  • I received a text message from my Brother in Law that said he had found what appeared to be an early split window VW Bus. We went to work trying to track down the owner and 9 days later we had the deal in the bag. Now the fun begins....How to get it out of there. The bus was located in Victor Idaho and was located about 150 yards back in a field off the main plowed roads. This video tells the "rest of the story". Thanks for watching.
    DO YOU HAVE OR KNOW OF SOMEONE WHO HAS AN OLD VW THAT COULD USE SOME TLC. Give us a call today and we will buy your old Volkswagen and feature the story here on our TH-cam Channel. Call Jeremy today (208)200-6053. www.volkswear.com

    What memories here. My mother and father, and I traveled from Corvallis, Oregon to Iowa. Then on to Detroit and into Canada. East in Canada and back to US through Maine. Then to Washington, DC. Finally across country back to Oregon fighting "the Westerly winds". All this in a '59 Westfalia VW Camper.Most of the time going West we would wind it up to 40 mph and then "bang" 4th gear. It would lose speed back to 35, then back to 40 in third etc. Through it all, it never missed a beat. How lucky you are to have this old beauty.

    I am so glad to see people saving these wonderful VW's since they have so much personalities. My great uncle still has his type one he bought new in 1968 (it is a 1968 1/2 model) and I still have my 1968(older model) that my parents bought used in the late 70's. I really want to own a Type 2 someday. Keep up the great work saving these great old VW's I will keep watching and wishing for my family to have some older ones some day.

      CaptTylor Thanks CaptTylor. Good luck in your search for an old Type 2. They are still out there. We hear stories every week about buses popping up all over the country. Thanks for watching. JC.

    It rides very stately as soon as it hits a paved road. Snow makes a very comfortable stuff to lay on if you are well insulated. Clean too!

    I have to say that your videos are so much more exciting to watch than any car show on T.V. Car shows have to much of the drama side and not enough of the actual bringing them back to life side. Perhaps I'll sell my F150 and get a Vanagon or old VW bus, they have so much more character.

      We love our Syncro and there isn't any other vehicle we could take that would make these Old Bus Rescues more enjoyable. Why did Volkswagen ever stop making the Vanagon Syncro? Thanks for watching.

    In 1967, I had a VW Bus, exactly like this one, mine was a 1964 Sundial Camper van converted by the Sundial Company in Lakewood, California. They were very popular. You are quite right about the location of the fuel filter. Amazing how many I see placed directly over the Dizzy. In your vid, I would have replaced the carb as a matter-of-course in the field considering how long the van had been sitting. The brass accelerator pump tube, lovingly referred to as the "dump" tube is/was a common weakness in the Pict carbs. Is was common for this brass tube to be sucked right through the combustion chamber and get caught in the exhaust valve seat. The VW 4X4 Syncro is an amazing vehicle with great traction. I currently have 3 restored 1967 Bugs: Sedan, Sunroof and Convertible, one of each T1 Bug model. So, what has become of the 1960 van?

    • @Volkswear
      @Volkswear  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Brother in Law ended up driving it for about a year and a half and then sold it in order to purchase a Vanagon Carat. He is regretting selling it a little but loves his Vanagon. JC.

    I did this with a motorcycle one time, the guy wen it to get the title and when he came out he asked if I needed help getting it in the truck. I told him I was just going to ride it home. I handed him the $100 he asked for, he gave me the signed title and I took off on the bike he said didn't fun. His jaw was on the ground. Oh course I didn't have to do nearly this much work

    You found another one, outstanding!
    Thank you for keeping these on the road. Please give it a name!
    It sat all alone and sad in that field! Can't wait to see it bright and happy again!
    How long was it sitting there before you got it?

    • @Volkswear
      @Volkswear  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luckily this one had only been sitting a few years. The last it was on the road was in 2012. Not sure exactly why it was parked but we had to replace the fuel pump and the carb was is pretty rough shape. Just goes to show you that even as sought after as these buses are becoming there are still a few out there being abandoned even today. We were in the right place at the right time on this one. Thanks for watching and supporting our channel.

    Hey dudes ! Nice video, nice find as well. This is really a dream vehicle of mine that I wish to get some day when I have enough money saved up. Do you know how much ideally a decent working condition Bus would go for ? Not looking for anything crazy special either a 60's or 70's wold be perfect. No specific style.
    Thanks in advanced.

      @Volkswear  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      1975Kombi1 We are located in Southeast Idaho. Keep your eye out up there in Canada. I know for a fact that there are still deals out there. In fact a guy I know pulled a very nice early 60's Double Cab out of Canada last year just north of the Idaho/Canada border. Same guy just found a small stash of VW's also in Canada that had a Binz Double Cab and a 57 Panel. They are up there you just need to look a little harder. Cool find. The one I just found in the woods where I live in Alaska has those same aluminum windows on the driver's side, but the front bumper's different, like it's part of the body...must be from the '50s. Know where I can get parts online?

    • @Volkswear
      @Volkswear  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shoot me an email with a list of parts you need and I might be able to tell you where to find parts. Attach a couple pics of your Bus and we can probably tell you what year it is. cuttsjeremy@yahoo.com

      Wolfgang Veidl One our first test drives once we got it home my brother in law was driving and was just getting the feel for the clutch. We were at a stop sign and he was taking a little to get going. The car behind us was honking like crazy and at first I thought "what a jerk" but then it hit that he was responding to the sticker. Eu estou trabalhando em legendas. A primeira parte do vídeo é a minha filha a falar e ela diz que seu tio achou esta Kombi e enviou uma mensagem para seu pai sobre isso. Ela então diz que nove dias depois foi isso que aconteceu. Segunda voz é a minha outra filha, que afirma que a Kombi tem sentado por um tempo e nós trouxemos peças para tentar fazê-lo funcionar e conduzi-lo para fora. Obrigado por assistir. Vou tentar e ter as legendas trabalhar logo para o resto do vídeo.
