      If it dropped in 2015, yes. Nicki era Meek was at his peak commercially.
      He did not get to enjoy it or build off of it due to his drake beef & going to jail but this is not not doing 200k before or after 2015.

      @double0double0 swear the Drake beef was like 2 years ago and it got him popping again, so I'd 2021 he'd have still made 100k but mostly only for the hype of hoping he disses Drake on it, this time, no marketing whatsoever, it was bound to flop on sales.

      @SayWhat336 It kinda did. Before the image of Rnb was solid love or heartbreaks, The artists also pushed this image out in public. But the likes of Nicki(I love her btw) kind of finished it off in the 2010s after the genre was already suffering from the onslaught of the mid 2000s that saw rappers crossing over to rnb to extend their fanbases, basically taking and not giving to rnb. Now rnb is no longer the soft loving and intimate genre anymore but is filled with disgusting, vulgar and ratchet lyrics that girls be hoes while dudes be drug dealers and gangbangers.

    You’ve got to let it be known that “album equivalents” are not the same as actual units sold. The industry really needs to do away with album equivalents because it gives the impression that however many album equivalents were sold equal the number of people who heard something. It’s devalues an artists impact and impression and makes them look smaller.

    • @CoolioPs-hb1jy
      @CoolioPs-hb1jy 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly, reality is there's at least a milli that's heard that album by now, personally don't think it's half bad but wish it didn't have Rick Ross on it but that's personal preference.

    • @double0double0
      @double0double0 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yes they are. That’s why they are album equivalents.
      Individual streams are not the same as album equivalents/sales.
      Let’s say the 35k they did was streams only. No physicals or anything.
      That is literally 52M streams.
      52M streams divided by 1500 streams (1 paid album) is 35k album sales.
      1500 streams is 1 paid album (10 songs)
      The public, like you, need to know more information regarding streams because you would know that 52M streams on an album is crazy.
      The overall bigger issue is artist inflating their projects in order to maximize sales.
      If they put out 10 tracks but they were the cream of the crop then the sales could have tripled or doubled. 52M streams divided by 17 tracks is 3k.
      Each track had an average replay value of 20 plays.
      If they cut the filler then that could have made songs that have more replay value leading to more streams.

    Artists who make albums without substance repeatedly shouldn't be surprised when people no longer partake in providing help to their sales, nor should their affiliates. Am I saying Meek is an artist without substance? No. Am I saying he's an affiliate? Fuck, yes. Is it possible the marketing of the album isn't helping? High key possible, but that speaks to the work that needs to be put in for an album to be successful. My take away from it is that artists are becoming lazy in ways they're blind to. If I ever was in his position I would make many efforts to be in a superior position. Where's the effort?

    I was introduced to Ross through my dad (I’m 27) and I was introduced to meek by way of Ross. Then meek started acting like he had the cache of jay z. It’s over, they make great music but the new fans either don’t want that or can’t relate to the fake drug lord bars they spit.

Unless you found out you can’t do anything on your own and can’t be your own boss. So you run back to master. It definitely was a good album. That's the problem. Albums aren't selling well in these days. Great albums are rarely getting bought and heard. Club music and tik tok songs are where it is now. Who listens to a radio like that anymore? Look at K Dot, who's bigger than both of these great artists. K Dot's last album was dope asf but ppl aren't listening to dope music like that. Its the days of drill, trap music, stripclub music, club music, etc full bodies of work aren't doing numbers like they used to. I think they could've and should've promoted harder and more. And definitely more uniquely. The going to radio stations and yada-yada is an old school method and its gotten played out to a degree. And with them doing their own promo , owning all their music, putting their music out there themselves they meet the risk any business does when there are sole proprietors. Everything falls in YOUR lap and on your head, to make you business keep working and growing. They need to learn how the music business machine works, build their own unique formula and marketing from that knowledge, and this bih like their families will die if their album doesn't sell well. You look at someone like Em, he knows his audience, what we're looking for, how we'll move, and he knows that he doesn't have to much promo for his album bcz we do it for him, pretty much. He drop heat outta nowhere, one of us sees it and listens to a few joints and shares and then word spreads. Ross and Meek gotta find their way in these waters and go harder. They went harder on the album then they did promoting it, let's keep it a buck. They're older and this generation isn't filled with many of us that live dope rap, bars, and beats. Putting them in two disadvantages of the bat. Now when you look at a ni66a like YB, of course whatever he drop gon' blow with lil to NO promo at all. Young ni66as that either wannabe gamgsta or actually are fvck with his music. And b!tches love the ni66a altogether so they gon' buy whatever he drop ASAP. With Meek and Ross being older, young ni66as ain't looking up to them like that. And b!tches ain't checking fo dem like a YB, Durk, Choppa, Trippie, Cardi, Meg the capper, Latto, Glo, etc. So there's a few reasons why the projected numbers are low like this
