I know comics just don't make sense sometimes, but it really annoys me that a being with the intellect of Brainiac can't create a body immune to bacteria.
He did, that's what the multiple other incarnations were. Plus his main body probably never left the ship before then so he had no need to protect his original body from bacteria.
Presumably, most of the planets he conquers are so weak, it wasn't worth the effort to engineer an immune system for first contact. After defeat, he would likely be more prepared. However, sending an android should avoid the microbe problem. There would be some advantage to sending an organic life form for first contact. Alternatively, losing a battle is intentional. Losing a battle yields more knowledge than winning. Knowledge is the source of Brainiac's power. Therefore, losing is intentional. There could be something similar to the Spore drive in Star Trek Discovery. In this case, it's knowledge of microbes and other information that creates exobytes.
I've always liked brainiac's origin in the Superman animated series as a supercomputer from Krypton who went rogue and lied about it's coming destruction leading Kal-El to be sent away I always thought that connection was brilliant.
Brainic is one of my favorite supervillains of all time because he wants and consumes all this information and will do anything to get it but he doesn't wanna produce anything with it.

This is a great episode, I was unaware that Larfleeze has made such a recent appearance. You guys should do an origin of Larfleeze, such an underrated character.
Corey Burton voiced Brainiac from Superman TAS. He's the definitive voice of Brainiac. Corey Burton also voiced Zeus for God of War 2 and God of War 3.
All brainiac would have to do to solve his weakness is make a suit that protects him from bacteria and with his intellect it would be a walk in the park
So Braniac's weakness is germs.....and he doesn't think to wear a sealed suit with a closed-circuit breathing system when venturing outside. I am surprised nobody has defeated this guy by sneezing at his general direction.
I think the Animated Series version was the best. Braniac being Krypton's super-world computer but then going against Jor-El because not enough time remained to save the Kryptonians and himself. He was a machine and just as you'd throw out a coffee maker that stopped working, he was working to survive. However he had all the memories and information and history of Krypton so reasoned he could absorb that and perhaps recreate it somewhere else. In travelling space he went more extreme and absorbed worlds to then destroy them, only information existed for him. The origins just as the deco rocketpunk design were a modern tribute back to the old 30s - 50s "Gernsback" era of scifi.
The word "brainiac" came from the comics?!? That's awesome lol n I guess u do learn something new everyday ...The very word brainiac coming from the comics tho... that's fuckin' insane lol I would've never guessed that in a million years!!!
as noted with the Citation of 'ENIAC' it is possible that 'word' brainiac circulated by word of mouth before being put to paper (in a form that would last) by the comics
Definitely my favorite form is that of "robot skeleton", after seeing it in Red Son, seeing it so fragile but at the same time so powerful and cold, I loved it...
You mentioned the Brainiac has a 12th level intellect. I have this question on my mind now, how is the level of intelligence in the DC Universe measured specifically?
"Watch Superman: Brainiac Attacks, it's amazing" If you are talking about the 2006 movie, it is GARBAGE. Watch anything from Superman: The Animated Series, stay away from that film.
You could have used The Atom instead of Antman when referring to Superman shrinking! Yes, they both end in "man", but it would have made way more sense to use the former, if you're giving a nod to viewers who are already comic fans.
And honestly, given the powers exhibited by the Atom couldn't he have either restored the city and people to their rightful size or at least shrunk Supes so that he could visit?
Galan Liones Doom is the only great marvel villain imo. The rest are too cheesy and one dimensional. In the comics Thanos made the infinity gauntlet to please Death..... lame. Doom is the only one that has levels to his behavior, thoughts, and character.

I always enjoyed the idea of Brainiac being a super computer / Ai system that Krypton originally created for their people but went rogue and decided to destroy them for their warmongering (General Zod) and other harsh ideals. It creates the idea that although Krypton was a paradise in its own way it didn't get there without committing a few sins. Which is why Superman becomes Kryptons greatest achievement. It combines a deeper element to the character and also the good parts of the cool stories by giving himself an actual body and ship. With Brainiac believing he has won he scours the universe in his skull ship destroying other worlds and gaining knowledge until he realizes about Supermans existence on earth after following traces of General Zod.

the funny thing about Superman Brainiac attacks I watched it Wednesday. I recommend Superman: Unbound That animated movie is pretty good and worth checking out.
I read that brianiac comic and the implication was that he's psychologically, emotional disturbed and freaked out by germs and bacteria not physically weakened or debilitated by them...basically he's a germophobe, hypochondriac and agoraphobe who wants to say in his orderly sterile bubble.
Smartest guy in the universe, gets hurt by germs.
What a nerd.
@Razh 80 are you talking about the movie or the video game _Superman: the Man of Steel_
FRISHR lmao
Made me laugh
I wish Brainiac was a woman
Someone so smart I would think he'd make a special suit to protect him outside of his ship
I know comics just don't make sense sometimes, but it really annoys me that a being with the intellect of Brainiac can't create a body immune to bacteria.
He did, that's what the multiple other incarnations were. Plus his main body probably never left the ship before then so he had no need to protect his original body from bacteria.
Even how Superman flies makes more sense than this lol
Presumably, most of the planets he conquers are so weak, it wasn't worth the effort to engineer an immune system for first contact. After defeat, he would likely be more prepared. The DUACU had it that Brainiac simply suffers a blue-screen of death when trying to process that much utterly chaotic LIFE all at once!
It can be a way of saying, every being, be it superpowerful does have some weakness
I've always liked brainiac's origin in the Superman animated series as a supercomputer from Krypton who went rogue and lied about it's coming destruction leading Kal-El to be sent away I always thought that connection was brilliant.
I prefer him being from Colu. It makes him an indepedent, fresh, original character
And Smallville
My favorite version of Brainiac is from the superman animated series of the 90's and early 2000's
Yes !!! When Lex infuses himself to him
Yes. Voiced by Alan Rachins (from "LA Law" and "Dharma and Greg")
YESS!! Brainiac was delivered perfectly in those!! It’s a shame lots of people forgot about those shows
Wasn't braniac a kryptonia super computer responsible for the destruction of krypton as shown in the superman animated series?
Same. I love the connection between them with Brainiac being from Krypton and betraying everyone to allow their destruction.
