The racing line is slippery in the wet because it's rubbered in. You're practically gripping with rubber tires on a rubber surface when it's heavily rubbered. But when it's wet, rubber becomes slippery and you get the opposite effect, so you have to stay off it. There are also oils floating on the surface when it gets wet. The rubber will remain embedded in the surface until it gets washed off by rain. The rubbered line is inferior for grip but superior geometrically so you have to factor it all in for figuring out which line is best in the wet. In the extreme heat of Summer, were you to try and walk on the rubbered racing line your shoes would stick to it like you're trying to walk on semi-hardened glue.
@@rampant5139it kind of should though? When you're on a piece of track that doesn't have rubber in it you're driving over a rougher surface. This means that the tyres have less area to stand on, pressing them deeper into the track.
