SAH-Cher..the CH like "Loch". As in Loch Ness. Your 1st try was spot on. Emphasis on the 1st syllable. Great stuff, isn't it?? SAY- SHER??? No no no. And... sorry, but Cafe Central was also Hitler's favorite spot.
You did Sacher correctly at 8:34, but butchered Torte all the time. It's written TortE for a reason, you say it as if it was written Tort. The final e in an a noun is never silent!
a vowel plus the "ch" the sound is a real tongue twister for native North American English speakers, because it starts in the back of the throat are and the air escapes softly, rather than as a gutteral stop. So "ich" does not sound like "ick" or "ach" does not sound like "ack." A voice coach or learning to sing the sounds from a simple song will make the annunciations so much easier to pronounce. Lots of practice and time are useful.
One of the best Cafe tours I ever seen. You show the diversity of sweets, not only the boring Sachertorte 🤣 👏 The Cafe Hawelka is a very famous one, because in the 70s 80s it was a cult place for the viennese Singer and Artists. There is a nice Song about the Hawelka one of the first Austropop. (Jö schau /Georg Danzer) Love from Austria 🇦🇹
My absolute favourite café in Vienna is café Hawelka. I have to visit this place every time when in town. I am no sweet tooth at all, just visit for the coffee and the ambiance!!
MMM! those Sweetmeats looked delicious, you were on a coffee high at the end of the day, hope you got some sleep after that, thanks for sharing looks like a nice place to visit.
As a Viennese, I recommend: Heiner Gerstner Oberlaa Aïda Diglas Prückel Museum Next time, try (wherever): Kardinalschnitte Cremeschnitte Malakofftorte Dobostorte Punschkrapfen Trüffeltorte Every Café has its own creations but those above are available everywhere. Skip Sachertorte and Apfelstrudel, there is more to discover ;-)
@@awaytogether definitely Landtmann Jausenstation in the Schonbrunn gardens. That is a spring/summer dream location. You visited the main location in the city so you know the food is good + the ambience of Schonbrunn, unbeatable😉🍻
Good Video fun and helpful, ( we hope) haha. Going to Vienna for 4.5 days before a Christmas Market tour westbound on the Danube. Cafes are high on our daily list of must do’s. Cheers !
WOWED !!!! Lived in England and Germany seeing a couple of countries back in the day. Now I’m planning 2 go back to Europe and see all I didn’t for an extended period of time. I’ll be downloading your GO 2 PLACES for sure. Thank you !!!, Deb
I’m glad I’d just finished my cinnamon rolls before I watched this, so I was sufficiently sugared up, or else I would have been craving it big time. Perfect video to watch with my last cup of morning coffee. :)
Great video guys! We loved the Keiserschmarrn at Landtmann's and the cakes of Gerstner! Did you get to visit the last one? Again, great work, greetings from Greece!
Omigosh you missed the most important part of coffeehouses: you need to be there for HOURS! You need to read the newspapers, and especially the theater, opera, and art reviews. You need to discuss them with your coffeehouse acquaintances. Coffeehouses are not about the food, though the food is awesome. That's why they're called Vienna's living room.
I think I hit a sugar wall just watching the two of you eat so many sweets! Having said that, I’ve already got my reservation for Cafe Sacher next month and I can’t wait to try their Sachertorte.
Caveat. The cafe Central that you visited is not the one that Freud and other famous names frequented. The present cafe opened after WW2 with the same name. Very popular with tourists because of its wonderful interior and Viennese atmosphere.
Roughly pronounced the same as soccer :). Thank you for this video! Last time I was in Vienna I didn’t go to a single cafe, and now that I’m going back I need to get my fill of cake! The choices are overwhelming, so this video definitely helps me when it comes to decision making!! Although let’s be real, it will be hard not to have five pieces a day like you guys
Hi! I've seen lots of videos of cafés in Vienna since we are visiting the city in September. I would suggest to show more of the places, prices, etc. You show yourselves too much!!
Ok but really, how do you pronounce it? SAY-CHER? SAH-CHER? SOCCER?

You have the spirit of a natural-born Viennese.
Loved seeing these beautiful spaces and desserts 😍 makes me excited to go there one day!

As a Viennese, I recommend:

Prückel

Next time, try (wherever):
Kardinalschnitte
Cremeschnitte
Malakofftorte
Dobostorte
Punschkrapfen
Trüffeltorte

Loved this dessert tour. The coffee and desserts looked great. I do understand how one could get all sugared out though.
If you are unsure and curious on how to pronounce things such aus Sacher, Torte, Hawelka, you could always just ask any local, or simply your waiter.
Great tip! How do YOU pronounce them?
I did them all :) and much more. Lived in Vienna for 2 years and really enjoyed.
Where’s your favorite place to go???

Mike, AMAZING point. I could spend days in some of these places.
yes this is the real Cafe culture 🥰
I think I hit a sugar wall just watching the two of you eat so many sweets! Having said that, I’ve already got my reservation for Cafe Sacher next month and I can’t wait to try their Sachertorte.
Enjoy! That sachertorte is AMAZING. Thanks for watching
How was the Sachertorte?
@@mujemoabraham6522 It was okay, but I couldn’t eat the whole thing. It was too sweet.
Caveat. The cafe Central that you visited is not the one that Freud and other famous names frequented. The present cafe opened after WW2 with the same name. Very popular with tourists because of its wonderful interior and Viennese atmosphere.
Did not know that! Thanks for sharing!
The vlog is amazing
Hope you will add the prices for the next video hehe
I would 100% eat all of that.
You guys are my favorites! My family thinks we are going to starve in Austria because of all the videos about sweets. 😂 I say, challenge accepted!
I am already making dieta just to eat all these cakes there. Thank you.
Hope you enjoy yourself! We love Vienna. Could see ourselves spending a lot of time there.
Were you guys able to use credit cards at all those places you visited ? Curious, we are headed there in a week
Can't remember every place exactly. Cafe Hawelka was cash only last time we were there (about a year ago).

How do you both stay so wonderfully thin? Please tell me you eat nothing else after filming!
Aww shucks! We walk a lot while traveling! Usually 8-12 miles per day. So that helps! Thanks for watching

❓❓how did you get from 1 cafe to the next❓❓
We walked!
@@awaytogether thank you ☕️
I don't understand they just left ein spanner like that :( can't believe
Haha we drank every last drop I promise!
Cool !
Sometimes, a cafe is just a cafe.
Not in Vienna.
Well a Schmarrn is just a Schmarrn, that's it. Nothing more.
did any of the cafes that you visited have people playing chess?
