I’m still holding out for a second run of the gold pan. I’ve wanted once since they first came out in the 80’s. I’m going to kick myself for not buying the clear if they don’t rerelease the gold. PLEASE PLEASE Team Associated. 🙏
I feel your pain, brother! I kicked myself for not grabbing a gold pan rere back in 2014 or so, when they came out. I had to get the CC to scratch that itch.
Funny thing you are a fan of Tamiya Instructions, the early Sand Scorcher I had in the 80's were nothing like the ones today 🙂 They had no A,B,C bags or the detail of todays ones, but then all the manuals were bad. Now the scratches on the body can they be polished out with a compound paste, if not some one said do frosted on the clear and what if you did a smoked and frosted that would be different. I can hang out as I'm cooking dinner at the moment and there is time in between to use but I did start prepping dinner at 4am. The chassis does look cool, but I like the look of the gold version, but you should ask for a replacement body as it will give you a runner and shelf queen .
Merry Christmas, Fil! Hope you had a nice dinner after being locked up in the hobby room for 4 hours, ha ha! Yeah, I didn't get anything RC for Christmas, here we celebrated on 24th, so now it's just a regular Tuesday morning, sitting with a coffee, watch some TH-cam... I do have a couple weeks off work, so it's highly likely I will crack into some RC projects, maybe do some mail order, who knows? Yeah, about that RC10CC, I wasn't very excited about it on my own behalf, but of course happy for the rest of you to get this. And now I'm bummed on your behalf you received something a bit substandard... I hope you do manage to get over all the issues, and get you that nice display piece. Have a good one, buddy!
I'm sure you've got a handful of projects to wrench on, haha. At least you've got a couple weeks off to enjoy life, and slow down a little. All the best in 2024, Mads! 🍻
Was lucky enough to get the 2013 release, would of preferred black nylon parts with the silver to make it different and a proper runner instead of polycarbonate parts and a display piece intention , just my thoughts.
Good man, I missed the 2013 releases, so I jumped on this as soon as I could. Agree, it would be nice to have a kit we could actually run. But I'll take what I can get. It looks good on the shelf next to my OG RC10.
Merry Christmas Phil! to some of us, you're not "Uncle Phil", but brother Phil. You're the younger brother that I wish I had since mine isn't into radio control. Now, enjoy your Eggnog and plenty of food (if you like Eggnog, i hate that shit) and we will see you soon! Enjoy Xmas with your family and close friends.
Im hoping the bean counters back at Thunder Tiger in Taiwan see that the current mature vintage market can be very profitable….I would be in line to get an RC10t!
Hiya Fil, that was a very enjoyable watch, thanks! I'm a bit late, sorry, been spending more time with family! Anyway, this is a very cool car but some frustrations in there too! I reckon they popped a few metric screws just in there to mess you up!! 😅😅 Look away kids, he's sniffing tyres again! 🤣 Sounds like some grease would be good to put on the threads going into that hard plastic. I missed out on the racing scene back then so I don't have the same nostalgia for this one like many guys do. It just seems to be a ton of cool engineering and well specified parts that are too good to leave on a shelf! I hope you get that body replaced though dude. Have fun with the rest of the kit and a very excellent new your to you and your family! Cheers! 🍺😎👍
The RC10 was one of those "out of touch" RC's that I dreamt of having as a kid. I remember by the early 90's, I'd saved up enough $$$ and I bought an RC10T. My world changed... hahaha. From a Midnight Pumpkin to an RC10T was night and day. For that reason, I'll always have a special place in my heart for these buggies. 🍻
Excellent Phil👍 thanks for giving us the heads up on the sticking points my body is marked aswell although no where near as bad as yours I think i my body dodged the marks because one of the parts bags got stuck in between the chassis and body so they couldn’t squeeze together properly!
Bummer about the body, that was a bonehead thing for them to do in the first place. If they had just flipped the chassis over it would have probably been fine. I did notice they don't have the bodies listed on their site any longer. i assume they had to stop orders on them to fill the replacements for all the ones that got damaged. I have not even gotten a shipping notification on mine yet so only time will tell if mine is going to be damaged to! Either way I am still eager to get mine! Take care Fil and Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas, Addam! Yeah pretty bummed about that body situation. Some guys say theirs were wrapped in plastic. Mine definitely was not... lol! We'll see if they send out some new ones. Cheers pal! 🤙
First and foremost, hope you have had a great Christmas matey! Unfortunately nothing RC for me over Christmas..... Just busy with work and family. All I got was..... Very drunk!!! 😜 Catching up on content now! Great seasonal video dude, what a delightful last project of the year, she turned out great! 👌 Totally with you on the instructions thing, Tamiya all the way! I can cope with Kyosho's, but have only ever built one Team associated (RC10 B6. 2) and to be totally honest it wasn't an enjoyable experience! Real bummer regarding the issues lots of people have been having with the scratches, especially as most of these will be shelfers. Glad you got a cheaky tire sniff in, although no other manufacturers have quite the same 'hit' as a Tamiya! 😉 So then..... RC10 clear speed challenge anyone? 🤔 😂 😅 🤣 Speaking of speed challenges, thank you for all the great content you have entertained us all with over the last year matey, so many great videos. Also, thank you for all the support you have given our little channel to buddy. 🙏 Wishing you a happy and healthy 2024 from myself, Mr Hanky 💩, and all at Green Hawks RC! 😊 👍 🎄 👍
Very drunk I still a ton of fun, is t it? Until the next day, anyway... hahaha. God, hangovers suck as we age, don't they??? Thanks for always watching and supporting my channel too, my man! I really appreciate it! 2024 is just around the corner and it's time to get some more RC action rolling! Clear RC10 speed runs? I think the executives at Team Associated would come and best me with a rubber hose if I tried and pull that stunt off! Hahahaha! 😆😆😆
@@poorboysrc Ha!..... I'm very lucky, I don't really get hangovers mate! Got a very high tolerance, probably because I enjoy a drink daily.... hopefully my doctor doesn't watch this channel!! 😂 I reckon if you did actually put out an RC10 CC speed challenge you would probably have no one step up! But, I am very much looking forward to seeing what chassis will be chosen in 2024! All the best Fil! 👍 👍 👍
Great tips, i was hoping to be building my rc10 cc over christmas, was going to be racing it on the 28th, but as they didnt arrive im going to run the new optima mid instead. I got my 1st TT-02 off santa 😁 the Audi rally car, cant wait to get it up and running 😎
I've seen mixed reviews on this subject... Some guys insist, others do not. I'm in the "do not" category. Here's my $0.02. The clear hard plastic used in these CC kits is VERY hard and more brittle than the black plastic we're used to. AE even states, this kit is for display purposes, not for running. So with that explained, we understand the parameters when working with this hard clear plastic. I used a small power driver to assemble my kit. I use the same driver on every kit I build, so this wasn't special. The power driver made building a breeze, it has the torque to drive the screws into the plastic, just be careful not to over tighten as you can break the plastic. I think a power driver is a must when building this kit, as screwing by hand would be a nightmare! That said, if tapped, screwing manually would be a breeze... I don't see the need to tap every hole prior to screwing in the screws. But if that floats your boat, go for it! The only REAL bugger was the two tan colored diff gears. There's 4 TEEEEENY, TIIIIINY screws in each one, and the allen wrench they give you (AE is still using imperial sizing, which is so bizarre) is not built for the job. You might want to tap those holes first. If you watch my video, you'll see how messed up my allen wrench was after I was done... Lol! Hope that helps.
Hello Phil, it is good that you managed to get one of these kits. They seem to be hard to get. My understanding is that there will 2 batches of these kits and that is it. The first batch is already sold out. A second batch is coming but with a higher price. Thoughts?
I missed out on the 2012/2013 re-release kits from Associated and I've been kicking myself since. I wasn't about to miss out on a clear RC10. Haha. That said, I was pretty bummed out to find my body was all scratched up... 😭 I'm happy to know that the first batch sold out so fast. I recall hearing after the 2012/2013 re-releases came out that AE wouldn't ever re-release kits again, claiming they made no money. This seems odd to me, but in today's world, all us 80's kids are now in our 40's, and would love to get our hands on these kits from our past. As for AE upping the price on a second batch? That's a little greasy sounding to me, but it's also Capatalism 101. If the people want it, you can charge a little more $$$. I still think the RC10CC is a bargain compared to the Jumpin' Jay rere. At the end of the day, it's a really unique piece, that'll add to any avid enthusiasts collection. No to find a cool way to display it... (My wife is gonna kill me!) 😄😄😄
Hey Fil I can't remember if I said Merry Christmas already but if not then Merry Christmas! I have to say that the RC10 is one that completely passed me by back in the day and so I haven't got the nostalgia thing that others will have but it does look like a cool bit of kit. I guess that this version with the clear parts is mainly going to end up on shelves for display. Maybe spray paint that servo in silver to keep the clear and silver theme going? Shame about the body but otherwise looks like a great build 😁👍👍
Merry Christmas, Pete. Hope you and your family had a wonderful day. The RC10 will always be that "professional" kit that adored so much as a kid. And now, as an adult, I just love the aesthethetic of it. Take care, my man! 👊🏼
Looks fantastic ! But a choice had to be made, Yokomo, Mid 60th or Asso CC. Went with the Yokomo, as I don't have any, while I have some RC10 and some Mids. Merry Christmas and thanks for all your videos 🎅🎄
You forget to mention the Kyosho Ultima JJ edition too. Another kit that is expensive. I want all of those kits you mentioned but just can not afford them all. I agree with you.
I’m more a fan of the Associated/Kyosho component per bag build method than the Tamiya method. I like the looks and detail of the Tamiya manuals but the build methodology I like this way better. As for this particular release I’m waiting on a more drivable release. Others have mentioned that the chassis is drilled for a Stealth transmission so it’s closer to the World’s car release but with the original transmission. It would be cool to get another Worlds car but in the silver ano. Gold chassis would be cool but the silver would be cool too as I’m not a fan of black ano
I'm still kicking myself for not picking up a World's Car back in 2012 or so, when the re-released them. That's why I dove on this one as soon as they were announced. 👊🏼
In my kit the body came inside a plastic bag with no scratches and the Chassis was upside down on the bottom of the box so maybe there addressing it or maybe I just got lucky
I’m still holding out for a second run of the gold pan. I’ve wanted once since they first came out in the 80’s.
