The Roger Ebert story was also very interesting. The fact that the two critic's didn't always get along doesn't surprise me at all, we all see things differently & that's a good thing!
Here's a small coincidence; Judy Garland's birthday is 10 June and this sweet little Dorothy's birthday was 11 June. Thank you for this video and always great to see your doggo!
in chicago you can check out oz park which has statues of dorothy, the lion, the tin woodman, and the scarecrow. plus in mapleton [another town in illinois] is the wizard of oz garden and playground. this was very well done
Great video Jordan, its interesting you said Roger Ebert wishes more filmmakers would do black and white more in films. If you watched Siskel and Ebert reviews on youtube here, I watched one of their special shows, where Siskel and Ebert were both complaining how they were colorizing old movies like Its a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street because they think the colorization is poor and pasty like and just leave the movies as they are, because you are not distracted by the poorly edited pasty color
Hi Jah!!! Thank you for the story about Dorothy. May she rest in peace. I never knew she was a real girl….That carving in the tree was amazing. Rest in peace Roger Ebert. Beautiful memorial
Thanks, Jordan, for taking us to Dorothy‘s grave. I did not know she was only five months old when she passed away. I saw the movie with John Ritter playing Frank L. Baum and they showed Dorothy a little older in the movie for obvious reasons. Elbert’s statue was amazing too! I also am glad that Jah is doing well after his ordeal with his teeth. He is his old self again❣
i loved watching Siskel & Ebert as a kid and their back forth banter over what films to watch, a few times they disagreed about a movie so much i thought it would come to blows..
Thanks much for the trip. This was a very interesting Dorothy story. I remember watching him on tv. I only watch black and white movies. My family laughs at me telling me i need to try color..lol Take care
Some of the stories that I heard and read about had stated that The Wizard Of Oz was deemed a horror movie because of the Wicked Witch Of The West and her scenes in the film
What an interesting vlog (also a great addition to your 'Wizard of Oz' back catalogue). Lovely tribute to Roger Ebert. Many thanks Jordan for all your hard work and brilliant research. Great to see Jah.
Welcome to BloNo, Jordan! You are in a wonderful community. My happy place. There are several other notables buried in this cemetery, too. We have the most restaurants per capita in the US. Many large chains don't survive here because we have so many locally owned that can't be beat. Some franchises start here to see what kind of response they can get. There are so many special things about my community. Thanks for visiting!
A very early HOF baseball player, a Vice-President and President Lincoln's favorite singer are also buried there. Bloomington is my hometown now and we met you at the Leaning Tower of Niles. Love your videos!
Great video! THANK YOU for taking those glasses off (!) of the Roger Ebert statue. Looks so much better. Also loved the story of Dorothy Gage. Very interesting.
Jordan, very much enjoy your videos. If you’re still in Illinois you should check out Francis Park in Kewanee and do a video. There is a very old house there you can tour that was way ahead of its time and the backstory and builder Fred Francis is awesome. Give it a google. Keep up the amazing work!
I was born in Kansas, this movie was extra special to my family, by the way I have a 8 year old black chihuahua that looks like Jah , same mellow personality ❤
Wow that's amazing unique craving of Dorothy from the favourite movie The wizard of Oz, thank you ever so much Jordan your English friend Rodders 🤘🎸🥁👑😎
Thats nice that dorothy gage was frank baums neice was the inspiration for the character dorothy gale in the wizard of oz i liked that movie nice resting place for her in bloomington ill good vlog jordan
I passed by this theater once while at my Technical Training school, Chanute AFB, Rantoul, about 15 miles away from Champagn-Urbana, in 1978-79. The street and the statue were not there yet.
Great video, thank you. I'm from Illinois originally, and my infant son is also buried at Evergreen cemetery (1971). Next time I'm up in Illinois I will definitely want to check out this beautiful memorial to the original Dorothy and her grave. Everyone have a wonderful day.
Jordan , did you happen to drive through Decatur? My hometown and home of the Decatur Staleys who became the Chicago Bears and Soybean Capital of the World. Bloomington is a nice town. Take care .
That’s absolutely fascinating. I live in Carbondale Illinois. I wish it’s just a few hours from Champaign and Bloomington and I had no idea that there was that kind of history. Looks like we’re gonna have to take a road trip soon.
Really good blog I didn't expected for me was a really good job and documented history of Wizard of OZ plus the life of my favorite critic gentleman this a good travel to years pass wooow thank God you make me remember good history this blog means a lot to me thank you this little Dorothy is 66 ❤ what a gift 🎁 you are special take care😊😊
WOW!!!!! That's so neat! We just moved from Savoy, Illinois to Naperville. We LOVE that theater. And miss it! Goodness sure wish we could've met you!!!!! Hope u has a good time my friend! Welcome to Illinois Jordan and Jah!
I had no idea L. Frank Baum had a tiny niece that passed away so young and that he honoured her by basing the Dorothy character on her. What a lovely 🥰 thing to do for her and her family. Thank you for schooling me today Jordan. ❤Jodie 🇦🇺
I went to UofI for an art conference when I was in high school. Don't ask how long ago!😂 If you haven't already, you should check out Sullivan, where the Little Theater on the Square is. Big celebrities used to perform there. My mom drove down the alley behind the theater and almost ran over David Canary. She also saw Joanne Worley at a store in town once.
I could have sworn in a documentary they said she died around the age of five years old. Now I'm confused 🤔. I guess the tombstone would have the facts.
I knew about Dorothy Gage but did not know her birth date. The first play I ever directed was The Wizard of Oz and the first performace was on June 11th...her birthday. Weird.
What a touching memorial for little Dorothy Gage, may she sleep with angels. 💐
The Roger Ebert story was also very interesting. The fact that the two critic's didn't always get along doesn't surprise me at all, we all see things differently & that's a good thing!

I never knew the character of Dorothy was based on a real person. Losing a child is traumatic. Such a wonderful story. ❤
in chicago you can check out oz park which has statues of dorothy, the lion, the tin woodman, and the scarecrow. plus in mapleton [another town in illinois] is the wizard of oz garden and playground. this was very well done
I actually live here in Bloomington-Normal and I've gone to the Cemetery Walk in October at that Cemetery for the past 3 years
💟. Thank you for capturing close-ups of your lil Jah🐾.
You're blessed to have him in your life.

I love the wizard of Oz I didn't know that Dorothy Gage was the niece of Frank Baum that's a wonderful memory to do that name Dorothy in his book ❤

Big celebrities used to perform there. My mom drove down the alley behind the theater and almost ran over David Canary. She also saw Joanne Worley at a store in town once.
Cool 😎 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great follow up🌹
Jim Croce's son was headlining that theater behind the Ebert statue.
Yes, I thought that was ironic that a.j. was there
Great video and I think REO Speedwagon is from Champagne too.
Hope you get to Metropolis
Jordan, somewhere I have a video I took of Mickey's establishment where that stone was made, in st louis, if I find it I'll send it to you! ty!
I could have sworn in a documentary they said she died around the age of five years old. Now I'm confused 🤔. I guess the tombstone would have the facts.
I find lots of inconsistencies in documentaries too
I knew about Dorothy Gage but did not know her birth date. The first play I ever directed was The Wizard of Oz and the first performace was on June 11th...her birthday. Weird.

You don’t have to read the plaque word for word. We can read it ourselves
Folks with learning/reading disabilities, and those from other countries (not able to read our language) definitely appreciate Jordan reading it. 💞
I really appreciate it when he does.
