Salty is it possible to do the same to the K-Line DRGW F7 A-B-A set? Would be nice to slow it down for slower controlled speed when tackling the Rockies. It's so fast I don't think I've ever got it above 40% throttle for fear of it flying off the track around my ceiling.
I would not recommend doing this. The voltage to each motor will not be the same, the speed on each motor will not be the same due to voltage difference. One faster motor will be pulling against the slower motor. Motors may run hotter. Honestly do not see any good electrical reason to do this. If you want to run slower just reduce the throttle lever back. A gear ratio change would be a far better solution to just greatly reduce speed and increase torque.
Very important subject Matt! I believe all Williams locomotives should be wired in series if it was dual motors. Great video!👍
@TwistedMacGyversTrains Thanks Frank!
Dang…how did I miss this?!!! Awesome info Matt!!
Killer, very informative video Matt!! 🤘🤘💙
@@davidkasparian4089 Thanks!
Awesome and simple! 🙏 Thank You👍
@@RABSTRAINS No problem
It helps if they have prime mover sounds too! Great video Matt!
@@joeystrains.9316 Thanks, I was trying to be quick. Remember, I learned from you!
@@UncleSalty-nz5uk I'm 58, I can barely remember what I went into the kitchen for😂🤣😂
@joeystrains.9316 I'm right behind you brother!
Great info Matt. Made a new Halloween video.

@@jimh_vta Yes. Toy Train Tips and Tricks did a video on how to do in series wiring on a K-Line with truck mounted motors.
@@UncleSalty-nz5uk oh cool thank you I sub to that channel so I’m familiar with it, I will go look it up.
Can you tell which motor belongs to a Lionel, Williams, or MTH engine Matt?
@huntercoleman460 It's kinda hard. There usually is a small paper tag on the motor identifying it
@@UncleSalty-nz5uk ever replace the batteries in proto 1 engines?
@huntercoleman460 Many times. I'm agree with Nikolas at Warden Entertainment. We use Energizer rechargeable 8.4 volt batteries as opposed to the BCR
Williams engines look

@genemanno1533 Been doin this for years, never had a problem. Some K-Line units even came with a switch to toggle between series and parallel.
