thing is i’m not seeing the plays cater to ‘mobile qb’. there’s no option plays , no roll outs , no real attempt at getting gardner out of the pocket aside him doing it off script. if this is what the play calling is i’d prefer aoc in this system.
Just for the simple fact that AOC can see over the line is literally "head and shoulders" above GM. I think we are underestimating the ability of AOC to see our TEs across the middle.

I'm a Washington State University Cougs alumni, and we adore Gardner Minshew. But that doesn't mean we don't know when he isn't playing well. Because we do. And we support his time in the NFL as he has played for different teams. Jags, Eagles, Colts and now the Raiders. And we know him best, but each new NFL fanbase he plays for has to size him up themselves, and it's the same thing every time when he's not playing well. And Gardner knows he's letting people down, and honestly all he cares about is winning games for the team that he's currently playing for (we're talking about since he was like 12 years old, up until now) because that's what the fans want. To win games. He also doesn't pout over a loss for very long, he just tries to improve. But if AOC can win games, then Gardner will step back and support him 💯%. GM wants the Raiders to win. Period. That's all he cares about. Not the fame, the money or the perks that go with it. 😎 He has very little ego, and just prepares 24/7, and is always disappointed when he lets everyone down. It's still early in the season, so lets hope someone can turn this around. ✔️ But if AOC is given the starting job Gardner will be fine. He doesn't usually rattle easily, but maybe taking a few games off will be good for him. There's been a lot of pressure on him since he got the QB1 call, and he's just a regular human like everyone else, and the whole team is a mess. Not just him. 🤨
Uncle Rico is slow to get through his reads and will not push the ball down the field accurately. Aiden is faster in reads and is way more accurate than GM.

AOC is Pierces guy. Minshew had alot to overcome in the locker room. it's a weird situation to try to win over a team that went through what the raiders did last year and having AOC watch. the experiment didn't work so let's load up with AOC. BUT let's pull them if they don't play good. play em both so we can win!!!! the defense deserves that
It's a reasonable take, I never had any problem with AOC but it's obvious with the current Oline and against a team with a very heavy pass rush based defense he's going to be just as unsuccessful as Gardner in the pocket. Sounds silly but maybe we need to try a two QB based rotation per game though it also means splitting reps which makes it harder on the team in general. But we gotta figure out who is our best QB amongst the two sooner than later.
AOC is taller and processes the field much better and much faster.
This is true, I'm at a point where the Minshew experiment is over unless he makes some drastic strides in practice. He's too indecisive and spends way too much time running rather than processing and throwing. Even if it was garbage time when AOC came out, his processing was much quicker than Minshew's, still got sacked and even threw a potential int (luckily dropped), but he was getting balls to Jakobi out fast and it looked great.
Better hope he does because if not he’s gonna get smashe behind this line if you think his stats in garbage time tell the tale of a savior for this team I can’t help you

@@x46and2x The bad Oline will make it worse too. Until Oline gets it's shit together, then expect AOC to get sacked quite often when he's in game. He got sacked yesterday too but he did sort of redeem himself by running away from pressure and tossing the TD to Tre Tucker.
We need more of that from AOC, break the stereotype of him as a statue in the pocket. If he can do that, he'd actually do well. He's already an accurate passer and can make reads much faster than Minshew.

Garden Minshew ia going to get a quarter, maybe a half against rhe Browns. If the offense aint doing so great again. It's AOC's turn. You feel it, and you can see it. Up to me I start AOC now. He's more decisive with the football. Minshew made a play against the panthers with his legs, I'm sure a receiver was open, Minshew just didn't see them or have the confidence to make the throw. When Minshew gets hot, its fun to watch him. To me, he's like a really good relief pitcher, he'll get you out of a few tough innings, but just don't leave him out on that mound for too long.
That's basically the story of Gardner's career in a nutshell. He's too inconsistent.

I had an issue with Epps play. He was missing a shit ton of open field tackles. I liked Epps overall, but he and Diablo have been missing tackles. And Sanjeed is right, I thought the effort was there with our team, we just got outcoached on defense, and at the end of the day our team just got our asses kicked.

Jack Jones is not going to do a better job tackling. I'm going to tell you why. He only weighs 175 pounds. Thats it. The average weight for corners in the NFL is 190. Our favorite Raider corner of all time Charles Woodson weight 205 and was tough as shit and an outstsnding open field tackler. Jones got burned for 2 Touchdowns yesterday. Couldn't cover, and couldn't tackle. Crazy thing is, last year he was laying the hat! He needs to get re motivated his old tendancies are popping back up and thats why the patriots released him last year.
Jack Jones has had a long relationship with AP I wonder if that plays a part on the way coach feels about Jones.

SanG, you and I both studied upper division mathematics i.e. vector cal, differential equations, linear algebra. There's no way the numbers add up, from game to game, this season as far as performance goes, defensively. Every single player on our roster had an off game? Statistically, that is impossible. I get Maxx was hurt and the OL has issues (Getsy's play calling etc.), but getting dominated in such a way leads me to believe they thought this game would be a walk through. AP himself when asked if he was worried about Carolina (being a catch game) he said, "I'm not worried about Carolina; I'm worried about the Raiders." Put that into whatever context you'd like but like the old adage says, actions speak louder.
I think AP gave his players Monday off, and probably held an easy walk through Tuesday, after that big win over Baltimore. The celebration didn't stop there. Call me a liar, but I think some, if not more, Raider players partied over the weekend, similar to what they did prior to our last SB appearance; a game many players on that team said half of the players showed up drunk and/or hung over. It makes too much sense.
The week prior they shut down Herbert who's better than Andy Dalton. If not for one big play, he has only 100 yds passing. Dobbins, if not for two big runs, only has 20 yds rushing. Same goes for Baltimore. The motivation was there. They took Carolina not serious at all! If I'm right, they'll bounce back against Cleveland, play p/o, and shut them down. As they did after the vikings game last year going into LA. We shall see!
As a guy that was at the Super Bowl in 2003, I was partying down in Tijuana the night before the game and saw several players in a couple of the bars, I think you may have a point.
I saw video of the raiders practicing last week, all I saw was players dancing in the field and spent more time rehearsing hand shakes than actual football practice,,, it didn’t look to me they were too worried about the panthers
This season is already the most disappointing. I believe in AP and knew it would take 2-3 years for us to contend.
I think our injuries are being overlooked. Our second best defensive player is out for the season (Koonce), Maxx is playing injured, JPJ missed first 2 weeks, Bowers missed a few weeks of training camp, Epps is now out for the season.
We need 2 more drafts with amazing round 1 & round 2 picks.

Minshew has played 1 great quarter all year. Has had happy feet and bailed on plays early many times. I would not be surprised.
I said this at the beginning of the season and people laughed at me. I support gardner and definitely want him to succeed but fans wrote AOC off way too early all because "he doesnt run enough"
Everyone talks about mobility but Dalton just ripped us with only making one scramble. QB needs to have reads and not panic, Gardner panicked a few different times looking pretty bad vs CAR.

I would sure up the left side with powers and shuffle the right side of the line best I could, I would run with AOC right away, Minshew hasnt done jack to earn the starting spot, hes made a few good plays and some really bad ones. He also does not look comfortable in the pocket at all, compared to AOC. I have kind of felt the plan was the start with Minshew cause they thought they could get off to a faster start, which to me implies AP wanted to move to AOC when they felt he had more of the offense down. And the play calling and design of the offense needs to improve, good coaches make their system fit the personal they have. Getsy was a bad fit for the head coach, he wants power run with big passing, Getsy runs a totally different style and worst yet the Raiders dont have the right guys for it.
I'm glad someone else said it.. I was saying last week not to sleep on the Panthers because their o-line is crazy good, but Young was just not ready to be QB1. Everyone thought I was crazy.. 🤣

AOC can run basic plays but isn’t mobile. Menshew can’t run basic plays but can make the big play on the run. I get scared on a 3rd and 4 with menshew in because he can’t hit a basic drop back pass.
Changing QB won't solve the lackluster offensive schemes or lack of ground game! AP is suspect himself with his 4th down play calls or punt/fg. Also, the drama should be kept in house instead of laying out your dirty laundry, it's NOT a good look.
My view on AOC starting is that the concerns of the weak O-line and his decreased mobility are countered sufficiently to mitigate that concern with his ability to make reads faster and get the ball out faster. Added benefit is he is more accurate and throws with anticipation and he can make every throw in the NFL.
I do understand and do not believe AOC is a 100% fix for the offense or Minshew. But.. he does mitigate the shortcomings that Minshew exhibits.
While Minshew can be mobile and “create” to an extent, I see many more plays being left on the field by his inability to read and get rid of the ball faster. And when I say more plays, to quantify it, I’d say literally at least three times as many plays as he creates. (Not even successful creative plays, just in attempts)
Our terrible offensive line play paired with zero run game and the worst offensive coordinator in the NFL equals losing way more then winning this season. You win in the off-season, and we failed there
Uncle Rico looked lost and Antonio Pierce also looked lost. We have been talking about fixing things up since 2002. I stopped believing the hype over 10 years ago. The Raiders defense was ranked 17th before yesterdays game. Unknown why some Raider fans claimed the Raider's defense was number one.
All the info coming out of training cap said the defense was killing our O line. I think most of us were worried about the Offense and the O line in particular.

Gardner Minshew is a journey man, no one has ever invested on him, or kept him for more than a season or two. That should be red flag, they have to give O'Connell a chance to determine whether they will need to draft a quarterback next year, in the first round or second round perhaps. Minshew is a competent back up.

The only positive to yesterday is if they continue to play like Sunday, we'll get a top 10 draft spot and finally get a QB! Either way, this O-line has to get figured out. What I'd like to see is Miller-JPJ-Parham-Peat-Glaze. I thought Glaze did a really nice job in relief of Munford. More power running, less zone BS...Zamir is not a zone runner. This is why I wasn't excited about the Getsy hire. I just hope my Raiders can put all the pieces together before I die... not gonna hold my breath, though.

I mean is it not time to give a season to develop AOC? Minshew lacks physical arm characteristics you can't change with coaching. This team has too many holes and now injuries to make the playoffs at all, be real. Adams will be asking to go soon enough, so why not let AOC develop with some prime receivers and give them banging rooks a chance on the line. Bout all that there is to really be positive about.

I agree, that O line is junk.. Whoever said they were top 10 is smoking something watching the games, They can't give the QB any time for the play to develope or create a lave for the RB.... Wich equals a struggling QB... They sucked last year and the year before that, in fact I can't remember them being ok, maybe Cars rookie year.. JPJ did look good though.. Hopefully Telesco fixes whats been neglected for so long..

Preach! I think our best oline configuration for this year is Miller, JPJ, James, parham, Glaze. I could see Mumford moving to rg and maybe moving parham to center since James is struggling right now but that switch should have been made in the offseason. Maybe give parham a chance in practice for a couple of weeks so coaches know he’s ready to make all the line calls. Mumford is too slow to be a RT, but could be a great guard imo. I wish we would have picked up fuaga in the draft but bowers was definitely too good to pass up. One more offseason and our holes should be filled. Zamir ain’t it at RB with this oline. Let AM get a chance to the lead back.

Do y’all remember the game we played against the Vickings after we had a bye last year?? We came out with a weird energy that was lackadaisical and out of sync and over all didn’t give enough effort. We came out with that SAME energy against the Panthers yesterday and I think it was because we were at home and our players got to comfortable the night before, some prolly was partying, others prolly ate terrible bcuz they were with their families, and every body felt like the panthers would be push overs and all of that combined is the reason why we came in so terrible. All we need to do is start AOC going forward and call better plays as well as not underestimate our opponents moving forward.
AOC just takes his steps and throws a good ball. Not sure why so many have doubted him again this year. The team plays better around him and I thought that was the direction we were going. Why we went the other way, not sure, but our video guys all supported Minshew, like they have coached.
Pierce is there to take blame. Mark Davis could have hired Champ Kelly. Instead he hired Telesco from San Diego, Telesco then traded Josh Jacob’s, and hired Luke Getsy at OC. Both of these moves were against what Pierce wanted. Pierce will be blamed for Getsy’s inept offense and replaced with a guy of Telesco’s choice.
There's NOT ONE aspect of this offense that can be analyzed or argued about, without putting the O-line at blame first. The O-line is the catalyst for the entire offense. Scoring many points isn't a realistic expectation with this absolutely porous and fraile O-line. Raaaaaideeers??? 🏴☠️⚔️🖤
