  • I've owned this MG ZS EV for three months and finally the weather has improved enough to do a walkaround and review.

A wonderful value-for-money EV. I drove this car for a week in Australia. As a Tesla owner, I have to say I am impressed with the MG ZS EV. It also has some things that the Tesla does not have, such as blindspot indicators on the wing mirrors and great all-round visibility. Stay safe!

Yes great car, I'm in Australia, and did a hill climb, with sharp bends, was brilliant, and coming back down, Regen braking, gained range, added 6km, also handled well with it's low center of gravity.

Hi Rex, that's interesting. I have wondered how the car would perform on motorsport club events such as Hill Climbs and Production Car Autotests where top speed is not a factor. Acceleration from zero in the EV is immense and, using KERS, you can effectively be braking without applying the brakes which would have numerous advantages. I will try it out if the Covid Police in the UK ever let us out to play again.

@@rexhowells7015 How do you find the aircon? I’m from Australia and most reviewers say it’s rubbish. Either full on arctic or not on. Requires constant fiddling. Has that been your experience?

@@mondotv4216 haven't found the air-con a problem, when it cools the car down, turn it off to conserve energy, if really hot day, just leave on.
We had a Hyundai accent before the MG, and tended to turn it off as well when it got too cold.
Found both cars air-con similar, just not climate control, people getting spoilt these days.
We have climate control in our other car, a Santa Fe. So know, what both system's are like.

Wonder which home based solar system charging station would you recommend?

Hi Chris, I don't use solar unfortunately (this is Scotland!) but I do know that the CITA Smart 7 is solar compatible. Try asking the question with CITA direct at E-mail: info@citaevcharger.co.uk

Why put twin carbs in an e.v? Are they for spaceheaters? Or is there a kettle in the boot? You should tell us . . .

The "Twin Carbs" channel is run by two twin brothers with a passion for all things automotive. They also appear to like their carbs (carbohydrates and carburettors). Simples.

Agree with you on the ZS EV. I hadn't heard of the Nexon but, having had a look, it does appear to be very capable. As TATA now own Jaguar Land Rover, I wonder how much JLR technology is in the Nexon?

I just wished the dash didn't look like it was from a car years ago, always hated sat navs low down on the middle of the dash like that..there is zero need for that now unless it is a tall one like what is in a tesla or even the one in the newer zoe since it comes up above steering wheel height. Price wise it would not cost them much more to have a better screen and move it further up...that alone stops me from getting one of these

    1) No arm rest for real passenger

    4) No fog lights
    5) No rear reading light
    6) Sunroof curtain quality is not good.
    7) No telescopic steering
    8) No automatic ac
    9) and many more features missing which is available in ₹15 to 17 lacs regular cars

Agreed but surely the same applies for all new EV's? To buy an EV with the additional features you will pay ₹35 to 40 lacs and above.
