      Lines are very important. A good line in a popular track can make a world of difference.
      Too expand on my previous statement; Trackmania, one of the most competitive racing games franchises of all time, has people doing the exact same track over an dover again, each time just trying to get a slightly better line; A millisecond more speed and acceleration off a turn to get you the Record.

    The racing line is slippery in the wet because it's rubbered in.
    You're practically gripping with rubber tires on a rubber surface when it's heavily rubbered.
    But when it's wet, rubber becomes slippery and you get the opposite effect, so you have to stay off it.
    There are also oils floating on the surface when it gets wet.
    The rubber will remain embedded in the surface until it gets washed off by rain.
    The rubbered line is inferior for grip but superior geometrically so you have to factor it all in for figuring out which line is best in the wet.
    In the extreme heat of Summer, were you to try and walk on the rubbered racing line your shoes would stick to it like you're trying to walk on semi-hardened glue.

    • @rampant5139
      @rampant5139 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    • @fireblow44
      @fireblow44 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +38

      @@rampant5139it kind of should though?
      When you're on a piece of track that doesn't have rubber in it you're driving over a rougher surface. This means that the tyres have less area to stand on, pressing them deeper into the track.
      Also, on the non-rubbery surface the aquaplaning should be reduced because the water can move through the "cracks" where there is no rubber.

    And that's how Ayrton Senna made his triumph in rain, not that no one except him knew about it, but he trained this technique for ages and mastered the slip drivin

    If I understand correctly, you basically have to drive a racing line thats opposite to the normal racing line in dry conditions when you’re driving in rain or wet road conditions.

    How does a lesser used wetter part give more grip? Wouldnt he like hydroplane?

    THIS is why no one can catch me on roads, I use the rougher parts to go round corners much quicker that other drivers.

    And that’s what the kid from the gran turismo movie realized when playing. And because the tracks were almost a 1-1 copy, it translated into game

    You’re telling me when driving you get more grip driving in the less driven parts of a race track (if it’s raining)
    I just don’t understand how driving on the same “racing lines” where more people race leads to less grip rather than what I would assume would be dryer and therefore more grip

      The 'dry' line just means the line you'd take if the track was dry, so in other words the normal racing line

    How does the drying line have less grip? Wouldn't the wet part have less grip? Genuine question.

    • @Just_A_Leigon_Main
      @Just_A_Leigon_Main 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s not dryer than the wet line it is called the dry line because it’s is the line cars take in dry conditions. Because it is driven on more than the dry line it receives more wear and becomes smoother which has little effect in dry conditions but when wet causes greatly reduced grip.

    • @czowiekzlasu3740

      It’s because of rubber and oil on the surface. If it’s mixed with water, it’s gets slippery. There is less rubber/oil on the line that is less used, so should be safer and more grippy when wet. Not sure if it could improve your time tho
