I'm currently building CubicFun's St. Paul's Cathedral. The church itself is bigger than Notre Dame, but the model is a smaller scale, so it's smaller than the Notre Dame model. CubicFun's models are pretty good, but not quite on the same level as Clever Paper. I hope Clever Paper will soon release more of these large scale church models.

2:34 About that empty hole. One: Make hole(s) if possible inside the model where needed to let the light in. 2: Contact the maker and ask them to send you a replacement stained glass piece identical to one already in the kit (choose the right one and give them the part number). They will probably agree to send it free.

It wasn't empty, it was just that there is no light behind it so you can see it. It never occurred to me to just cut a hole to let light in - I'll pull the model off the shelf and see what I can do.

Comparing again with the CubicFun Notre Dame, which I built a few months ago, the CubicFun version has the unlit window in cardboard, as you suggest, and it does look better. Both versions have the plastic window material showing in the interior - I never really noticed it until you pointed it out in this video. I still prefer the Clever Paper version, because of the issues I raised in the previous video.

I'd love to see Clever Paper do more of these large churches - particularly the English cathedrals, which - as far as I can tell - can only be had as glue-up card models from Rupert Cordeax (not that this is a negative - I have 3!). Looks like the Cubic Fun Notre Dame is 1/250 scale and 293 pieces, while the Clever Paper version is 1/200 scale and 387 pieces. So the Clever Paper wins for complexity and size, but it is almost double the price...

@@medievalmodeler4595 Yeah, and I agree with you - the Clever Paper model is definitely worth the price. Actually, every Clever Paper model I've built (I own 20-30 and I've built maybe 10) has been pretty impressive, and some of them are very reasonably priced. I didn't know the Notre Dame model was 1/200 scale - since it's a bigger model than the CubicFun Notre Dame, I'm even more keen to buy it.

About tabs: They don't have to be so long to do their work so I shorten them down to the thickness of the wall/floor they have to go in. This way, they're flush. Then I paint them the proper color for added camouflage (Plastic model kit paint).
