We used to own Desert Hobbies and Raceway in Hesperia Ca in 1987/88. My wife had 1 of the first 8 RC10s for public release. I used to race for Delta, Check Point, and received factory 12th scale cars from Associated and Delta. Raced a prototype MIP RC10 4wd, Raced at Ranch Pit Shop, Outlaw RC, and all of the So Cal tracks, on road, off road, oval, gas...Had Cox Scorpions, Tamiya Frogs, Raced for Trinity for a bit, Trinity/Kyosho. Walker Motors. Knew and raced for Good Ole Guy Ron Paris of Paris Motors. And much much more.I really miss the Good Ole Days of RC Racing
@@RCRetro Unfortunately not. Back in the mid 2000's-2010's alot of the tracks went away and had no where to race. There has been a big resurgence since, but it has just gotten so expensive. I live here in SW Missouri and we have a Great 1/8th off road track. Went to put together a package to race,,,,$5500 later, there was just no way. I was at the 1st off road worlds at Del Mar. We knew the Losi's really well. I knew pops before RC when he sold DoeBoy Pools and the boys used to be BIG into skate boarding. Big at the Upland Skate Park. Tony Neisinger helped me set up my 1st Associate 12i with the factory front suspension. Was 1 of Bob Novaks frist speed control customers. I remember when Novak and Associated we a block away from each other in Santa Ana. Back when there was a race circuit in So Cal,,,And Hobby Bench opened up a Boat Pond that was all the rage in the summer. We race Electric Hydros...RCRC in Costa Mesa, track and shop outside of Long Beach near lomita. I raced the 1/8th scale on road nat's at ranch with the first of the serpent cars, the off road nats at Ranch and Bakersfield. Used to race 10th scale on road at Tamiya Raceway. Met Big Jim Greenmeyer from Check Point, and He sponsored our shop with motors. Our shop was also sponsored by Proline. It was great back in the day. Today, RC car racing has become so technical. I stopped by a big race a couple years ago, and I saw the factory teams working out of Box Trailers with full Shop set ups, I even saw a trailer with a 3D printer, CNC machine and small lathe in it..Too much.
I agree with your idea that an etched chassis or etched motor plate or etched nose plate would’ve been cool. However, I unequivocally cannot agree to the limited edition kit idea. It was hard for some people to get one of these first run kits - so many scalpers grabbed these things up just so that they could split them apart and sell the parts on eBay. I feel like doing a limited edition kit of something that was so popular would only have caused people that genuinely wanted one to miss out on the opportunity. This would also apply to any further kits associated releases this coming year to commemorate their anniversary.
Thanks for the unboxing I got mine last week from my local hobby shop and I am not going to build it going on the shelf in box with my re release classic. Enjoy the build I built mine back in 87 was a wedding present from my wife and was stolen years later that’s why I purchased the classic rere. 👍🏻
I bought mine in about '87 and raced it for a short time. I sold it to help pay for a plane ticket for my wife. I got the crappy end of that deal, we divorced a couple years later. I should have kept the gold pan, not the gold digger. 😅
Congratulations!! Hopefully, we will see more vintage good stuff from Team Associated in 2024. The CC has already sold more than TA expected so that should have woken them up to just how big the vintage RC market has become over the last few years.
I hope so. While this was not the case with the Worlds Car or the Classic... I think things have changed in the past few years. One can only hope that since they have the molds, they Re-Rerelease the CLASSIC kit. Perhaps a stealth transmission kit to install or maybe, just maybe a Jay Halsey Tribute kit much like the JJ Ultima.
Also...apparently AE is going to be also selling the silver tub chassis solo along with the stickers, body, and tires. Nothing mentioned so far about the clear plastic parts though.
I'm sure you'll get it eventually. Might not be right away but i really think AE will continue to produce these kits and all orders will eventually be fulfilled. I hope...
I was watching this thinking to myself, what a missed opportunity considering it's mainly a display piece. clear shock bodies would have been sick, to be able to see the internals of a working oil filled shock, to see the seals and shock shaft and piston doing it's job. even when just a shelf queen, it would have been another cool feature when showing the car to someone especially if they are new to the hobby or not mechanically inclined. to work the suspension up and down and what goes on in the inside of the shock to use as a cool teaching aid. Also a clear chassis that would definitely be for display only but it would have been awesome to see that as well. Great unboxing video though I can't wait to see the build video of her going together, I'd say get a second body for it and do one painted and one clear just so it has best of both choices, that's just my thoughts about it though. You definitely earned a new sub right here brother. Much love and respect from upstate New York.
I am keen to get one of these, no idea on release in Australia... I have bought my new dogfighter and also want the 60th Mid along with this, getting expensive!
I pre-ordered 3 kits from amain on the day it was available for pre-order. I wanted one to build and 2 to keep sealed and add to my sealed box Associated Electrics collection! They arrived last Saturday but unfortunately all 3 were damaged from not being packaged properly. So waiting for amain to get more to exchange the damaged ones.
I agree on your “2 cooler” factors.. , especially since this is advertised as a display peace. I guess I’m on the fence with this one. I run all my buggies. They get ran on tarmac, grass, dirt and some small jumps. This for me is the only true way to judge and get a feel for the buggy, even if it’s going to be somewhat of a shelf queen. Not having any options for spare parts is kinda a bummer. But I get it, they’re really pushing it’s for display. Hopefully will see another re re. 👍
I'm hoping this is just the beginning for celebrating the RC10 and with the molds they have, will produce another RC10 Classic Kit. Heck, they may even surprise us and put out a championship edition or maybe a "T". Fingers crossed.
This car kit is very hard to get. I have heard that it is a limited edition. I have also heard that they will only make two batches. The first batch is already out. So, one more batch in January. Has anybody else heard this? I did manage to get just one. Not sure how I got so lucky? Team Associated did over sell these kits on their web site. Unfortunately . Thoughts?
This is such a missed opportunity to just produce the ReRe again, and mass produce it enough to where you can run it and get parts. They should just use modern plastics from the new kits if they are worried about the collectors. I guess I'm just at that point in my life where I'm not buying things just to stick in a closet like 99% of the buyers of these. Good job actually building yours.
I'm hoping that with the molds they have, they will rerelease the classic kit. I think its cool they put out a "display" RC to commemorate the RC10 but fingers crossed they follow it up with a rerelease of the RC10 Classic as well as maybe a stealth transmission kit that you can add to it.
Do it. If anything breaks there are plenty of third party companies out there that make replica parts from nylon that are just as strong as the original parts. I believe one such person is FAN RC. They are on facebook and make RC10 and Yokomo parts. There are 2 distributors in the USA. One of which is KNK.
I got my first one yesterday. I ordered one from Amain and one from Tower. I am not going to open one after seeing what they are already doing on ebay. Selling for $600. If associated ever gets their crap straight and makes enough for people that want one, I will get another to build. I wish they would release a Jay Halsey replica kit so that they could stand by their rule that the original was a one time only release (stupid) With a Jay replica they could do another run of the original and only change the front tires and box art and stickers. DECALS!!
Go box art. Haha. Lets face it how many more genuine bodies are you going to buy? At least 2. Paint one of those. Still its a sweet ride its awesome no matter what you decide. Ill say this again losi not forgiven. Lol
As fabulous as it is to have this released, I believe it's one of the worst releases in AE history. Over sold orders, orders refunded due to unable to fulfill, scalpers selling on eBay for $1000 plus, and they hadn't even received them yet. I've already seen parts for sale for crazy prices. I'm sure you've seen the same chit chat on RC10 talk as well. Glad you managed to get yours, don't think many of us Down Under will see too many. Would love to see a Graphite ReRe.
yes i've seen the discussions on RC10 Talk. It is unfortunate... from pre-orders being cancelled to even Team Associated Themselves jacking up the price to 399 USD at the last moment when it was intended to be sold at $319. Hope you get your hands on one.
It is a great experience to build one from nib. When I did my original Worlds, it was like nothing else. Enjoy it.
