He's going to become a gorgeous horse when he fills out and replaces any lost fur. Congratulations to you and him for fostering this baby. I know you will get him over this negligence.
Nash is such a beautiful horse, as you said his eyes are lovely. It makes me very happy that such a sweet soul is being nurtured and trained by you Brandi.
I used quell on my kids. In those days You had to have a prescription to get it. My pediatrician had prissy little girls and would give me a tiny amount. But I had doctor friends whose kids went to school with mine and who had lots of hair. They gave me prescriptions for a quart of the stuff!
Quell (lindane) has significant potential for neurotoxicity. It was once the only treatment for lice and scabies in people, along with the main treatment of careful nit combing, but when my kids were little 30-40 years ago it started to shift towards the permethrin based treatments which are safer. Sounds like in horses it’s ivermectin orally and a powder topically but I didn’t catch the name. Good to know horse lice and people lice are different!
Thanks for a educational video! Good to see you! I know the flyspray wipe in a green bottle will kill lice also had a vet tell me that! Hes a beautiful guy will look nice with weight on him and brushed out!
The mere mention of LICE still gives me CHILLS! ☹️ I never knew the literal meaning of “nitpicking” until a major outbreak at our son’s school. Do horse lice attach their eggs to individual hairs in the same way as human lice?
He has a lot of stress lines in his feet. I love his markings. A very pretty boy, hopefully you can fix his toe out. He does need a lot of weight, but he should be a good horse. He seems to have a nice disposition and doesn't seem to have been abused.
Nice looking little gelding! I’m partial to paints and own a red roan tobiano who turns 34 this year. When looking for lice I often use an narrow spaced baby comb or flea comb, although the flea comb tends to hold up better when going thru the base of the mane.
So, he seems like such a gentle, lovely little dude. I hope his conformation issues clear up a good bit! So, working with a horse like this who is emaciated to the point of muscle loss and also clearly was a bit wormy at this point as you said, do you expect a more pronounced "shenanigans period" all of a sudden when his energy picks up after some time with good feed and muscle building, or do you find that mostly they develop "normally" in training?
He looks like a seal bay tobiano if I'm not mistaken as seal bays can look very dark on contrast but also possess the brown muzzle and some lighter areas like he has on his sides. Beautiful boy nonetheless!
I will NEVER understand how anyone can just starve a horse(are any animal) like that, I could never live with myself!! Nash is a lucky lucky boy that you found him💞
Could you do a video on companion horses? Like all you need to know and things to do? As I'm really tempted to adopt this one companion horse but there's zero videos or information on companion horses.
What a lucky boy to have you take care of him as your beautiful soul can transform any horse into a happy and healthy good well adjusted companion for some lucky person to keep loving him💕
The color change with proper nutrition is why so many rescue before and after pictures get a hundred trolls claiming "that's not the same horse/dog/other critter" so frustrating
I really like Nash, his demeanor seems great so far for not being handled or trained, poor guy really needs a forever family. Brandi could you do a video on mane and tail care please
He really is a super sweet guy. I'd love to do a video on mane and tail care but unfortunately I wouldn't have much content for it. I very rarely brush my horses tails and I only brush their manes if they are getting snarled. Occasionally a little coconut oil at the tail head if they have dry skin (which is rare). That's it for my mane and tail care.
Nash is a wonderful horse. That said too for being neglected. ! He's a good looking horse too ;can't wait for him to put a little more weight on!😊Thankyou great video . ! 🤗💖
@@rachelw8506 I only said it "looked" like a flea. I don't know if there is dark brown lice. Also, horses can too get fleas! It is just that they are generally outside and UV light kills eggs and larva. UV -C light kills in 30 seconds. The type of UV light in sunshine takes a little longer but still does the job. Horses locked in barns with no sunshine on their backs or the ground around them could be exposed to fleas and have problems. Or a horse could just pick up one flea that a dog or cat dropped the larva of in the shade. Flea cycle: eggs, larva, pupa, adult. Almost nothing kills pupa stage.
He's really a sweet horse. I hope the lice issue solves entirely but sure needs checking due to the eggs they lay. Is it the reason why horses kick sometimes when some one stands behind them by surprise, due to the eyes and blind spot you explained ? When I was small I recall to be warned never go behind a horse without warning him first..
It appears that he turns out from above the left knee down so corrective trimming or shoeing is not likely to have much of a positive effect on that situation.
He is really a sweet boy 💗😊. I'm curious though why he has retained his winter coat and didn't shed out? Was he somewhere cooler? I am loving his disposition though! Watching him progress will be exciting 😊.
This video is from May 25th. Most of our horses still have winter hair at that time. Nash hung on to his a little longer and it was dull because of malnutrition and being wormy.
They actually need to be moved around quite a bit to help with swelling. Starting the day after castration, Nash needed to be moved constantly for 20 minutes a day for a month. Since he was 3, there’s a bit more swelling than if he were younger.
Sire was a Paint. Looks like he took after his sire more than mom....Paints generally are Quarter Horse based. He's so underweight here, it's hard to tell how big he may become
I see the video was from May 2019. How is Nash now, do you still have him? Maybe I missed seeing him in the herd. He seems very mellow. He neglected but hopefully not abused. I hope you’ll give us an update on him. Thanks for rescuing him!
I was looking for the dished face but didn't see it. So he's a half-arab. I found a great combination to be an Arab and a Quarter Horse. The QH part turns down a bit of an Arab's fire LOL
@@Cissy2cute I see a slight dish. Not much. If mom was an Arab, she didn't pass on her "arabness." When he puts on some weight and muscle we'll see. :D
His body apart from his head looks Arabian mostly he could be crossed with a horse that I would guess to be a Morgan horse , he has a wonderful calm temperament he will easily find a new home.

Looking forward to his progress!

He's such a cute horse!
Nash appears to have an extremely sweet nature and a kind eye. Looking forward to seeing how things go with him and the progress you make. I 🎈🎈🇬🇧👍🎈🎈
He looks like a seal bay Tobiano🤔
He's got such a beautiful nature and coat! Can't wait to see his progress!
LOL Brandi to hear you compare him to Miss Kitty makes me wonder if he hasn't already found his home.
LOL Same. Keep him!

Same here. It's sad.
Brandi he is so beautiful and sweet! I would love to have him or one close to him. I need a gelding
Looks like my Bay, Buckskin mix.
I’m so excited to see more videos of him!!!!

Brandi how is Nash doing? I would love a follow up on this sweet boy!
Proper nutrition and minerals can make them look a totally different color. Black or bay he'll be a stunner when he's rehabbed

I saw something that looked like a flea (dark brown) early on in the beginning of looking.

Hi Brandi.
Nash is a sweet boy. Would like to see an update on this one. Alot to overcome from what this upload is showing.❤

Yes I do. I will be posting more of him soon.
Excellent learning video! 👏
Thanks!
Lol, those Arabian cow hocks!:)
He looks so sweet 💙
It appears that he turns out from above the left knee down so corrective trimming or shoeing is not likely to have much of a positive effect on that situation.
Definitely not. But he moves so much nicer now that he’s been trimmed on a regular basis. His toes were so long, poor bugger.
He's pretty chill....
such a laid back boy. I swear, He's 3 going on 30

how can you foster and not fall in love with them all, id be a hoarder of horses I love em all so much id keep all of them
I am in love with him 😊
how long does he need to heal from his de/ manning ( his gelding surgery)? before you can work with him in a round pen

How is miss kitty doing
Miss Kitty passed in April
Are those not fly eggs?
Don't know if I missed it but how did you come to foster this lil boy? Do you go out looking or do you belong to a rescue group?
I was asked to take him on
Curious...what's he mixed with...never seen an Arabian colored this way...I own 2 and have had them since 13...

I will certainly keep you updated. He is doing great.
I see now, he arrived May 25, this year, on my birthday! Love his markings. Hope he and Manzer get to be good buds.
He doesn't look very Arabian. Maybe part? Tail set is too low. Face just a little dished?
I thought that also.
At the time this video was taken, that's all I knew. I later found out that his mother is egyptian arabian and his sire is a paint.
@@VersatileHorsemanship That makes more sense.

What a sweetie
Maybe just getting over rain rot? With such thinning hair on his back.
possibly
Wouldn't you just treat for lice anyways? That's the stuff I always used...on goats as well!
Brown by his nose says hes bay
He looks so small being 3 yrs😱
Manzer is bigger than him
His body apart from his head looks Arabian mostly he could be crossed with a horse that I would guess to be a Morgan horse , he has a wonderful calm temperament he will easily find a new home.
His sire is a bay Tobiano paint. His dam is a bay Egyptian Arabian
Bath time. Poor boy.
Don’t you look for eggs on the hair itself? On kids, you can. And the people kind look like tiny, itty, bitty crabs! So gross!
Why you keep stare at this horse poor thing horse look puzzle just getting with your horse done with it I felt sorry for this horse
🤷♀️
