Guys, If you are missing SVG format from Export as option, go to Photoshop > Preferences > Export > Enable "Use legacy Export As" option > restart Photoshop
@@TwoTwoFourSix Thank you so much for this - it is weird they got rid of a few of the options for SVG export, but I saw that copy SVG was there and saw your comment and wanted to also reinforce. Another weird and wonderful Adobe quirk.
Dude always when I need something in Blender I get your new video notification that completely offer the best way of doing that. Really appreciate your great effort and sharing it for free 👍💯
Thank you! This is exactly what I needed to learn. Using this in a boolean geometry modifier on another mesh, I was able to "carve out" a wood grain texture, which I used for a 3D print to great effect. Awesome tips!
There is no export as and then SVG in PS for me. Is this a plugin? I've created those paths. EDIT: I've found it - use "legacy export as" settings in the settings menu. After it's activated you will have the svg.
If you don't have "SVG" as an option on export - on the new version of PS you may have to: Edit, Preferences, Export and tick the box use legacy export.
Awesome! How do i add extrusion on all the curves that are in the SVG at once? Right now I have to go one by one (and i have like 100 :). If I select all of them and add extrusion nothing happens. Thanks
add a slight blur and export your image as a 16bit png. try making a modifier displacement from that image from a plane with a lot of subdivides. that gives you real geo. then clip off the base of it and you should have it beveled as well as extracted to geo....that way you wont get dinged as much on all the intricacies your dealing with. svg is nice but yea it req a simpler cleaner starting point. the other way to go is to convert your extruded geo to voxel surface with very high density. i like displace better tho prob more controllable.
Another way to do it that I have more luck with getting exact details is to create a cube in zbrush, subdiv, then paint an alpha of whatever image and extrude, head over to the smooth slider and slide it to desired width, lower subdiv/remesh a bit, export and done.
Just repeat every step with Ai rather Ps, and it's 100% better coz the Ps pixel base, but what we need is a vector base like Ai=Adobe Illustrator and use trace image in it. I am sure you already know that. Hope that helps
Yeah I did the same. I hate Illustrator, so I did everything in Photoshop for faster workflow, then did a quick image trace in Illustrator afterwards to make it a vector. Image trace is such a useful feature.
Yooo it worked. Although only borders where extruded and it was hollow i can just turn it to a mesh and fill faces. It's just a text to no big deal. Thanks btw
Hello! How do you extruder certain part to a certain height. All of it seem to be to a same thickness. Can you do a video to extrude the face to a specific thickness and the rest lower and the border even lower. Thank you!
Yeah, I had some issues with this, but I think it's mostly because I don't have the SVG option on my Photoshop, just on my illustrator. So I converted it in illustrator, but the curve it received in blender are all the outline, but they don't have faces. How the system built the file is kinda hard to manipulate for me.
after getting the black and white image in photoshop we can use the displce modifier with image as texture it would do the same job instead of making the svg
Exporting as SVG has been discontinued in Photoshop. I found doing your exact steps and importing into Illustrator and then exporting as SVG works as an alternate. I've seen people mention using Adobe Express but am unfamiliar with that.
Hey there, i guess i need some help. I cannot export as SVG. No matter what. I can remember when it was so easy and now it just doesnt show up anymore :( i need it and i cannot find any working method on youtube for the newest version of PS. Id be grateful for someone to help me ^^
Edit: solved the issue, windows only. Go to settings > export then toggle save as web, or legacy save. This literally fixes the issue, I think it just disables a few newer features. Be sure to look into what you loose before using this!
@@impatientcow9158 just a workaround that at least gave me something… insxported the path as illustration path (.ai) and then converted it on a webpage to svg… sometimes it works better sometimes worse… that’s all I can do for you :/ don’t understand why they have removed this feature
Hey bro can you maybe make a video on doing a 2D Graffiti word into 3D kind of like you did this? I tried I'm still trying looking for some sort of help on this thanks man
Ok, partially solved. "If you are missing SVG format from Export as option after the Photoshop 22.5 update then, go to Photoshop > Preferences > Export > Enable “Use legacy Export As” option > restart Photoshop. You should start seeing the SVG format under Export as option." Unfortunately it still doesn't work. It won't export anything. Think I'm gonna try with Inkscape
hey max is there anyway to do this with a picture of a city, for example.. have a 2d image of a city and somehow extract the shapes and geometry of the building and things into blender, i know it wont have proper depth but i think i have a method for that
You can do this by extruding certain areas just as shown in this video. I would use inkscape instead of photoshop to get svg.... much more straight forward and free
Frame 645, you skipped past this and can't see a close up what you selected, it's not giving me some menu like you have there, can you please stop to show what you did?
Hello Max could you show us how to make crashing waves for a beach scene for a static image without simulation? I cannot find good tutorials anywhere. Thank you
do you have any advice on prompts? I really like how my images come out but they have too much shadow. Maybe because I use 3D or bas relief in my prompt?
Excellent tutorial. Very concise. However, I would prefer not to patronize Midjourney and other AI sites who rip off artists images. I'll be following your tutorial but with my own creations in that same vein.
Guys, If you are missing SVG format from Export as option, go to Photoshop > Preferences > Export > Enable "Use legacy Export As" option > restart Photoshop
For anyone looking for this- it looks like they've since removed the "use Legacy Export as" option in the current version. :\ Thanks adobe.
@@joshuapetrino layer -> copy svg -> paste it in a similar sized file in Illustrator and export as SVG
Can use “ Inkscape “ for converting/exporting files to SVG instead… it’s free open source software 🎉

This video was EXACTLY what i needed!!! Thank you man
you can use inkscape to trace the image (convert bitmap into vector).
Neat idea, for those who don't have Ps it's just as easy to create 'svg' from image in Gimp which is free. Good idea Max thanks
If there's anyone reading this that wants to use Gimp but also has Ableton, the two have conflicting file types so a good alternative is Inkscape
If you don't have "SVG" as an option on export - on the new version of PS you may have to: Edit, Preferences, Export and tick the box use legacy export.
That's so creative. I had a feeling that was the process but you make it look so good!

Inkscape is free and can convert raster to SVG really well

Was gonna say there definitely should be a way to not lose the details by svg conversion.. This might be it!

nice touch showing the PS how-to-demo as well. good share. thanks
Instead of using curves, you can use the threshold adjustment in Photoshop
or levels.
GREAT! THANK YOU VERY MUCH. IT EXCEPTIONNAL

could you also take the gradient image and use it with a bump node to create like a coin without the cutouts? i feel like that would be cool too.
