Thanks for a great review. What a lovely little watch. No one else has commented about one of your final comments, "I don't even know if I'm pronouncing Glycine correctly" so I'll comment. Well I'm pretty sure that you're pronouncing it correctly from the point of view of an English speaker and incorrectly from the point of view of a French speaker. Every other English speaker I've heard talk about Glycine pronounces it the way you do so fair enough but a video about Glycine combat subs in French here on TH-cam had the French speaker pronouncing the "y" the same way that we would pronounce the "i" in "fit". I would have expected a French speaker to say it that way but I wanted to confirm it since I'm not a native French speaker. Apparently the word glycine is the French word for the flower or plant "wisteria" and French Wikipedia also told me that several French navy boats/ships have been named "Glycine". That aroused my curiosity but that's all I know about it.

PURIST vs. GMT & GLYCINE Bracelet options:
PURIST = 1 hour hand (total of 3 hands).
Hour hand = 24h mode = 1 turn in 24 hours - scale 0..24 on the outside of dial
2nd Timezone via rotatable bezel 0...24
GMT = 2 hour hands (total of 4 hands)
1st = Main hour hand with arrow = 12h mode = 1 turn in 12 hours. No 12h scale on dial, you have to "imagine" it virtually...easy though as we are used to 12h AM/PM mode.
    2nd hour hand = GMT hand = 24h mode = 1 turn in 24h - scale 0...24 on the outside of dial
3rd timezone via scale 0...24 on rotatable bezel in connection with GMT hour hand.
Crown at 4 for releasing/locking rotateable bezel
On any PURIST, the 12h shaft remains "unoccupied" and the hour hand is set onto the 24h=GMT shaft of the movement. That is why the PURIST hour hand performs only 1 rotation in 24h... analog to what the GMT hand does on the GMT model.

I ordered this watch today (2I Dec 23) not knowing the main hour hand is a conventional I2 hour one. I'm happy about it.

The strap feels amazing. Not sure if you are aware but good quality leather actually feels soft and plush....

They were using ETA before swatch group decided to not supply movement outside the group itself. Latest production are embedding a sellita movement

I had a Purist model and had hard time reading it too. I felt so stupid because other Glycine users seemed like they didn’t have problem with it.

No 12h scale on dial, you have to "imagine" it virtually...easy though as we are normally used to 12h AM/PM mode. Just regard the hands as "freely floating" without any scale and don't look at the 24h scale.

A tip is to rotate the outside bezel 180 degree so your inside 12 lines up with 24. Read the outside bezel number for afternoon hours. But u lose the second time zone.

So what I understood is: GMT goes 12h but it has 24h dial. The purist all the sames but the time goes 24h,right? Sorry for me bad English, hope you get my concern before buy it

    • @jeffreycimini8974
      @jeffreycimini8974 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Both wrong both go around 24 hours. Purist does not have a third hand. Second time zone is set by the bezel.

For me it’s a bit heartbreaking that both your hands don’t revolve once every 24 hours. It’s also disappointing that the original hourhand rotates twice since the double sided hand was a major piece of design that is now unused

I don't know if any bracelets with fitted end links will fit right and I haven't seen anyone try. I do think you could fit one with straight end links, but haven't seen anyone do it yet:

This is the WW1-quality obsolete construction. The way better Airman is the AIRMAN SST 12 - its outer scale is a CASE-INTERNAL outer scale, operated by a second crown-screw you can turn with the hand. That second crown-screw LOOKS like it needs a regular screwdriver to turn it, but all you need is the thumb-nail in the track and it turns with the slightest circular impetus of the thumb. THAT IS THE REAL «AIRMAN», the «Airman sst 12». Don’t go for the rip-off version.

Sir, you clearly do not know what is this about. This is re-issue of the FIRST Airman from the fifties. The watch, that offered different timezone time before GMT Master and was VERY popular among military pilots way before SST Airman was released. It is a timeless classic, apreciated by those who are in the know, which clearly you are not.
