Hey guys can you please comment how long to keep it on for. I'm getting a bearded dragon tommorow how long do you keep the basking light on and uvb light on.
Its probably to stimulate himself. However much they loved Stan they probably didn't give him much stimulation if the just gave him pellets and not much else.
Damn idk if I like Stan or Rosie more. While Rosie is an angry grandma turned sweetie, Stan is the ultimate joyless grandpa who refuses to have a wholesome redemption arc
If Rosie is the kind old lady that gives children extra candies on Halloween, Stan is the grumpy old dude who threatens to call the police on them for being on his property.
Isn't that how it always works??? Like dads who say they hate cats and don't want one, but then you catch them cuddling together every night and wearing clothes with each other's faces. 😂
stan’s the old codger-y grandpa that you somehow managed to spend most of your time with at family reunions despite being like 98% sure he only tolerates you at most
You made Stan a very happy little man. I'm pretty sure his posturing shows his general enjoyment of life. After a totally boring ten years of life, he has it all now. And he's no longer in pain- or not nearly as much
I adopted a two-year old bearded dragon six years ago. At the time, he was nearly obese. He had been living on a heat rock, which burned him slightly and which thankfully broke the day I got him. Today I am glad to say he is eight years old and still going strong. He's definitely a little skinny, but he IS eight so like, I guess that's okay. He still is quite active, and has the strongest feeding response I've ever seen on a bearded dragon. I am proud to say that he does NOT have MBD, and he eats a varied diet of collard greens, romaine lettuce, radicchio, and some carrots all topped with canned crickets because he can't hunt worth a darn. He was almost too lazy to hunt the HORNWORMS we gave him once, which were largely incapable of traversing terrain in general. I am also proud to say his pores are clear, which they most definitely were NOT when I first got him. He loves basking, climbing around his cage at odd hours, and pooping on couches. He's a good old boy, and I love him.
Similar to cats, he is clearly interacting with the inter-dimensional beings. So cat morph Stan. Thanks for sharing the update! He is a cool animal and I loved the ending!!
Stan is so adorable and I’m glad you kept him! My rescue Old Gregg also head bobs for no reason. I’ll take him out into the living room where there aren’t any other animals, and he’ll head bob in multiple directions. I cannot figure out what he’s seeing. So funny!
I absolutely agree with customizing your animal’s enclosure to their needs and preferences. They are individuals. My Cali king loooves blankets and soft things so I got him this soft crinkly tube made for ferrets and he loves going through it, easy stimulation as well. Who would have thought a snake would like a ferret toy lol
Yea, my beardie hates enclosures. Enclosures of any sizes stresses him out so he has free range of the house and gets to go outside with supervision. He gets baths and his food brought to him and he can run around and do laps from the living room, dinning room, and kitchen going in a circle. The other day we had a repair man here and he ran out to watch him to make sure they didnt do anything weird.
I find this story kind of amazing and it gives me hope as I'm in an almost identical situation. About 2 1/2 to 3 weeks ago my friend and I took in a bearded dragon (my first ever) that has been neglected his whole life. He's about 10 years old from what we know (crazy similarity) and lived his whole life in a tank that is too small for anything beyond a baby. With only newspaper, a single branch not even the width of his body, and no lamp. He had only been fed lettuce and never had solid stool. When we showed up he looked so weak, his color was pale, he was super skinny, super cold, and he barely responded to anything. I was frankly amazed he was still alive. For the first couple days he didn't move at all, I had to constantly check to see if he was breathing since it was so shallow. Eventually he opened his eyes and started to at least move his head around and I was very relieved since I wasn't sure if he would continue to live and I was going into this blind since the decision was sudden and I didn't know anyone who had ever owned a beardie. But he's improved so much so quickly and I'm so hopeful now for the future. He's been taking to foods beyond lettuce (at first he wouldn't eat anything except lettuce), he watches and focuses on everything I do, will constantly try to get my attention lol, and he looks overall to be so much happier. I feel like we're really bonding now, and its a bond I hope to keep with him for a long time. And seeing you and Stan gives me hope for Kimchi and I (new name since he's in a new, better home. His old name was lame anyways lol). I've been watching your vids for tips and good habits to care for beardies so thank you for that as well and I'm going to continue to grow and learn.
So glad Stan is doing well! Stan might be bobbing to say "I feel good" or "I like this." My beardie (RIP Taz, 13 years) would bob after being fed or when I put him in his favorite window. You also might want to make pop noises with your lips 2-4 times in a row. One of your beardies might do it back! You could have a little conversation with them!
It is so heartening that folks like you exist. You've given this little guy a better, healthier life for his remaining days. And while you say he's angry, it's clear in the video that he loves you. Animals are smarter than we give them credit for being, and Stan knows you have given him real care. It's so cute how he climbs up on your shoulder. As for the tomato eating, why not? He's old, let him have hard cider all he wants! :-)
@@e.g.2261 Yeah, it's a pretty controversial topic. When they're scaless they don't have spikes or anything. They also need to be sun lotioned or they can get really bad skin diseases. It's also pretty hard for them to shed. I don't know a ton about it, but what I do know it doesn't sound great....

I adopted a silkback from a breeder who accidentally produced him. They wanted to get him shipped out to me ASAP because it seems that he was a LOT of trouble to maintain. I'm an experienced bearded dragon keeper, so I knew what I was getting into. Lots of conflicting info on care, though, so I've had a bit of a learning experience with a scaleless/silkback. Lots of time and money to maintain! But I love him dearly. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone except experienced keepers. Also: don't purchase silkbacks; rescue/adopt instead.

That's funny that he both bobs and waves. I only have one male beardie and 2 female cats. My boy only bobs in the spring when he comes out of brumation, so I know it's hormonal. I've never seen him wave. He is super chill, he just gets cranky at the vet. Stan looks quite a bit like my Ducky, and I also got mine at Petsmart.
