Cable linked shifters usually feel better with lighweight shift knobs, as you lose less feel to weight. Direct linkage def feels better with a heavy shift knob. Play in your shifter can also be worn bushings. Def something to look into if you have an older car. Ive found that on my S60R, a nice lightweight shiftknob makes the M66 feel MUCH better

Pretty late to the party, but I just machined myself a solid brass shifter for my 2007 Civic SI. It's a bit bigger than the stock one and weighs 4x more, a whopping 27 oz. I've noticed and agree with all the pros you mention for the heavy shifters - Dampens vibrations, stays in gear better, just has a better and more solid shift overall. I will probably make myself an aluminum or wooden one at some point too, just so I can see what the lighter weight would do. Pros of working in a machine shop ;)

Bought my car had a weighted shift nob , felt sloppy , shifting didn't feel precise , found the original nob in the trunk , swapped it out wayyyy better, ordered shifter bushing for nothing but still gonna install anyways

At 7:10 If your transmission leaver wants to pop out after being put in gear , you have bad synchros or something wrong with your trans.

hmm, not very helpful; and it sounded like some of the information was backwards. Physics says a lever amplifies an input force to provide a greater output force; then when you add weight to the input force, well, the output force increases. Weight on the end of a lever. So, a heavier shift knob is putting more force on the shift linkage and items attached to that linkage. Also the heavier, more dense knob reduces the vibration frequencies transmitted through the shift linkage; thus less shaking (acts as a dampener, so you feel less). In the end, it doesn't mean a heavier knob is better. I think there are percentage limits over the OE knob weight that are okay, but past a certain point (e.g. 200% heavier), the added weight turns into a disadvantage.

Height/length of the overall shifter will do more for your feel and precision than any amount of weight can.

Yeah ! For sure all guy said "stay better in gear" that 200% bullshit.
Just the lever can do feel something like that

I subscribed and gave you a a thumbs up. One of the things we did in one of our sales meetings * I sold cars for years. We would be give a everyday object and we would do a mock sales proposal, build value in the object and explain why "you" need one. Maybe it would be a stapler or even a paper bag. You would be amazed what a good salesperson that can make a person. To say you weren't comfortable or that you didn't know about your product would just be hurtful so I won't do that. But you need a little more product knowledge. You said you didn't know how to say your sponsors name and they gave you two shift knobs. You could have called them and asked. Don't be a knob dude you just waste both your time and my time. Now go to bed and delete this, no one need to see this negativity. Peace and good luck.
