The gaur (Bos gaurus; /ɡaʊər/), also known as the Indian bison, is a bovine native to South Asia and Southeast Asia, and has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 1986. The global population was estimated at a maximum of 21,000 mature individuals in 2016, with the majority of those existing in India. It has declined by more than 70% during the last three generations, and is extirpated from Sri Lanka and most likely Bangladesh. Populations in well-protected areas are stable and increasing.
Bull gaurs are majestic and often kill tigers and I have seen them , # true beast , sometimes they also kill villagers who try to domesticate them ,# true king of bovidae ,they are agressive too.
@spookyskelly skeleton that makes no sense, if it wins 45 percent of the time that means that it's taking down a gaur. And this is india, so it would most likely be a bengal tiger ; meaning that these smaller subspecies of tigers are taking down prey 2x the size of their own mass.
@@youstupidboi2483 the size difference between Bengal tiger and Siberian tiger is only 15-20 pounds, Bengal tiger is the most shredded big cat, Siberian tiger looks big because of thick fur and thick layer of fat to protect from snow while Bengal tiger doesn't have thick fur and thick fat layer, muscle mass of both Siberian amd Bengal is similar, in wild now average Bengal tiger is bigger than Siberian because lack of food in siberia. Full grown bengal tiger is mostly 600-650 pounds, 35% grows upto 700 pounds. The biggest tiger was a Bengal tiger with weight 847 pounds.
I feel like one oversight in this analysis is the nature of their skin. The taunt skin on a Gaur might make their muscles look impressive but it would lacerate much easier than the loose, thick skin of a Bison. Maybe that wouldn't be enough to compensate for the size difference but it would make things interesting. Also, most Bison in America are actually Bovine crossbreeds so you could probably breed them with a Gaur and create something truly scary.
She was most likely protecting her calf. Besides, I think that maybe it’s just about time that someone introduced Texas Longhorns 🐂 to the Western Ghats.

American bison is like iron Mike Tyson and Indian bison is like Lennox Lewis.. but I think American bision has a very good defense against Indian bison ie its massive speed 68kmph. It can run away and escape from Indian bision easily. 🤔🤔🤔
I once saw a gaur from close range. Not knowing what it was, having never even heard of one before that moment... it took my breath away, slack-jawed i just stood there staring at it for several seconds. It is enormous...
The male Gaur has to be one of the most powerful animals on the planet- over 3000 lbs of pure muscle with horns! Impressive! Their coloring is very pretty.
Bisons are very aggressive while Gaurs are not, I have seen domesticated Gaurs and they are very friendly, I used to pet their neck, in the video he said the dewlap of skin under the throat at 3:46, they were in my gramp's farm in the village, and petting on their neck they feel very good so actually Gaura are friendly animals but Bisons are very aggressive so maybe Bison would win
Gaur is Called Mithun in our state. We tani people measure our richness by how many Mithun we own. It is often exchanged and sacrificed in wedding and shamanic ritual ceremonies. I am from Arunachal Pradesh, India.
Proud to see some of North East still preserving protecting indigenous paganism, animism, ancestral spirit worship ways. Sad to see missionaries/expansionist religions destroying annihilating Indian Subcontinental ancestral worship ways just like they did in America, Africa, Philippines, Korea etc
These animals fight and RUN into eachother so, not only the mass but the speed also plays important role. American bison run with speed upto 40 mph ( 64 kmph ) and it creates a huge amount of momentum and also bison has among the most strongest skulls in the world due to the natural way they fight. And with all these abilities only a single attack by bison can break that Indian gaur's skull, ribs and bones.
I really hate to split hairs, but this is the NORTH American bison....it has home ranges from the northern US, through western Canada, and up into Alaska. Thank you!

Gaurs are very important part in culture's of North Eastern Indian tribes, specially out here in the state of arunachal pradesh
cultures, not culture's
Bro in Arunachal we have Mithun. Gaurs are double the size of Mithun.
Size matters in the animal kingdom, so I would say the Gaur would win most of the time.

Bull gaurs are majestic and often kill tigers and I have seen them , # true beast , sometimes they also kill villagers who try to domesticate them ,# true king of bovidae ,they are agressive too.
They often don’t kill tigers they are preyed by tigers but it wins 45 percent of the time
@spookyskelly skeleton that makes no sense, if it wins 45 percent of the time that means that it's taking down a gaur. And this is india, so it would most likely be a bengal tiger ; meaning that these smaller subspecies of tigers are taking down prey 2x the size of their own mass.
@spookyskelly skeleton ok
@@youstupidboi2483 bengal tiger are still larger than average African male lions so idk what you mean
No the American bison won no one cares if it’s Indian it has more hair and looks better
I recognized David's voice instanly since I watch a lot of HistoryMarche. Such a great narrator.
Not going to make up for a *50%* weight disadvantage.
What are you talking bruv gaur fights tigers not bears, tigers are the apex predators of nature.
@@Your_spanish_el_amigo Tigers are certainly good ambush predators. Too bad they have to hide and sneak up on animals to win a fight, unlike bears. :)

It would be interesting to see your take on a Guar vs Cape Buffalo. That would be interesting considering how aggressive Cape Buffalo are. I think it would stand a chance
American bison is like iron Mike Tyson and Indian bison is like Lennox Lewis.. but I think American bision has a very good defense against Indian bison ie its massive speed 68kmph. It can run away and escape from Indian bision easily. 🤔🤔🤔
Cape Buffalo loses to both he Guar and the Bison

The male Gaur has to be one of the most powerful animals on the planet- over 3000 lbs of pure muscle with horns! Impressive! Their coloring is very pretty.
Bisons are very aggressive while Gaurs are not, I have seen domesticated Gaurs and they are very friendly, I used to pet their neck, in the video he said the dewlap of skin under the throat at 3:46, they were in my gramp's farm in the village, and petting on their neck they feel very good so actually Gaura are friendly animals but Bisons are very aggressive so maybe Bison would win
I mean bisons are absolute units but Gaur weigh hundreds of kilos more on average and are pure muscle on legs.

Can't believe a male Tiger can take down a fully grown male Gaur and drag it's carcass along.
Both animals are strong and beautiful nature is also beautiful ❤️
yeah well, nature is also one of the cruellest things in the world.
These animals fight and RUN into eachother so, not only the mass but the speed also plays important role. American bison run with speed upto
40 mph ( 64 kmph ) and it creates a huge amount of momentum and also bison has among the most strongest skulls in the world due to the natural way they fight. And with all these abilities only a single attack by bison can break that Indian gaur's skull, ribs and bones.
Nope
I really hate to split hairs, but this is the NORTH American bison....it has home ranges from the northern US, through western Canada, and up into Alaska. Thank you!
Gaur: More weight, more muscle, stronger horns.
Bison: Stronger neck.
