Much respect to Nelson to being willing to come on and tell his story. I am glad he gets another year.
It's tough for him because two of his brothers lost their wrestling careers. I like how he mentioned the guys who got hosed by the covid cancellation. I hope he gets the closure to his career he has worked so hard for. To the Brands credit Nelson had to earn it. They never gave him special family treatment.
Great breakdown of 86, i hope aaron takes it and i think he has a good shot, but its a stacked weight and where hes drawn in will matter a lot

I think until he wrestled Taylor he had too many close matches and was very vulnerable. I am not sure he will do well with all the higher level of competition every round. Just my opinion

Brands weight choice is to go wherever STAROCCI isn’t, and wherever anyone else is that can score more than 6 points….i knew a judge once, that when talking to a DUI suspect, he would say, you’ve been caught this one time, but I’m sure you’ve done this multiple times….for anyone to think Brands gambled 5 times for 5 bucks is a joke….great touch to make light of him gambling by bringing up the KR song….this show should call it quits for the sanctity of the sport, and ppl in general. Lastly, I can’t believe Flo didn’t put the HWC CLUB block in the background.

Starocci is pondering a move to 197 Lbs. At his heaviest, Brands is NOT big at 184, so why not try to cap off his career at a weight he considers his best chance for a strong showing? After all, he placed 5th two years ago at the weight. At 174, he will have to beat out Gabe Arnold and possibly Patrick Kennedy. That won't be an easy path and that's in the Iowa room. At the NCAA Div. I level, there is no easy path, regardless of weight class.
