Thank you very much, Ms. Korn, for guiding this cornet-playin' soprano singin' gal thru some wonderful ideas for expressing this wonderful song in a soprano voice. YAY!
Outstanding small group swing playing the tune Alberta Hunter made famous - band are all virtuoso musicians... listen from about 4.30 for Tamar's vocal inventions... very interesting using the voice as an instrument - beyond scatting.
Great version of old tune that has been often recorded from the 1920s on. I like this and many other versions starting with Jelly Roll Morton's Red Hot Peppers from 1920s with a bass clarinet solo and sweet violin section. Tamar scat and Craig's guitar remind me of the way Lonnie Johnson would pop up in 1920s jazz sides like he had just wondered in from the blues session next door.
This also rates with a great version from 1931 by Eddie Lang, Joe Venuti and their All Star Orch including Benny Goodman and Charlie and Jack Teagarden.
Tamar has a following all over the world. That's enough for me! And let me push this two feet further: if no one is listening to ____________ artist at the moment, is their art insignificant? I think not.
I always get a kick out of the fedora a lot of musicians wear i guess to connect with the mysterious wild side of life. Its funny though because a lot of gangsters wore them and the romance factor is definitely debatable there. Its a strange connection.
All i got to say, great music. Great singing.
One of my favorite Benny Goodman big band swing numbers. This is a nice rendition.
One of my favorite tunes, very well done.
Excellent clarinetist
