I’m seeing so many fans high on AOC. 😊 AOC was a rookie with an inexperienced OC running the offense. AOC will acclimate to NFL level speed and mental agility. He played better than most first round QB rookies. Peyton Manning had a rough first year and shined in his third. Hope Aiden gets better fast and he does have a good team around him. At 9:06, I remember this play. That was on Adams, not AOC. Adams wasn't running hard, like he expected AOC to not be able to get the ball there and kind of jog/run instead of sprinting. Had he been sprinting the ball would have been perfect.
Coaching Qbs for years and having to evaluate Qbs and make decisions of who will be the starter, my experience lends to think that Aidan will beat out Gardner. Gardner does have better off schedule play making skills, that is easy to see. However, Aidan plays the Qb position better. The kid has the poise and the football IQ needed to last a long time in this league. When looking at these 2 as a comparison, one has to look at the defensive units and defensive minds they faced. Gardner faced some stiff defensive minds from New England, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Cinncinati. Played well in 2 of them. Struggled in the other 2. Aidan, who I thought played well in his first start but no way was it a master piece, to me is a wasted game to even discuss because of who was calling the plays. Not that Aidan ever had a decent play caller all season seeing that Bo Hardigree had never done it and was learning the skill of play calling week to week. If we begin with his first start under AP, the kid had to face in succession defensive minds Wink Martindale of the Giants, then a week later the NY Jets unit, then Vic Fangio in Miami, then Spagnola of KC, and then Brian Flores of Minnesota. He gets a break with Staley vs the Bolts, then right back to Spagnola, and Gus Bradley of Indianapolis. I kept saying last season, this was the best thing for Aidan O'Connell. A true baptismal of NFL great defensive minds. Aidan kept improving weekly. Even in the Christmas game where he threw for just 62 yards, Spagnola couldn't force a big mistake by the rookie. Every game the Raiders had a real shot of winning each game. Even in the Minnesota game, it was a fumble by Renfrow deep in the scoring area and a dropped deep pass by Tucker that cost them that game. I have no clue for sure who will win the job. I like both kids a lot. It's just that my coaching eyes tell me Aidan should be the favorite. Either way, good luck to both and Go Raiders!

Another factor to consider is that AP put in Aidan, over Jimmy G. JG was clearly the better QB, but I think that AP thinks they have something special with Aidan, and wants to give him the reps to get him where he needs to be. In my opinion, JG is better than Menshew. I really don't think that there is a true competition. Aidan is AP's guy. Aidan still has to prove AP right, that he will become someone special.

He went 9~8. Aidan as a rookie went 5~4. His last four games were pretty good, if you double what Aidan did, he would be 10~8 not including his massive improvement with only 9 games under his belt as a rookie. I like Gardner, but he is just a "little boy".

I did mention Gardner and his arm when he threw that sitting duck of an INT and yes Minshew has been a backup but we also don’t know how much AOC will improve in year 2 and if our offensive line struggles especially in pass protection Gardner gives us a better chance to create plays using his legs. I think this is going to be a close QB battle and I wouldn’t be shocked if we saw them both start at some point next season

oconnel is a bit underrated. hes been fulfilling his duties. yeah hes missing a few but he did well under the circumstances. this rookie came in when everything was crazy and did the best he could with what he had - the bs playstyle by mcdaniels. i couldnt imagine what the offense would have been like if he was the starter if mcdaniels wasnt the hc. oconnel would have been listened to, to make him comfy when it come to deep passes with certain players and such
It will be Aiden unless he proves he can’t be the future in camp. If they go with minshew it means they gave up on Aiden and probably the season too. Aiden could be the future, no one knows yet. But everyone knows that minshew is a band aid. We need a qb there that can take the raiders to the promised land. That could be Aiden, that’s what they’re going to find out this year, potential. All we have for film on him is from his rookie year, it’s better than the film from mahomes, Brady’s and Rodger’s rookie years. Give the kid time before comparing him to a vet. We all know what minshew is. He can create his way to a middling record. We don’t know what Aiden is yet. No one does.
At the end of the day none of these Qb's are exciting options but hopefully they can do enough. They have weapons so no excuses. May the best player win. If not we need to land someone via free agency or draft.
Minshew has been underrated his entire career. Last season he was ranked #13 according to ESPNs QBR which takes into account a QBs total contribution (not just passing). In addition, his teammates absolutely LOVE him everywhere he’s been and he is a natural leader. He’s off the charts intelligent and has had success everywhere he’s been when given the opportunity. His entire life is centered around ball and is extremely disciplined. AP knows all of this and Minshew will start…. The Raiders will make the post season… and may not make it all the way next year but it will be exciting to watch. I’ve followed him since he showed up at Wazzu and led them to their best season in history. I’ve always thought this guy will play in a superbowl one day. This is the beginning and the past is prologue to next season. Get ready for Minshew Mania Vegas!!! It’s gonna be a wild ride!!!
If you want to tug at heartstrings, then review Aidan's career. Minshew might make it to a Superbowl, but it will be as a backup QB. 4yrs in the league, this last season was his season to shine. It didn't happen. It's not going to happen. I like the guy, but the NFL is a ruthless business. He is a very good backup. I wish him the best.

the thing that scares me the most with Minshew is when he cant set his feet and throws off balance off one foot. The ball floats with little velocity. It just screams INTERCEPT ME! LOL. AOC has the stronger arm, but he needs an elite OL in front of him to be successful since he cant move at all. Its going to be an interesting battle.
There's no way anyone who has watched both of these guys play thinks O'Connell's arm is stronger than Minshew's. Neither have a cannon but Minshew's arm is quite obviously better
@@Rigamus11 I was looking at Minshew's highlights. He usually underthrows his WRs on deep passes. Most of his passes are medium range variety. He's closer to Jimmy G. AOC has much stronger arm and is more accurate with the deep ball. But Minshew is more mobile.
Minshew throws a very good deep ball and he's really good at throwing back shoulder balls. His lack of arm strength becomes a liability when he has to DRIVE the ball 30-40 yards.
good video.. couple of things to consider . Watch Purdue tape he scarbled more . Mc Daniels beat it n his head to be pocket passer. No offense pre season reps and new offense. Iagree Raiders would prefer to have o Connel win more upside.
I think you should break out your stop watch and time those couple plays where you said he held on to it too long. 1.35 is not too long, that is failure of the offensive line. Aiden and Minshew are basically lower grades of Carr. Minshew won’t improve a lot more than he already has shown. Aiden has the possibility to do it, we’ll see (I hope so). This is the same reason I been screaming about a better offensive line. If you have a top 5 QB, you can win with a top 10 line. But when our line isn’t top 10 and neither is the QB- you have issues where the discussion is can we have a 10/7 or maybe 11/6 season. Give either Minehew or Aiden a top 5 O-line combined with this defense we have where we only need one more killer corner- and we have a legitimate shot at it all.
I think Minshew has a lot of gun slinger in him and he is fairly mobile. AOC had a game where he didn't make a completion the whole first half. Minshew = fun to watch lots of energy AOC = Nice guy, game manager, will lean on his recivers to make plays.
Writing off AOC after his rookie year is wild. We know what Minshew brings throughout his career. Give the kid another shot and see how he does and if it doesn't work out thats why we bring in Minshew.
Only raidernation will say aoc , after that trash year, is better or is slightly worse than a qb who just made the pro bowl that was thrown into the starting role.
I've been saying AOC would be the starter since last year. He's the future, not Gardner. If Aidan doesn't work this year, we will be looking for a QB next year. Mark it

Minshew is a winner. If you think the Raiders OLine and talent at WR was lacking last year, look at the indy lineup from every game. One receiver who actually ran their routes, and no oline consistency. He had a diff oline nearly every week and took what should have been a 2-14 season and came within a wrong turn by an inexperienced rb making the wrong shoulder turn from the playoffs.

Well there was nothing to address. For a quarterback I don't understand. We have a quarterback AOC 12. And he would have been a first-round Talent if he didn't stay in college for one more year. The Raiders are my sleeper pick to be the worst team in the league this season. They have no QB. Minshew is a backup with a .448 career win percentage. They have no running game. Davante Adams wishes he was back in Green Bay with Josh Jacobs.
I think in Getsy's system Minshew fits better. Getsy will want a qb who has more Rodgers like abilities and unfortunately that isn't AOC. Still a fan of AOC, I just think the system will naturally run better thru minshew

That's what I saw during the game, and the replays afterward. Adams stopped running. Aidan put the ball where Adams should have been.

Thats not true we offered a trade Jayden and it was rejected we wanted Penix in the Draft but Falcons stole him up .

oconnel is a bit underrated. hes been fulfilling his duties. yeah hes missing a few but he did well under the circumstances. this rookie came in when everything was crazy and did the best he could with what he had - the bs playstyle by mcdaniels. i couldnt imagine what the offense would have been like if he was the starter if mcdaniels wasnt the hc. oconnel would have been listened to, to make him comfy when it come to deep passes with certain players and such

It will be Aiden unless he proves he can’t be the future in camp. If they go with minshew it means they gave up on Aiden and probably the season too. Aiden could be the future, no one knows yet. But everyone knows that minshew is a band aid. We need a qb there that can take the raiders to the promised land. That could be Aiden, that’s what they’re going to find out this year, potential. All we have for film on him is from his rookie year, it’s better than the film from mahomes, Brady’s and Rodger’s rookie years. Give the kid time before comparing him to a vet. We all know what minshew is. He can create his way to a middling record. We don’t know what Aiden is yet. No one does.

At the end of the day none of these Qb's are exciting options but hopefully they can do enough. They have weapons so no excuses. May the best player win. If not we need to land someone via free agency or draft.

Minshew has been underrated his entire career. Last season he was ranked #13 according to ESPNs QBR which takes into account a QBs total contribution (not just passing). In addition, his teammates absolutely LOVE him everywhere he’s been and he is a natural leader. He’s off the charts intelligent and has had success everywhere he’s been when given the opportunity. His entire life is centered around ball and is extremely disciplined. AP knows all of this and Minshew will start…. The Raiders will make the post season… and may not make it all the way next year but it will be exciting to watch. I’ve followed him since he showed up at Wazzu and led them to their best season in history. I’ve always thought this guy will play in a superbowl one day. This is the beginning and the past is prologue to next season. Get ready for Minshew Mania Vegas!!! It’s gonna be a wild ride!!!
If you want to tug at heartstrings, then review Aidan's career. Minshew might make it to a Superbowl, but it will be as a backup QB. 4yrs in the league, this last season was his season to shine. It didn't happen. It's not going to happen. I like the guy, but the NFL is a ruthless business. He is a very good backup. I wish him the best.

the thing that scares me the most with Minshew is when he cant set his feet and throws off balance off one foot. The ball floats with little velocity. It just screams INTERCEPT ME! LOL. AOC has the stronger arm, but he needs an elite OL in front of him to be successful since he cant move at all. Its going to be an interesting battle.
There's no way anyone who has watched both of these guys play thinks O'Connell's arm is stronger than Minshew's. Neither have a cannon but Minshew's arm is quite obviously better
@@Rigamus11 I was looking at Minshew's highlights. He usually underthrows his WRs on deep passes. Most of his passes are medium range variety. He's closer to Jimmy G. AOC has much stronger arm and is more accurate with the deep ball. But Minshew is more mobile.

The only good thing AOC has is that he has great confidence as a newbie and that's is! GM is clearly the better man!
Minshew throws a very good deep ball and he's really good at throwing back shoulder balls. His lack of arm strength becomes a liability when he has to DRIVE the ball 30-40 yards.

I have to say my thoughts in AOC12 vs Minchu. Aoc12 has a higher upside, but lower floor. Next year to look at FA and the draft to replace either

I think you should break out your stop watch and time those couple plays where you said he held on to it too long. 1.35 is not too long, that is failure of the offensive line.
Aiden and Minshew are basically lower grades of Carr. Minshew won’t improve a lot more than he already has shown. Aiden has the possibility to do it, we’ll see (I hope so).
This is the same reason I been screaming about a better offensive line. If you have a top 5 QB, you can win with a top 10 line. But when our line isn’t top 10 and neither is the QB- you have issues where the discussion is can we have a 10/7 or maybe 11/6 season.
Give either Minehew or Aiden a top 5 O-line combined with this defense we have where we only need one more killer corner- and we have a legitimate shot at it all.
Oh- I gotta say, Aiden will surprise a lot of people this season.

I think Minshew has a lot of gun slinger in him and he is fairly mobile. AOC had a game where he didn't make a completion the whole first half.
Minshew = fun to watch lots of energy
AOC = Nice guy, game manager, will lean on his recivers to make plays.
Writing off AOC after his rookie year is wild. We know what Minshew brings throughout his career. Give the kid another shot and see how he does and if it doesn't work out thats why we bring in Minshew.
Minshew is clearly the better QB. It would be silly to not to start him week 1.

Minshew is a winner. If you think the Raiders OLine and talent at WR was lacking last year, look at the indy lineup from every game. One receiver who actually ran their routes, and no oline consistency. He had a diff oline nearly every week and took what should have been a 2-14 season and came within a wrong turn by an inexperienced rb making the wrong shoulder turn from the playoffs.

Well there was nothing to address. For a quarterback I don't understand. We have a quarterback AOC 12. And he would have been a first-round Talent if he didn't stay in college for one more year. He was projected to go in the first round before he took his team to the Big ten championship 🏆. It seems like a lot of you guys that speak about Aiden really don't know Aiden.
