- Hey everyone here's a quick video on the D6N. This dozer was made for 18 years. One of CAT's longest running models. Thanks for watching

We have a 2018 on the farm. It’s a great machine. Perfect size for farm work and it does really nice finish work.
Operated one for a number of years..... loved it! Indeed unfortunate that it has been discontinued IMO.
I agree one of the classics
Just had this video pop up , awesome video , great info !!! Subscribed and checking out some of your other videos ! Keep up the great work
Thank you sir.
My father operated d8s d9 d6 d5 d4 and d3's for 56 years all cat equipment mostly.
The quarry had a 6-R that was a good tractor but I'd soon run a 6-C if it had been 'tuned' a little. I ran a 5 that wpould poutpush an 850 JD EASY nd a 7-E in the SArmy that was a BULL! I jhate wrist shifters too and just as soon have a powershift. Thanks!
I was born in 2002 and I operated the D6N when I was 11, best dozer i ever drove.
Damn thanks for making me feel old lol
We sell hats that also double as bee swatters apparently
next gen D5 is still powershift. D4 is the old D6K and is the largest cat dozer with hystat.
They don’t call it power shift anymore it’s called fully automatic or fully variable transmission it acts like a hydrostatic. I could see why some people like it but the old school power shift is still my favorite I think.
@@theIronmerchant they may not but I’ve had a few out and look identical to a late d6N transmission. We’ve had to rebuild quite a few that burn the forward or reverse clutches out fairly early before 2000 hrs. It’s warranty but early nonetheless.
That’s super interesting. I know they were trying to make it feel like a hydrostatic/electric drive style where it stops when you push the decelerator and is continuously variable thru the transmission gears. “Hydrostatic style” Is that what is burning up clutches? Making them slip to make it seems like it’s continuous instead of shifting hard?
@@theIronmerchant bad operators we’ve seen where they will coast down a hill in neutral and pop it in gear before slowing down and it’ll just wipe all the clutches in the directional gear they were in, seen it happen on all the power shifts no matter the size. Operator error mainly don’t think it’s a manufacture defect.
Gotcha ok I wasn’t sure if it was a issue whit the new style of shifting. I remember that problem on the 6R’s. I appreciate the info!!!
The problem with this dozer and especially the D5 is cat has price them out of reason
they were good but hard to work on bad centre pin blade design
Good video
Left handed kindergartners must have picked on you. 😂 PS: the majority of the Mensa members I encounter are left handed. Interesting tidbit. Lololol
Ran 5-6m models. Sucks
