all those who follow it.
Beautiful.
I've seen at least 20 different versions and covers of this. And yours is by far the best (including the original)!
Stunning performance!
your version really expresses the sorrow and longing of the dwarves
2:35 I fell on the floor laughing. He's eating a burger!! LOL. It beats the other two: the nerf axe at the beginning and the long hair guy squinting. :D
Talk about getting chills listening to this.
That burger bite though
Best vocal version of this song I've heard by far.
I was seriously into this song but then I saw the guy bite into a burger and I ended up crying 'cause I was laughing too hard.
Straight from The Hobbit book! The whole Misty Mountains Song! Best Cover I have heard till now!
The one with the beard looks like he could be in the movie
awesome
A love the tempo. I don't know but this cover seems like it hit the tempo better than any other cover I had heard!
thank you. I've been looking for some good versions of this and this is only the second I've found. great job guys. beautiful
I'm a total nerd and have been looking for a version that had the first stanza with suitably low dwarf voices so happy I found this thank you so much
I have yet to find a full version with all verses. Well at least one, that is sung like the song in the movie. But while I keep looking and stumble across a video like that, I just have to say, it actually is freaking mind blowing how good this was. I think Clamavi De Profundis' version has all of the verses.
I adore A Capella and this I played over half a dozen times before saving it. This is absolutely Beautiful!
R.I.P Christopher Lee alias Saruman!
+Sync TO WARRRR!
It's just like the guy in the gorilla suit: You don't notice the burger until you look for it.
Everyone needs to remember that the version they did in the first movie was not the original rendition. The original version from the book, was set in 70 BPM, which is exactly how fast this is.
Yurek I yeah I remember when I got to that point in the book. It sounded great, it’s awesome Tolkien included a soundtrack. So ahead of his time.
I do not remember this little detail. Cheers guys, I’ll check it out
Thank you!...Somebody who knows what's up.
Tolkien specified 70 BPM? LOL. I did not read this on the book.
@@tj21bem because it's not true
easily the best cover of Misty Mountains I've seen.
i wish youtube's speed option would be more granular. about 5-10% slower and it would be PERFECT.
this is the most amazing versions so far ive found. by far. they needed this in the movie. they needed it sooo bad.
I wish I could buy this on iTunes so I can listen to it when I don't have wifi. This is my favorite version. I just keep hitting replay.
A little bit different but still awesome!! a bit slower would have been better though ( in my opinion) :) epic!
No, its at 70bpm, its perfect.
actualy, parts of that song were in the books point of view, and thats how they should have done it in the movie
BirtyBirty1 We aren't talking about the movie though, the fact this this cover in this video is at 70bmp. Which is what the song is meant to be at.
actually i liked it, it was different
Slower or not, still a great song to listen to
Were it only a bit slower, but I listen to this quite often. Still amazes me.
Love how he starts eating a burger 2:30
I loved this. If only we can get the entire song I won't have to hit replay as often as I do now. Keep up the great work.
1. Download Audacity.
2. Lower speed by 10%
3. Enjoy.
or just slow it down on here
@@KAT-ew9wz I put it on .75 and just visited heaven.
@@alekpitsch4041 that distorts the shit out of the frequencies but if you can't hear that then okay lol
you guys and peter hollens have the best version of this ever. LOVE IT! can't stop listening to it
This is almost perfect. It's just a little too fast. Aka: the tempo is too high.
+Michael Woffindin artistic license.
It still sounds super cool!
Have you guys tried changing the speed to 0.75? may be more to your tastes?
@@blcs3270 .75 speed is absolutely perfect
Not gonna lie, setting it to .75 speed really sets in its throne.
This takes me to such a wonderful place. It's got that "dark magic" feel.
that was fucking amazing guys
Best cover I heard so far. Can not stop listening.....mhmmmmmm....mhmhmm..mhmmmhhmmm
You should try Skyrim's Theme
What an awesome deep voice
2:35 Bombur?
Yup, has to be
Best cover I found on youtube, passable as dwarves, FOR DURIN!!
2:32 so..... are you gonna explain what happened there?
A mans gotta eat.
John Roberts I thought we agreed, no more Smokey, bo-banders!
That's bombur, he loves eating, that's why he's so fat
Oh my god it sounds so beautiful. I love bass harmony.
Omg the cheeseburger...
PLEASE do the entire version! This was so beautiful and so mind-blowing and I really can't get enough of it!
I find the tempo too fast for my taste but the musicianship is flawless.
I'm crying happy tears about the amount of coolness and love for your awesome harmony skills
grr.. this is a great sound but why does every on youtube (almost) think they need to speed up the song? Part of the epic-ness was the drawn out somberness of the song.
The best cover on this ballad I've ever heard
Slower please it's to fast.
Beautifull Voices.
HOLY SUBWOOFER, DWARF DUDES! The depth of that opening hum totally caught me off guard. Damn fine job!
why didn't they get Avi Kaplan to sing with them...
great Version though ;P
cause he only knows the first verse!
+prndandrd1 :( he could learn it xD
You thought Avi was in this video, don't you?
Avi, Tim Foust, And peter...that wouldn't be bad
My favorite version I've heard so far. Pretty amazing, in my opinion.
This was great.. but couldn't you have at least PAINTED the nerf axe?! lol
Finally a cover that does this justice!
Excellent job but was sung just a bit too fast.
the bass is so deep and amazing, my headphones are vibrating in my ears :D
I don't like the pace but this is still awesome
Look up peter hollens he did it all on his and its slower.....verry slow and epic
***** I have done so and yes, it's epic.
awesome! Your voices are magnificent. its a little faster than the original, but I think the only reason that throws me off is, that I know the original so well. anyway, it is really good. I love it.

Maybe he is poking fun at the dwarf in the hobbit that eats A LOT. Idk
It's called irreverence. In this instance I think it's hilarious!
I can feel the bass in my soul and even though I’m a woman I grew a majestic beard. Thanks.
This is awesome, but too fast.
That is how this song is supposed to be

Man guys, in my opinion this is way too bassy. The sensation of the boosted lower frequencies gets in the way of actually hearing them.
It's dwarves who sing the song in the movie and their music is supposed to be like that. That's what dwarven music is known for. It's supposed to move others in such a way that the bass stirs up.
