I have lived in Louisville Ky all my life, Cave Hill is absolutely beautiful! We have spent many Sundays walking thru the cemetery looking at all the beautiful grave sites.
I have a spot reserved for me at Cave Hill for when my time comes. It is truly a great comfort to me. Cave Hill is a place of eternal beauty, eternal peace, just like where my soul will reside as well.

That’s really the reason I love visiting old cemeteries. Such beautiful and amazing monuments and headstones. The art n craftsmanship is truly amazing.
I am a Louisville native, and I lived on Grinstead Drive, which is the road that runs next to Cave Hill. I have loved this cemetery since I was a small child and was brought here to feed the ducks at the point. Cave Hill never gets old. I have wandered the grounds endlessly for hours exploring. This place is amazing.
I think it’s wonderful that this cemetery lets the family make the graves and markers very personal line this with these statues and monuments very awesome thanks for sharing 👍👍

When the woman who wrote Happy Birthday died in 1946, she had no idea what her little song has become so popular for so many generations! They should decorate her grave appropriately! Beautiful place, but sad too!
I have literally thousands of photos taken in Cave Hill. About a dozen of my ancestors are there, dating back to the 1870's, and we will be there also (but not soon I hope). I am familiar with all these gravesites but one and I do not remember seeing one of the elaborate ones and I know the whole place pretty well. I did a screenshot and when the offices open up again after this Covid-19 is over, I will take that in and ask where it is. The grounds are still open daily but offices, of course, are closed to the public. Thanks for a great presentation.
After thinking about that one I did not recognized, now I think it MIGHT be the one near Barney Bright. Going tomorrow to see the dogwoods and other flowering trees, so will check.
You are right it is a museum with all the beautiful sculptures. You probably don't remember who was buried where the two corgi dogs were playing. That was a pleasant encounter as I have been doing corgi rescue for 32 years, own corgis etc.
Cave Hill is close to me, in many ways. My mother's best friend for life is buried in Cave Hill. I lived for years right next to the western wall of the cemetery -- I could hear Muhammad Ali's burial service going on. So many of the gravesites are touching, particularly the devotional ones for family members who died tragically young. It is wonderful to show visitors how good and loving a person was in life, and some of those sculptures do just that.
@@CashewPaul The animal life is so varied in Cave Hill that it's almost like a wildlife preserve. Plenty of deer, and all sorts of birds. And the ponds are like small lakes in the woods. There are still areas where a visitor doesn't see any graves. With all that and the architecture, it's like a visit to a park, or monastery.
This one is so good, I am going to save the rest for tomorrow! When you told that Beatles story I started laughing so hard because I remember hearing Ali said that, I love the Beatles but that was hilarious!! ' Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee' !!!
As a native of Louisville, I think thisis one of the undervalued cultural assets to the city. I live in Atlanta now. We have Oakland and Westview Cemetaries here, but nothing to compare to the grandeur and majesty of Louisville's Cave Hill. If you are reading this and have not been to Louisville, I can tell you, this 12min video doesn't even give you HALF of the beauty of this place. You can literally get lost walking or driving and forget your self. It's a huge cemetary.

@@CashewPaul If you get the chance, check out Oakland and Westview in Atlanta. They are interesting too..with jokes. One grave has a man's TV and cane at Westview.
