This is the false overhand shuffle system by S. W. Erdnase brought to you by professional card mechanic Houston Curtis. In this tutorial you will learn the techniques straight out of the 1902 classic, The Expert at the Card Table for retaining both the top and bottom stock while executing an overhand shuffle.

I like the red deck you are using in this video. But I don't recognize it. Or, I also like the Richard Turner decks. I know you have plenty of those too.

I try and use different decks all the time. The red deck is made by Fournier and they are from Spain. The feel is reminiscent of Aviators. The Blue deck I am using in the video is a Stud deck from Walgreens. Studs are awesome! I have a few bricks of unopened Richard Turner Bicycle Decks...I will send you one of those! Thank you for showing that in a great visual style and a good explaination. I am reading Erdnases book right now but I have a hard time figuring out the exact techniques just by reading and looking up the sparse illustrations in the book. Hi. I wish the same to you.
Progress is slow but steady. I already know some cuts and I can perform the Erdnase colour change smoothly. The blind shuffles are not so good at the moments. The problem is that the gaps upon the breaks are not really small but it's evolving. I practice every day. I find the bottom deal really difficult although I can buckle up and shift out the low card very well for the whole deck, but I can't hold the grip very long without the deck becoming loose and I have to re-grip. The second deal or the laser deal work much better... But I really want to perform the bottom deal too and I have a hard time learning it :)

So youre maintaining a break & then shuffling instead of an in-jog?

Hi Jon. If. R referring to the break shuffle shown at the end then yes. Another way of maintaining the top stock is by using a break.
